  1. I can read this book to my little girl over and over and she just loves it!!!!

  2. I did daycare for 16 years and this book made it everyday at reading time. One of the kids always picked it. They laugh and smile to this story. I love that they made a spanish version.

  3. i was surprised to find out my baby liked this book. I thought the brown and muted colors would be a turn-off but baby enjoys it. I bought it when my son was a baby and not as a toddler he still enjoys it.

  4. This is as great as the original English version. The book will help a child become accustomed to hearing another language from early on. Great for a non-English speaker to read to your child.

  1. I really like the book. I have the English version, which is a classic, so I bought the Spanish version which is acceptable.

  2. As the little rabbit goes to sleep, he wishes a good night to everything he sees - from the mittens hanging out to dry to the playful cats, his comb and brush, and of course, the moon. The words have a soothing rhythm and the rabbit's room gets darker as one moves through the book. Nightime is falling and it's time for bed. Recommended for bedtime reading.

  3. Great for learning spanish since my son knows the english version so well. It is identical but in spanish.

  4. Look, this book is a classic in its original English version; its rhymes are central to its greatness and are unequalled in translation. Though the Spanish version is not defective, it just does not have the same charm that the rhymes have in the original.

Get this book in English, and choose books translated into Spanish whose text are not central to their enjoyment (e.g., Buenas noches, Gorila), or choose books originally written by Spanish language authors.

Este libro es un clásico en su idioma original: el inglés. Aunque la traducción al español no sea defectuosa, no está a la altura del lenguaje de las rimas en inglés.

Aconsejo que compres este libro en inglés, y que compres libros traducidos al español que no dependan tanto del texto (e.g., Buenas noches, Gorila); o, compre libros escritos por hispanohablantes.

  5. The pictures are lifeless, is boring my baby did not even look at it.
    waste of money

  1. I've seen the movie and loved it. I decided to buy the Spanish version of this book to keep up my Spanish skills. This book is very easy to read in Spanish and I would highly recommend it to any English speaker practicing their Spanish reading.

  3. The "free shipping" is not accurate as per the Amazon offer when I was purchasing, but the product was excellent.

  4. Excelente trabajo literario: Disfrute mucho la lectura del mismo. Continuare con la lectura de los proximos y lo recomiendo para el disfrute
    de todos.

  1. Como Amazon cumple con todo lo prometido. Muy buen sistema de compras. Ojalas pueda abrirse al resto del continente americano.

  2. I've read comments from people saying that they didn't like the book because Bella develops feelings for Jacob... but I loved that twist in the story because hey, it does happen!!!! She was completely broken-hearted, and Jacob was able to help her, at least, to stop being a ghost and be more human. EDWARD left her, and she mourned for his loss even while being with Jacob. And he was her "Sun", her balm. Put her love for Edward was too strong, and it "eclipsed" what she felt for her friend. So Edward was her true love, but he HAD to be punished for being so stupid and leaving her in the 1st place. Actions have consequences. And in Breaking Dawn, Jacob imprinted in their baby and they all become real friends. Great closure. It was a very interesting read!

  4. I'm a die hard tiwlight saga fan!! And I may say that Eclipse is the best one of all! I couldn't stop reading all the phrases from Eduard are just more than you can imagine! Here he shows how deeply in love with bella he is.

  5. No hubo capitulo que no me hiciera transportarme a los hechos. Es perfecto para soñadores como yo...

  1. Pros:

    Colorful
    Bilingual
    Easy to follow
    Teaches Opposites

    Cons:

    Hmm.

  2. I purchased this book because it is written in Spanish with English subtitles and I thought it would be a fun way to teach Spanish to my two year old son. But the book lacks imagination and excitement. It is almost weird to read. I've been reading to my little boy since he was a newborn and needless to say, he loves being read to. He knows what he likes and will pick out the book he wants me to read to him. He was intrigued by the book cover and asked me to read it to him. Not one minute into the reading, he was already picking out another book! I thought it could be the age factor so I read it to my friend's 6 year old- the result was the same! If you're looking for a good book that will capture your little one's attention and will contribute to his/her bilingual needs, this is NOT the book- However, this is my opinion, and it is not necessarily what you may experience if you were to read it to your child.

I hope my review is helpful =o)

  3. Cute little story about a big dog and a little dog who like opposite things. It's pretty obvious that the Spanish was translated from English (as opposed to being originally written in Spanish), but with that said the Spanish seems well translated. Good book for the price.

  4. I read this to my 4-year-old daughter only in Spanish the first few times and she LOVED it. The pictures and ideas convey the meaning of, (what is to her), a foreign language so well! As a barely-fluent speaker myself, the book introduced a few new fun vocabulary words. The context of the story very clearly depicted for her the meanings of the words "despacio" and "deprisa" which quickly turned into a game of running around the house in each of the two manners. Once she realized that the little words underneath were in English, she refused to hear the story in Spanish, but with patience on my part, that has changed slightly :0) The story is just plain really cute, too.

  5. I have a non-profit corp. and took those books to the Dominican and they really enjoyed the book-I would recommend it for youngsters-6-10 Roger/Dominican Team for Dreams,Inc Florida

  1. My boys are not crazy about this book. I love that it is in Spanish and English so all family members can read it to them in their prospective languages but it doesn't seem to grab their attention in either language.

  2. I like how this book is simple and uses pictures to help toddlers learn Spanish (or English) words.

  3. My twins like this book more than I do, so I'm giving it 3 stars rather than 2. It's very simple and the pictures are bright and colorful enough to hold a toddler's attention. I don't like the first picture representing "feliz" as I think it is misleading. It is a bird with notes coming out of his mouth- doesn't represent "happy" so much as "singing". Overall, it is a cute, simple, and very small book that seems to work for toddlers, but not any other age group.

  4. I was expecting there to be actual sentences in this book. There is one feeling per page in english and in spanish. It's fine if you just want to learn the words to some feelings, for that it's great. But, I could do that with a spanish dictionary. I wanted to read actual sentences to my daughter. It would better if it had "I feel..." Rather than just the one word. But again, if you just want to teach words of feelings, then it's good for that.

  5. Fun book for your baby if you want her to learn both english and spanish. The pictures are very colorful. My daughter enjoys repeating the different words every time we read it.

  1. The book came exactly as described. My wife is Colombian and she has fallen in love with the series.

  2. No hay nada como leeer en tu propio idioma. Este libro es mi favorito de toda la serie de Twilight.

  3. Soy amante de la saga; sin embargo mis favoritos son el primero y el segundo. Es bueno, pero llega el momento en que desespera pues pone cosas que creo que no debieron tener mucha relevancia. Debió centrarse más en otras cosas. Pero en fin, hay que leerlo pues es el último.

  4. I highly recommend this book. I could not put it down. Very fast delivery ...Thank you..

  5. When I ordered this book I didn't look close enough and got a book in Spanish, I meant to buy the book in English.

  1. I am learning spanish and this book was a great learning tool. We can all relate to Dr Seuss and it falls right in line to help learn the language. It is a confidence builder to pick up the book and understand the contents.

  2. Dr. Seuss was such a gifted children's books writer, he knows how to keep kids engaged and amused -and adults too! Aida Marcuse (the translator) did a phenomenal job translating this one. IMO it's even more fun than the original version in English. Though often not the literal words since that would be impossible, the clever translation nevertheless conveys the meaning accurately while still keeping the rhymes and the flow of the story. It's such a fun read, my three-year old son asks for it often. We've been endlessly entertained reading this. Nos gusta mucho Huevos Verdes con Jamón, gracias, gracias Dr. Seuss & Aida Marcuse -this is a real treat!

  3. This is a great book for young and old, it has a lot of repeating phases that help to really
    get it in your head.

  4. Needed something in Spanish for read-aloud at Dr. Seuss Night at local elementary school. This was perfect - a little tongue-twisty in spots, but so, so much better than than the Spanish version of The Cat In the Hat, which is a literal translation with no rhyme.

  5. We had a lot of fun with this book during "Read Across America" week. I am a bilingual speech therapist and the teacher and I read the English and Spanish versions together (she read the page, then I would). We had 11 kids with us, 6 of them live in Spanish-speaking homes. I loved to see the bilingual students light up as they heard the English and Spanish versions. The English speaking kids thought it was great too. One even commented, "I know what gracias means...Thank you". Excellent pick for a bilingual lesson!

  1. Me ha encanto esta historia de dicha que ya compre la coleccion completa. Confieso que crei que realmente era solo para jovencitos pero en realidad es una historia encantadora para cualquier edad.

  2. I felt for Bella when Edward left and seeing her best friend fall in love with her when she is so broken hearted is no easy. She only has a heart for Edward but Jacob is the best friend anyone can ever have. He is there to be her sunshine in the darkest time of her life.

  5. When my daughter insisted I watch Twilight, I bought this book the next day.

I expected this second book in the Twilight series to be about vampires, but the plot took a werewolf turn. The novel turned out to be quite thought-provoking, with underlying themes about patience, tolerance, honor, respect, and accepting "people" who are different from us.

I should have know that with all the talk about the series, there would be a lot to like.

Despite a genre which seems overdone, I was surprised by the unexpected. I can even appreciate a little sappiness when the book is such an interesting and quick read.

A visual delight for the mind, some values I like, and a thrilling roller-coaster of a entertainment.

  1. The previous reviews were written a few years ago, so I don't know if the book was changed (the Spanish version), but we own both the English and Spanish books, and I think the translation was great. The rhyming was done excellently, and the Spanish version conveyed the meaning within the English version. My daughter loves this book and we read it practically every night. It is very cute! We ended up getting the other sandra boynton spanish board books because of this one.

  2. I love the book, I have the English version which is adorable so I wanted the Spanish version as well. The translation is acceptable.

  3. Was excited to find this book and give to my nephew but the board is really thin and cheap. I have an 8 mos. old now and know how important it is for the board books to be tough and sturdy. The text and pictures themselves are fine.

  4. I read the one-star review, and I think it's a bit harsh. To translate and rhyme is quite difficult, and Spanish is not as easy to rhyme in when you have a prescribed sentence to convey.

So, sure, it's not the easiest, simplest form to read, but I do believe the spirit of the English version is still intact. My children, students, and I all enjoy this book, and read it regularly for fun, and also for extra practice for their Spanish reading skills. My older students enjoy translating it and using it to practice grammatical structures.

All in all, Boynton does a great job with the pictures and stories, and I believe the translation is as good as it could be really - it depends on the reader and the voice inflection. Huevos Verdes con jamón is by far the BEST translated rhyming book I've seen, though. El gato en el sombrero is WAY worse than this.... so I think it's worth having in your library.

  5. Cute book. I'm so thankful many of these books are now translated into Spanish. This is very encouraging to bi-lingual/bi-cultural families.
