1 comments about Training for Trail Horse Classes (Equi Skills).
- This a good book on trail for the money. It covers some really good tips that I didn't know and had never heard of before. Using some of the advice in this book I was able to successfully traverse a complicated trail course with my three year old in just a few days. It is easy to read and easy to understand.

5 comments about Founder: Prevention and Cure the Natural Way.
- I have many books on founder and laminitis- Having a pony that has had and got founder again it really helped me with the right path and makes total sense. Excited to see the results as she is already walking better now.
- Some good information here but some of it has been outdated, particularly with the research by Kathryn Watts (safergrass.org) - that free choice hay herein recommended may be making things worse. Other information pertinent to the discussion is alluded to but you have to pay again for this as it is in other publications by the same author.
- A must read for the intelligent & caring horse owner. Paying attention to this "perspective" of horse management is the best way to express how interested you are in the welfare of your horse.
- He tells you in body of the book that he will provide information at the end that he forgot to provide!!
- I have not yet received this book although it was ordered on the 15th June.

- Understanding Equine Nutrition, Revised Edition (Horse Health Care Library)
I teach Equine Science and require this book for my students. It is easy to read but just as informative as a textbook. This book would be great for the long-time horse owner or someone just starting out. I highly recommend this book.
- This is a great book, and is a very easy read & well organized. I would definitely suggest this book be on every horse owner's shelf.
- This is a complete book on horse nutrition, including the newest trends. Covers the new debate over whether grain is best for your horse or not. Short discussions on nutritionally related diseases, such as polysaccharide storage myopathy and laminitis. Written by a nutritionist. Check it out, and check out Horse Illustrated magazine too!

2 comments about The Rider's Problem Solver.
- After buying Jahiel's HORSE TRAINING PROBLEM SOLVER, I sought out her other PROBLEM SOLVER books. This one is as good as the others, and like the others is applicable to both the beginner and the advanced rider. Jahiel follows the same horsewoman's philosophy that I do: Do what's best for the horse. The Q&A format of the book makes it fun to read, and even as an experienced horsewoman I found tips that I could use, every day. For any rider facing challenges, chances are good that you'll find the answer from Jahiel. Your horse will have a happier life when you apply her sensible--and even more important, compassionate--advice.
- If you can only ride a horse several times a year, that doesn't leave you out of THE RIDER'S PROBLEM SOLVER: in fact, it makes it more important - and thus deserving of ongoing recommendation. If you only have a few days, you have to master riding quickly - and understand common problems in advance; that's where THE RIDER'S PROBLEM SOLVER comes in, gathering typical questions from author Jahiel's 'Horse Sense Newsletter of Holistic Horsemanship' to provide quick solutions. Use this as a reference before each ride and address riding challenges quickly as a result.

2 comments about Understanding Equine Hoof Care (Horse Health Care Library).
- I was very happy with the way the book was written from start to finish, it gave me alot of information and very easy to understand. It was agreat book.
- I got this book because I wanted to understand more about hoof care, as at the barn I was at there were many discussions on whether a horse should be barefoot or wear shoes. I think this book is good at covering the basics of horse hoof care but does spend more time on the topic of shoes and types etc. I only gave it 4 stars because I would have liked more information on keeping your horse barefoot. But for a first basic book I think it is a good first step and gives you the basics so you can decided what you want to look further into.

5 comments about What Horses Say: How to Hear, Help and Heal Them.
- Interesting book, easy to read with sometimes amazing stories. Good book for anyone who thinks a deeper communication with animals is possible, and who wants to know what horses think about the way we're dealing with them.
- This is not a step-by-step guide as to how to hear and convey information with horses - rather it is more a compendium of wonderful successes of having done so. It will help fill out the scope of your appreciation of what's possible in animal communication; especially with horses. There are interesting statistics associated with each major subject tackled (saddles. freedoms, companionship and more) based on the experiences of one talented and highly regarded equine specialist. She has kept track of the information she has received from all of her clients and compiles a lot of that information here. Her methods reiterate those expounded on in other books on this same subject, but again, this is not deeply explored in this little volume. I may not advise you to start with this book in your search for how-tos, but I would recommend it as a collection of successes that will add depth to your overall knowledge on the subject of animal communication.
- While the book was a great read it was not a how to book. I wanted more help with animal communication. This book really just gave extraordinary examples of a fabulous animal communicator so as to convince nonbelievers, but there wasn't a how to part.
- This book is actually about a "psychic" who "talked" to the horses and then writes down the horses' "responses". I really didn't get that idea from the written description of the book before I ordered it. I was really disappointed in the concept as it seemed rather silly in some of the "responses" this psychic recorded! Waste of money.
- This is an excellent book. Thoroughly enjoyed it and learned so much from it.

5 comments about Taking Up Riding as an Adult (Horse-Wise Guides Series).
- I enjoyed the book. It gave me many good tips on excercising to help strengthen muscles I forgot I had't used in a long time. Also good tips on caring for a horse. It had been 35 years since I had owned a horse and I remembered not alot. I would recommend it for anyone taking up riding or brushing up on long forgotten skills.
- Very good reference. Follows right along with my riding lessons. Written with a nice touch of humor.
- After buying this book, you then discover that there is a WHOLE other series of books they want you to buy afterwards. This book barely covers the areas I thought it would. Almost the entire book preaches on where to learn, and where to buy, and board a horse. But doesnt barely, or not even, covers the step by step essentials of how to groom, apply tack, or even how to ride a horse. They want you to buy the other books to learn that information. Save your money.
- I'm 43, and I bought this book after I'd been riding for a year, because I wanted to go over the basics again and make sure that I was doing things right! (I was pleased to find out that I am, thanks to a great instructor/school horse/farm.) I especially like the way the author stresses safety while also noting that, while accidents will happen, it's very unlikely that you'll be seriously injured--IF you ride safely.
Another thing I like is that she plays up the social/fun aspects of riding. While I'm sure there are "horsey snobs," I've not yet met any here in Knoxville, and have found other riders to be friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic. If you love horses & riding, you're "in the club"; there's no need to be bashful about being a beginning adult rider! This is a great little book, and I recommend it to any adult who's new to riding or thinking about learning how to ride.
- This book is well worth the price. It provides and excellent overview to the entire equestrian sport. Illustrations are clear; photographs, while not in color, are helpful (not just decorations); the copy is concise. The author has excellent knowledge of the sport and command of the english language. This book is great for any adult looking to take up the sport or parent seeking to better understand his/her child's passion.

5 comments about A Gymnastic Riding System Using Mind, Body, and Spirit: Progressive Training for Rider and Horse.
- This book does a great job of going through the development of rider and horse from the beginning. It teaches you all of the elements you need to be able to have a real relationship with your horse that is based on trust.
- Definitely a "must have" for all those interested in dressage as a sport and for other diciplines wishing to improve their horses. Gives a well-rounded approach to riding including being responsible as riders to be sympathetic and diciplined.
I especially liked the chapter about the horse's willingness and how to improve that. I give Betsy Steiner a lot of credit for making dressage theory clear and practical while speaking to those with years of experience. Great pictures and summary tables to clarify the rather detailed training maps. After many half-read dressage books that seem repetitive this one will be one I can use in real life as I train on my own at the moment.
I look forward to more of Betsy's work.
- Glad I picked the book from the line up. Well written guide on approaches to improve one's riding. Excellent publication, highly recommended.
- This is an excellent book with a approach that is easly to follow. I've read many books about the pyrimid approach, but this book really made sence of it. The outlined format is what I like. It's concise and to the point! I copied the pyrimid and posted in the tack room as a quick reference.
- I've read Riding Success Without stress, Centered Riding, & Natural Riding & really didn't find them worth the purchase price because I had done kickboxing, ballet, stretching, & yoga before I ever got on a horse, so I already knew how to use my center muscles. Not that I don't have more to learn. But what I need is in this book. It's complete.
In case you need to know- in the title- 'spirit' = 'emotions'
