- AWESOME way to teach small children Spanish. It's the best book in Spanish that I own (and I own many). My one-year-old and my two-year-old both learned all the body parts and more through this book. They love the cute pictures and pullup flaps. I want to find more books like this one!
- It's really hard to find board books in the original Spanish, which means the majority of books available are translations that don't have the same rhyme/meter/ease of the original. Our version of this books reads "piececitos" for "feet" which is excessively awkward (less awkward would be "piecitos") and, according to some, incorrect. We're raising our son to be bilingual and since he gets English at school we try to exclusively speak Spanish in the home. It's hard to find culturally/linguistically accurate books in Spanish for him that aren't 1) bilingual and/or 2) sloppily translated. Bummer.
- My 18 month old daughter loves this book. My husband and I do also, except for the fact that all of the names of the body parts are written with "ito" at the end. (used to say it is small) I would prefer "boca" and not "bociquita", or "ojos" instead of "ojitos". Other than that it is a great book. Especially with the flaps.
- This book is fun for my 8 month old. He has learned where to flip the pages up or down and enjoys playing with the folds. The paper does usually return to its usual spot, but could be more sturdy (that's why I gave 4 stars rather than 5.)
- I brought this book for my daughter-in-law to read to our grandchild. They are teaching dual languages (English and Spanish) to him as his other grandparents are Chileans.

3 comments about Repaso: A Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication, and Culture (Spanish Edition).
- This book is a workbook designed for use by AP Spanish high schoolers, though I am using it for a non-credit adult class.
On the plus side:
- The discussion and exercises are well matched.
On the minus side:
- There are some typos, e.g. the present tense forms of one verb are listed where the preterit forms should be.
- The answer book is available only from the publisher, and will be shipped only to a school address.
** This is a major negative for adult students **
- This is an excellent review book for Spanish language learners.
Be aware that there is an earlier edition which you should most definitely NOT buy: Repaso: A Complete Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication, and Culture (2001), and that the publisher has included no answer key in either edition but has published them separately and made it very difficult to match them up.
Moreover, the 2001 answer key is completely out of print and impossible to find anywhere on the web. Trust me, I've tried!
The answer key the goes with this 2004 edition of the book is Repaso A Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication, and Culture ANSWER KEY with ISBN number 0078607086 and can be found readily.
- The explanations and the practice exercises are VERY good.
Frustrating to use because it does not contain the correct answers for the practice exercises. This book is TOO FAT. It could be packaged as a set of slimmer volumes by topic, so that the student and/or the teacher could handle it more easily.

- Half the stories are interesting. The other half are quite boring, but if you are planning to take the AP Spanish test you have to read this stuff.
- Although the wrong book was initially sent in error by Amazon, the problem was rapidly corrected. Amazon's customer service really responds to their customer needs. Excellent job!

- This book along with "Tomo I" are without a doubt the AP Spanish Lit Exam. I had both books during the last school year and 4 of the featured stories in the books appeared on the MC section and another 4 appeared on the free response section. Bottom line if you are looking to take AP Spanish Lit exam this is the book for you. In addition it is a great read for anyone who is wants to start reading Spanish literature. The books feature a variation of authors from all of Mexico, South and Central America, and Spain. Stories come with a brief biography of the author and provide some background of the writers. In addition colloquial phrases and complex words are defined in the same page they are printed and are marked with numbers making them easy to find in the story and list. In short I really liked this book and recommend it to anyone taking the AP Lit exam or interested in Spanish literature.
-Alex
- The poems, excerpts, and short stories in this book are extremely enjoyable. Many of the stories in this book I have also read in English, but it is always a pleasure to read them in their original language. Recommended for AP or advanced Spanish classes.

5 comments about Ven Conmigo!: Holt Spanish Level 1 (Spanish Edition)[BOOK ONLY].
- Rather than pay $80.00 for a lost school textbook, I ordered from Amazon and easily replaced my son's lost book at a fraction of the cost. Thanks, Amazon!
- Ven Conmigo is a good introduction to Spanish and has a variety of written, oral, group, reading, and grammar exercises. The teacher edition and lesson planning ancillaries create a complete, comprehensive package that teachers can either use heavily, if they are just beginning, or use as a guide and support, if they are seasoned.
- I am a high school Spanish teacher. If only my school had enough to buy new texts. This one is very poorly done. I thought the old Vallette-Vallette Spanish for Mastery was bad until I saw this one.
- I taught with this book for a while. I really had to supplement the students with my own charts and information because they information is presented in a very chaotic and disorganized way. I think they are trying not to overwhelm the students with too much information, but they are not very good in editing the actual information. Pronouns, for example, are introduced not all at once, but only a few at a time whereas most students just seem to want to know them all when they are trying to activate their use of verbs. This disorganization actually harms the weaker students who seem to benefit from organized and coherent explanations; whereas the stronger students pick it up anyway. There is a definite stress on Latin American Spanish in the textbook and audio materials.
The vocabulary sections are good and I found that the supplemental DVD was something that could definitely be used to encourage student interest.
Overall, I would say that I would choose a different book, especially if you are going to learn on your own, but for class it is o.k. as long as you are ready to do the extra materials.
- I will use this book for the first time this school year to teach Middle School Spanish. In planning, I have been impressed with the resources the publisher offers for teachers.
The book focuses on culture, connections, and communication and excludes in-depth explainations of the fine points of grammar, making it an ideal roadmap to a dynamic exploratory (or connections) class.
The publisher offers many resources to bring the language to life for students in a classroom setting.
Many ideas for promoting discourse are included.
Again, it seems ideal for an intro level class for adolescent students.

5 comments about Repaso: A Complete Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication, and Culture.
- This review workbook is written entirely in English, except for the exercises which of course are in Spanish. If you are a native English speaker learning Spanish, this book does a great job of explaining rules, and perhaps not just as review. There are a TON of exercises for each section, so if you need a lot of repetitions this is the book for you.
- This is an excellent workbook, but it is nearly impossible to find a copy of the answer key. As of the date I'm writing this, the only used copy here on Amazon is listed for $999.00 (seriously), and the publisher will only ship to school addresses. Bummer, because without answers this workbook loses a lot of its potential value for independent learners.
The good news is that the content of this edition of this workbook (ISBN: 9780844274126) appears to be exactly the same as the content of Ultimate Spanish Review & Practice (ISBN: 9780071492409), which has answers to all of the exercises in the back of the book. I haven't checked every single page, but I randomly compared about 10 different pages in different chapters (for example, Chapter 3: Exercise N) and these books are the same. The only difference is that the workbook has space for writing answers to each exercise right in the book, while USR&P does not. Of course, this also means USR&P is smaller and easier to tote around. BTW, USR&P also comes with a CD-ROM with over 200 additional exercises. And no, I have no ties to USR&P whatsoever. I am just a Spanish learner who has searched high and low for the Repaso Answer Key, and I was thrilled to find this other much easier solution.
So, if you have this workbook and want answers to the exercises, you can get them in USR&P. If you're wondering whether to buy this workbook, you might be happier with USR&P unless you don't care about having answers to the hundreds of exercises.
- Not only did they send me an old edition that I couldn't use but it took over a week to arrive from Maryland when I live in DC
- This is the 2001 edition of Repaso, whose answer key is impossible to find anywhere. Avoid this edition!
You want to buy the 2004 edition instead: Repaso: A Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication, and Culture (Spanish Edition).
And then you want the 2004 edition's answer key with ISBN 0078607086: Repaso A Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication, and Culture ANSWER KEY which is easy to find.
- Let me start by saying this is a wonderful tool for practicing/remembering your Spanish Grammar. It's huge and has tons of practice problems. It explains pretty much everything (grammar related) that you are likely to need in your Spanish studies--it's very comprehensive. You would have to dig very hard into advanced material to find topics not covered here. It will keep you busy for a very long time, and it's great to go back to every once in a while for reviewing `rusty' concepts. It's one of the few Spanish learning aids that I have kept after going through it. I'm now going through it once again (several years after doing it the first time around). It also has nice cultural notes in Spanish and vocabulary lists of useful words, verbs, and other parts of speech.
This book has a separate answer booklet (sold separately). In my opinion, this is a good thing (other than the extra expense) because the book is quite thick and heavy. It's nice not to have to flip back and forth to the answers all the time. I just have the answer booklet lying off to the side. Very nice. I wish more books would do this.
A potentially useful note: As far as I can tell, the only difference between `Repaso: A Complete Review Workbook for Grammar, Communication, and Culture' and `Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice' (by Stillman/Gordon) is that former provides space to answer the questions in the book and the latter does not. The actual contents appear to be exactly the same. I am unwilling to check every page, but after spot-checking quite a number of pages (after finding the corresponding material), they are exactly the same--the explanations, the exercises, the vocabulary lists, the cultural notes, everything. Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice, of course, has a smaller page count because of the lack of `white space,' and tighter margins and typesetting. But there is no further difference that I can detect, other than the answers are in the back of Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice rather than in a separate booklet. So, if you want to do your work in the book (which is kind of handy), get this book. But if you want to do it on separate paper, get Ultimate Spanish Review and Practice.

4 comments about First Words / Primeras palabras Flash Cards (Brighter Child Flash Cards) (English and Spanish Edition).
- My 20mo has played with these cards since 1yo, really enjoying the pictures and variety of objects.
- The card with the sock gives the Spanish as "calcetÃne" which is WRONG. It's two "calcetines" but one "calcetÃn" -- and any 1st year Spanish student would know that.
Otherwise... The graphics are cute. The cards are a nice size for adult hands.
I bought a set of these of these as a gift and another set to use in bilingual craft projects. I will probably just throw away the "sock" card, but one could certainly try to cover the "e" with correction fluid.
- These are fun! Cute cartoons, and interesting words for the age group of 5 to maybe 11 or 12. I wish the article was with each word (el conejo, la flor) and I think it's a little weird to have the English and Spanish on the same side as the picture, but for introduction, it's okay.
The biggest con that I took a star off for was that there's no phonetic spelling, so beginning Spanish students will not know if they are pronouncing the words correctly.
In class, we like these, and the kids are definitely drawn to them, and they have been holding up well in class (except for the box! Ha!) I'm just concerned for those learning without a Spanish speaker handy.

- I bought these cards as party favors for my daughter's Fiesta Birthday Party. She was 6, so learning different languages is a big interest right now. These cards are great--collection of words and pictures keep their attention and teach new skills!

5 comments about My First Spanish Word Book / Mi Primer Libro De Palabras EnEspañol (Spanish Edition).
- This is a great book for any toddler. The pictures are awesome and wide ranging. As they get older they/you can also say the item in
Spanish.
- My 2 year old nephew loves this book. Even though he only knows spanish colors right now, and we aren't really working on other vocab, he loves looking at the pictures and trying to find things... I say "point to the.........." and he loves it....
It's nice having REAL photos as opposed to drawings. My nephew tends to like that much better. This is a hardback book with lots of pages... I was even thinking it would be good for adults tryin to learn spanish!
- I bought this book for my 1 year old who is currently learning English and Spanish. The book is filled with colorful pictures that help her identify with the words. It's a great first start to becoming fluent in two languages.
- I bought this book for my grandchildren so they could learn spanish, and we all loved it!.It has a little of everything in it. Alphabet, numbers, days & months of the year, foods, things in the house, animals, just to many to name them all here. Great price for such an informative book!!! Would highly recommend.
- SUPER BOOK FOR THE BEGINNER IN SPANISH (CHILD AND PARENT)! IT HAS BEEN A GREAT REFERENCE TOOL FOR MYSELF AND MY 2 YR OLD LOVES FLIPPING IT OPEN ON RANDOM PAGES AND ASKING WHAT IS WHAT. A GREAT BUY!

3 comments about Pobre Ana: Una Novela Breve y Facil Totalmente en Espanol (Nivel 1 - Libro A) (Spanish Edition).
- This is a wonderful novel for Spanish I students in High School. I could even use it with 7th and 8th graders, I believe. We sue it during the summer to keep their Spanish abilities active, and also to build confidence and comprehension. This book does many things for a student: 1) builds vocabulary 2) improves comprehension level 3) motivates students to find out "what happens" 4) provides a new way to increase Spanish knowledge.
As a teacher of ages 3 to 18 year olds, I use excerpts from these books here and there, and use them for a Summer Spanish reading program each summer. Great idea and execution!
Sra. Gose
Author of Flip Flop Spanish: Ages 3-5: Level 1
- This is an excellent 'beginning' book for anyone who wants to increase their Spanish learning.
It consists of 300 of the most frequently used words in a first year Spanish class that make up a wonderful story.
It is suitable, I feel, for anyone from Middle School to adult.
- I teach first-year high school Spanish and I use Pobre Ana near the end of the course. I could use it earlier as well.
The chapters are short. The story contrasts life in California with life in Tepic, Mexico, all through the eyes of Ana. Ana is from California and doesn't think her quality of life is adequate since she doesn't have a new Mustang, et.al. However, once in Mexico she sees that relationships and the things she can control (like knowing Spanish well) are more important. The story is a good language learning tool, especially the obviously necessary use of the indirect object pronouns throughout with all the "she said to them", "he said to her" tags. I would have given 5 stars, but my early edition had a couple of character's names mixed up. I assume that this has been corrected by now.
