- Expertly edited by Hossein Amirsadeghi with enhanced with full color photographs from Rik van Lent Sr. and Rik van Lent Jr. and an informative text by Peter Upton, Arabians is an extensive pictorial documentation and understanding of a distinctive equine of historic lineage -- the Arabian Horse. Providing readers with an detailing of the breeds origin, use, recorded development, and the interesting historical significance of the prestigious and fascinating animal. Arabians is very highly recommended as illustrated compendium of detailed writings about a truly noble and enduringly popular animal.

As a EMT student,I find the book most helpfull. It actually shows the proper positioning of the hands to achieve the desired result; which makes life easier for the person just starting out. Great work Mike!

5 comments about More How Your Horse Wants You to Ride: Advanced Basics, The Fun Begins (Howell Equestrian Library).
- I LOVE this book (and its predecessor) - they FAR exceeded my expectations, and even after 18 years of formal training under instructors' guidance, I have learned so much from this wonderful book. Beginner or advanced rider, this is honestly a must-read...and I do not say that too often about books! It was a pleasant surprise to see the size of this book and its companion - they are not flimsy or overly brief in the least, but there is no superfluous content, photos or diagrams to confuse you, either. I wish there were more books around by this author!
- A really great and useful book !
- I bought this book thinking I would want it later, after my riding had improved through the program in _How Your Horse Wants You to Ride_. It sat around unread for a long time because I thought I wasn't ready for the advanced material yet. Then I peeked inside and found out that MORE doesn't just pick up where the first book left off. MORE starts at the beginning and adds to the material in the first book, at every level. There is material in there that is way too advanced for me but there is also a whole lot that isn't. There is some review, some overlap of what's in the first book, in addition to the new material. Take a peek, you'll find that MORE begins with the Seven Steps, progresses to working with the horse on the ground, and so on. So don't wait to read MORE. It will give you more, no matter where you are on your journey.
- In her third book, this companion to "How Your Horse Wants You To Ride", Gincy gives us another collection of her deep insights into horse behavior, comfort and motivation. Every nuance of equine behavior is covered. Every situation that will arise is here with solutions in easily understood text and excellent photo illustrations.
This, and the earlier book, form a complete manual for riders from their early beginnings, through to mastery and enjoyment of riding. In fact, through building confidence and understanding from the start, it assures that both the horse and rider will enjoy their times together. It is all done with warmth, kindlness and complete understanding of the rider's point of view as well as that of the horse. These books offer lots of support and knowledge for anyone working with and enjoying horses.
For the instructor "More HYHWYTR" with its companion book, provides a wonderful basis for planning lessons and dealing with every day to day situation that arises with riding students and their mounts.
As in her earlier books, Gincy focuses on building the rider's confidence as well as her skill.
Gincy's decades of experience teaching, training, riding and loving horses comes clearly through to us in her enjoyable and helpful books.
More HYHWYTR is a 'must have' for everyone who rides, from pre-beginner to confident expert..
- This IS the perfect addition to the Author,Gincy Bucklins', previous two books. With her years of knowledge she has the ability to simplify and pass on to others the most affective way to accomplish our goals with our Horses. She also has a great concern for the horses comfort as she attempts to allow us to learn or relearn the correct way to ride in balance and safety. All of her books recap The Seven Steps which has proven to be an invaluable asset for both rider and horse.I cannot praise or thank Ms Bucklin enough for the three books she has written and the help she has given to so many ....MORE, GINCY, MORE!

5 comments about Healing for Horses: The Essential Guide to Using Hands-On Healing Energy with Horses.
- I found this book so helpful in learning about horses. Not only about healing and energy work but also about the soul of the horse. We have so much to learn about these magnificent animals. By reading Margrit Coates book I know that I will too become an animal healer. I encourage any one who loves horses and interested in learning about healing touch to read it.
- This book is useful, easy to read and understand. It is written in clear prose, with a nice flow, and sense of humor. Just the right amount of pictures and explanations. Thanks for the good work.
- A beautifully written book that is easy to read and understand. The stories are moving, and the directions for beginning healing yourself on your own horse, are clear and concise with wonderful diagrams and pictures to further explain how to go about it. I have tried some of the techniques with my elderly horse who recently lost his best horse buddy, and have seen definite results. It is a book worth reading.
- Excellent price and a really fine hard cover book that will give anyone reading it many insights into the animal world/mind.
Highly recommend...

- This is a great book with lots of pictures (very helpful for the more visually orientated) and in full color. Has been very helpful in training my mares :o)
- This book is very helpful to me in traing myself and my horses. The method presented in this book is very easy to follow. I recomend it to thos looking for help or a method of training.
- I recently purchased a new mare. We had 2 really good rides and the 3rd was a disaster! The mare began bucking violently, without warning, and I was thrown to the ground. I purchased this book because the cover listed "bucking" as a problem area addressed in the book. I receieved the book and cannot find one thing about bucking. To say the least, I was very disappointed!!!
- A very good book and helpful, but the front is misleading, there is only one tiny mention of bucking help, which is not enough.

2 comments about The Horse Show Mom's Survival Guide: For Every Discipline.
- I taught riding lessons for several years, and was always appalled at the parents who would never learn anything about horses, horse behavior, horse shows, etc. They put their children on 1000+ lb beasts with minds of their own, and yet never educated themselves about that 1000+ lb beast. This book at least helps parents wade their way through the horse show business (a very BIG business), and does at least hint about the mild fraud that is at the heart of all horse shows (your kid's trainer is not well-known, or, worse, is not well-liked? then your kid won't get the top ribbons). Ultimately, when the kid wins ribbons, and the number of ribbons is divided by the amount of total dollar outlay by the parents, they learn that each ribbon could cost them as much as $500 at some of the bigger shows. In any event, this is a nice, cheery intro into this world, and I recommend it.
- Loved the book. Lot of information explained in a fun, creative way. A must have for horse show Mom's at all levels!

3 comments about America's Last Wild Horses: The Classic Study of the Mustangs--Their Pivotal Role in the History of the West, Their Return to the Wild, and the Ongoing Efforts to Preserve Them.
- This book first came to my attention when I saw a review of it in Time Magazine, 1970(!), and then again in a National Geographic issue 1977.
My first copy (Ballantine Books, Inc. May 1973) became so dog-eared and worn, that I bought the revised edition (Lyons Press) as a gift to myself in Dec 2000.
Quite a remarkable book in it's history, coverage and research. The mustang has been much maligned by ranchers and the U.S. government as a nuisance and classified as "domestic strays," thus various methods have been used to round up these poor beasts (remember the film "The Misfits"?)and subject them to every kind of mistreatment imagineable, including death.
Thankfully, through the efforts of Ms Ryden and her book, and various animal protection agencies, we now recognize the important contribution and legacy that these horses have played in the history and settlement of the American west. They are the only living heritage and symbol of the history of the west, and as such, should be granted protection as an endangered species from all levels of government in the U.S.
A truly wonderful book. A must have for every horselover. Belongs with Ms Ryden's companion book "Wild Horses I Have Known" which features full colour, full page, never before published photographs not seen in her first book.
- I learned a lot about how the West was formed from this book. Hope has done some wonderful research on this topic. I agree with Hope about the US government's mistreatment of wild animals. They're disgusting and they're still spewing their false propaganda to get the naive American public to believe their falsehoods. However, Hope makes several extremely pro-Canada opinions which I disagree about. First of all, the Canadian government has allowed wild horse hunting to be legal, even today. There are only 200 wild horses left in Canada, compared to about 37,000 (BLM estimates - who knows how truthful they are) in the American wild. Canada treats its wild animals dastardly. Each year, hundreds of thousands of baby seals are slaughtered for their fur. Their bloody carcasses are strewn on the virgin white snow, a sad and tragic reminder of the callousness of the Canadian government to its wild animals. They're no better than the US government when it comes to wild animals and I think in some ways, the US government is better than their northern counterparts, especially over the last thirty odd years. Canada also has an ancient and very archaic domestic animal protection law. Last year, animal protection agencies worked to have a new, tougher law passed but it was defeated in Parliament.
- This is an excellent resource for anyone interested in wild horses and mustangs. The author does a great job of providing historical knowledge and facts about the early relationship between wild horses and men, and about how horses roamed America before they were reintroduced by Europeans. The author also discusses current issues involving mustangs and their future in the American West. This book is so good I definately needed it for my personal collection.

2 comments about The Rider's Problem Solver.
- After buying Jahiel's HORSE TRAINING PROBLEM SOLVER, I sought out her other PROBLEM SOLVER books. This one is as good as the others, and like the others is applicable to both the beginner and the advanced rider. Jahiel follows the same horsewoman's philosophy that I do: Do what's best for the horse. The Q&A format of the book makes it fun to read, and even as an experienced horsewoman I found tips that I could use, every day. For any rider facing challenges, chances are good that you'll find the answer from Jahiel. Your horse will have a happier life when you apply her sensible--and even more important, compassionate--advice.
- If you can only ride a horse several times a year, that doesn't leave you out of THE RIDER'S PROBLEM SOLVER: in fact, it makes it more important - and thus deserving of ongoing recommendation. If you only have a few days, you have to master riding quickly - and understand common problems in advance; that's where THE RIDER'S PROBLEM SOLVER comes in, gathering typical questions from author Jahiel's 'Horse Sense Newsletter of Holistic Horsemanship' to provide quick solutions. Use this as a reference before each ride and address riding challenges quickly as a result.
