1. ISBN 0590090720 - Danny has a pony but he wants a horse. He's getting too big for a pony. When Uncle Mack is hired to catch a group of wild horses, Danny is allowed to go along. They find a herd and Danny spots a white horse holding his head proudly. This is the kind of horse he'd like to have, he thinks. And, once the job is done, he gets that horse! Danny spends time taming the horse he has named Star and when Star goes missing during a storm, Danny is sure that something is wrong. Star is tame now, and wouldn't have returned to the wild horses, but he hasn't come home, either! Where can he be? And will Danny ever find him again?
   
   Nice story, a little dated, but kids' books tend to stand up to time fairly well because kids are less picky than adults. Young horse lovers and budding Western fans will enjoy the story and it ends with a couple nice lessons in honesty and friendship. The illustrations are black and white and suit the era of the story perfectly.

1. It is amazing when someone writes a book how they can forget the facts about how something really happened. I wouldn't believe everything you read in this book because I can verify that some of it is definitely not true.



2. I have known Tena and Bear for many years and have also known most of the horses in the book. I hoped for years that she would finally write this book. These stories are amazing and each of them teach a first hand lesson of grief, chalenge, love and a sincere passion for horses. Way to go Tena, loved the book. From the antics of Clarissa to losing Teddy, it was fun to read about it all after witnessing it first hand. I like how she refers to the people as handlers instead of trainers because it seems everyone is calling themselves trainers these days. This book is an easy read and full of stories you will want to share with all of your horse friends.



3. This book is well written, full of real understanding and common sense. For any person looking to buy their first horse, or for someone looking to learn more regarding care and loving of a horse, this book is a must. Written from actual experiences over 20+ years of living with and caring for horses.



4. This is the best collection of horse experiences that I've ever read. If you want true to the heart stories, this would be the book to buy. I found it to be as heart warming and heart wrenching as the Chicken Soup for the Soul books. I laughed and I cried. Who could ask for more?



5. I took a little time to read parts of this book. It is wonderful. The Author took the time to put feeling into her words about the horses and people. I believe the author Tena Bastian did an excellent job. I have suggested this book to others. I will be taking more time in the future to completely read the book. Great Job, Tena
