2 comments about The Allen Book of Painting and Drawing Horses.
- The drawings and watercolors in this book are utterly beautiful. A beginner might want a second book but this should be in everyone's library. It shows how to create beginning drawings to mature accomplished drawings and they all capture the magic and mystery of the horse. Its my favorite horse drawing book!!!!
- I was dissipointed in the fact that it was mostly drawing and NOT painting. The price is too high for such a small amount of pages.
The drawings are well done , but for beginngers. Anyone who loves horses will love it anyway.

1 comments about The Hank Weiscamp Story: The Authorized Biography of the Legendary Colorado Horseman.
- Hank Wiescamp ultimately breed some of the greatest horses from four registeries - Quarter, Appalossa, Palomino, and Paint. "The Hank Wiescamp Story" allows the reader to understand how and why Hank made many breeding decisions to create the great "Wiescamp horse". After this book, you too will appreciate what Hank Wiescamp has done to create many of the modern breeds.
Hats off to Hank...... Highly recommend this book for all. Pictures, pedigrees and stories. However, 207 pages could not begin to touch the surface of the 70 years it took to create the "Wiescamp horse".

5 comments about Riding Success Without Stress: Introducing the Alexander Technique (Riding Success Without Stress).
- You'd think that the author would have the sense not to use her own name when (rave) reviewing her own book.
- That Ms. Bentley has apparently written 4 of the previous 7 reviews? If this book is as amazing as she says, shouldn't she be able to convince other people to write reviews for her?
- I was introduced to Alexander Technique and Centered Riding (separately) several years ago as a beginning adult rider. After several CR clinics, I gained a basic understanding of how Sally Swift uses Alexander. This book stands alone, but as a companion to Centered Riding, particularly Sally's new book, it will help you gain a lot more understanding of how your balance and centering affect your horse's way of going.
I had an opportunity to review the book with a Level IV CR instructor, and she was impressed. Many of the concepts and exercises she does in her clinics are there, and there are a many clever illustrations that clarify the concepts. It doesn't make any difference what level or discipline you ride. This book and Centered Riding 2 are a terrific set to help you take your riding to new levels.
- As an equine osteopath of ten years I was delighted to see in Joni's book many of the answers I had been looking for to stop people injuring their horses. Joni has a unique insight into the mechanics of the horse, yet can make complicated issues appear simple and easily understood. I feel this book will become a classic. Buy it, read, do it.
- Here is the book of the millennium and my new bible Centre Riding was the revolutionary book of it's time. Here is it's successor. The expertise and logic of Joni Bentley's training is so astounding it will amaze riders at all levels. Whether you want to brows or get deeply involved in it's technicalities, it is a stunning insight into how to do less and achieve more, horse and rider interact naturally yet classically. Each chapter starts with lively, brain teasing quotes, which are intriguing and so Poignant. This book gives you the tools and awareness to work in harmony with your horse The author uses gripping personal stories to pin point were we are going wrong in training. showing how fundamental problems are glossed over with quick fixs. Although it is fun and easy to read it's message is profound. Joni Bentley has a brilliant knack of drawing you in to her unique world of training. Check out her web site ... Most books are written for the perfect rider and the perfect horse this book is written for you. It deals with real bodies minds and spirits, and honours the horse as the teacher throughout. Riding Success Without Stress will change your life do your horse a favour and buy it now.

2 comments about Maintaining a Natural Horse: Essential Understanding for choosing and keeping a barefoot riding horse.
- There was some good information contained in this book, but the writing style made it difficult to follow. It's almost as if the writer dictated his thoughts and then transcribed them because there was a bit of rambling.
I was hoping to see some photos and a more detailed discussion, which is why I rated this good but not great.
- I got this as a gift combined with Ware's two videos. Really enjoyed reading it. Lots of stories from actual experience. Lots of good explanations. Different from what you'll find from others. If you've got an open mind, there's lots of good info here.

2 comments about Equine Essential Oils.
- I purchased the book because it was described by the reviewer to be about Young Living Oils. I am using that line of oils so the book was perfect. I look forward to learning more.
- I purchased this to review for my client bookshelf. I opened the first page and skimmed the rest and quickly realized that it is all associated with Young Living, a multi-level marketing company.
This should be clearly stated in the product description as there is a great deal of controversy regarding Young Living, its ethics and the techniques that it uses. Many aromatherapy and essential oil practioners disagree with the practices of Young Living for safety reasons. I am giving one star because professionals dealing with essential oils are fully aware of the Young Living debate and to not mention that the book deals with the usage of their oils and techniques is misleading. The book is being returned today.
Alternatives that are not tied to any company or organization and are helpful in regards to Equine Essential oils for the home user, are "Essential Oils for Horses" by Carole Faith or the simple and easy to use "Aromatherapy for Horses" by Caroline Ingraham. I highly recommend these two books.

3 comments about Horsing Around in Wisconsin (A Trails Books Guide) (A Trails Books Guide).
- Professional writer and rider of 33 years' experience in the saddle Anne Connor presents Horsing Around In Wisconsin: The State's Best Stables, Barns, And Trails For Lessons And Training, a straightforward guide to anyone looking to discover the joy of horseback riding in Wisconsin, whether as an adult or a parent seeking to teach a child. Filled with information on 260 stables and barns suitable for boarding and renting, descriptions of 85 of Wisconsin's prime horse trails, places that teach riding lessons to all ages, and much more, Horsing Around In Wisconsin is a superb resource. Maps and detailed directions to various locations, as well as descriptions and summaries of what to expect, simplify the issues of travel and what to expect before one experiences firsthand the connection between horse and rider. An excellent guide for equine enthusiasts, especially useful for those seeking to spend a vacation riding.
- I've lived in Wisconsin for 7 years and had no idea how many equestrian pleasures were all around me. Well written, with great pictures, this book is a real inspiration to get out of the armchair and into the saddle. I selected a trail ride for a troop of Girl Scouts based on the book's description and found it right on the mark - the stable was exactly as described and the girls had a great time. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes horses and can imagine themselves seeing more of the State on horseback.
- This book is fantastic! The author has been incredibly thorough in her research of the best horse stables, barns and trails around Wisconsin. It's well organized so information can easily be found depending on what part of the state you live in or are visiting. I especially liked all the added details such as which barns or trails were good for kids. She has even included therapeutic riding stables and what they offer. I haven't seen anything like this guide available anywhere. Even the pictures are great and add a lot to the book. I recommend this book to anyone interested in riding or getting their kids involved in riding.
