5 comments about All Horse Systems Go: The Horse Owner's Full-Color Veterinary Care and Conditioning Resource for Modern Performance, Sport and Pleasure Horses.
- This is a book that all serious horse owners will benefit from. Without being too techincal, the author explains the horse in flowing narrative. Illustrations are also excellent.
- This is a superb vet book and a great value. Awesome research and information. It's a steal for the price for what you will learn. Along with this book I bought Equine Behavior by Paul McGreevy which is the best book on behavior and training I have ever read. Both of these books are a must for the horseman's library. My only complaint about this book is that the hoof section did not address the barefoot horse and and was focused on shoeing.
- Excellent book. A must for horse owners who see their equines as amazing athletes. Really liked the section on conformation!
- I really like the content. I like the photos, I like the way it's written and most of all, I like the fact that I can understand it. I would say that this book belongs on every horse owner's bookshelf as a reference guide.
- Dr. Loving has done it again with this comprehensive horse owner's "survival' guide. There is nothing left untouched and every horse owner needs to have this book in their library. I read it cover to cover and have dragged it out on many occasions for answers to questions. Dr. Loving converts equine science into lay terms with outstanding photographs illustrating the topic of discussion. I can't thank her enough for her concern for the horse and the years spent compiling this amazing book. I just wish I lived closer to her clinic in Colorado to utilize her vet skills 'hands-on'.

5 comments about The Complete Guide to Hunter Seat Training, Showing, and Judging: On the Flat and Over Fences.
- I had previously used Anna Jane's book on Judging Hunter Seat Equitation and loved it - this book surpasses that one! The photographs are excellent, descriptive, and complete the narrative. The line drawings are an excellent way to assist students in understanding what we are trying to convey. The explanations of correct execution of the tests are superb. I also coach an interscholastic riding team and testing is required, so I have begun using these explanations to enhance the weekly work. I have recommended this book to other trainers and my riding students and will continue to share it with others.
- I host monthly horse shows at my farm (Rivermont Farm) in NW GA and several years back I noticed one of my judges had a book sitting in front of her titled "Judging Hunters and Hunter Seat Equitation". This was the first time I was introduced to Anna Jane White Mullin. This judge told me her book was a must have for anyone in the hunter world. I began reading Anna Jane's books from that point on and have highly recommeneded them to my students and friends in the horse world. Anna Jane has such a wonderful way of explaining everything to where anyone can understand. I have no doubt you will not be disappointed in any of Anna Jane White Mullin's books!
- Anna Jane's updated "Guide to Hunter Seat" builds on her previous two books. Her systematic approach begins with the basics and smoothly transitions through the steps to become a more proficient rider. The judging section is not just for judges, it helps prepare the rider for the ring by exploring performance and skills through the judge's eyes. There are many valuable topics related to solving problems with both the rider and horse. All of this is supported by an array of illustrations and spectacular color images demonstrating the proper movements. This is an excellent guide for riders at any level and provides the tools to successfully train and compete.
- Love this book - very informative - after reading it I still refer to it often
- According to the publisher: "Based on her acclaimed Winning and complemented by the inclusion of the recently revised version of Judging Hunters and Hunter Seat Equitation (to date the only book of its kind, now completely re-photographed in full color), The Complete Guide offers instruction to horsemen of every level. Featuring a complete discussion of USEF tests, rules and requirements, hundreds of color photos including today's top riders, never before has such a complete text on these highly regarded disciplines been compiled."

5 comments about Manual of Equine Reproduction.
- THIS IS A SIMPLE TEXT,YOU CAN FIND EVERYTHING ABOUT REPRODUCTION EXPLAINED IN A DIDACTIVE WAY.
- This is an excellent book for those looking to learn more about the basics of equine reproduction, in an easy to read format. While its technical in nature, it is still easy to understand and packed full of excellent information.
I bought it because its written as a text book style book on breeding, but my husband, a relative novice, follows the content easily too. While its not a new edition, its not dated either.
- I purchased this book to become reacquainted with equine reproduction after spending a year in equine practice without reproduction. The text was direct, succinct, and well-versed without extra details that come with other in-depth textbooks. There are many pictures and diagrams, though I would have preferred to see more present. Overall, I feel that the Manual is a great refresher course for veterinarians and equine reproduction specialists. However, I would not recommend this book as the sole text while learning equine reproduction for the first time.
- This book is for the very advanced. It uses all medical terminology and is very basic with details. They assume it is for vet students. There is no glossary and there are highlighted words that they never explain. It is pure awful!!!!
- This book covers every aspect of equine reproduction from the preperation of a stallion prior to the start of the breeding season all the way through to the care and management of the mare and foal post partum. This book covers in absolute detail, the step by step format of every situation that would or could occur during the 15 to 18 month period that leads from conception to post foaling management. This is a book that every farm manager as well as the weekend horse breeder should have access to 24 hours a day.

1 comments about Getting in TTouch with Your Horse: Understand and Influence Personality.
- This book has a different perspective which I found worthwhile. It took me out of my "usual space" when being with my horses so it was refreshing and re motivates when things get stale. If you're short on money though I would reecommnd borrowing her oringinal book from the library

4 comments about Training Thoroughbred Horses.
- The author writes from legendary experience as a thoroughbred trainer. Of course with any knowledge presented it can not possibly include every little detail regarding the subject but certain it can only enhance the experience one can acquire as a trainer.
Be that as it may, my motive behind purchasing this material was not that of becoming a trainer, but rather to become an outstanding horseplayer. To me, the more a horseplayer can learn about the horses including important details about how thoroughbreds are trained, the better.
This book offers exactly the information desired about training. I truly recommend others reviewing this material and also let me know what you think about the information, perhaps we can dialogue about the sport of training thoroughbreds. All the best! --- Stanley Pall
- Impossible that present day horses would beat any horse trained by Preston Burch. Just read the exercise prescriptions in this book and be blown away. I certainly was. Here is carefully controlled training by a trainer understanding that his horses are participating in an athletic event. This is a book about conditioning equine athletes and also contains every other aspect of training and caring for thoroughbred race horses in a well written book by an individual who apparently understood the great care required. I held off reading this fearing it was dated, but what a pleasant surprise to find the extreme if succinct comprehensiveness here, every aspect is covered by a fellow who tried to do everything correctly. This is Ivers before Ivers, and one does wonder whatever happened to trainers like Max Hirsch and Preston Burch.
- If every owner had a trainer like Preston Burch, there would be a lot more owners.
This is a cornerstone book for a racing library. There is a large amount of fundamental training information in this simply written little book. The sections on conditioning schedules are invaluable. The degree of conditioning Burch afforded his horses is probably unmatched today. Read this book, and then end it to your trainer (if he can read).
- If you are just starting out in this business, you should read this book. Preston Burch gives you a simple, direct and enlightening understanding of thoroughbred horses. This book may have been published almost 50 years ago but in every advancement man has made we constantly find ourselves going back to old knowledge and wisdom.

5 comments about Horsekeeping Almanac: The Essential Month-by-Month Guide for Everyone Who Keeps or Cares for Horses.
- Cherry Hill continues to create books with real 'hands on' value. Especially if you are new to caring for horses, this guide will help every step of the way.
- This is just the perfect book to help a horse-owner get organized and stay that way. It's not a "dry-as-dust" list of things to do - it's actually a lot of fun to read, with lots of extras and tidbits just like any almanac has. Cherry Hill writes like someone you'd just like to sit down on the porch and have a cup of coffee with. She's down-to-earth, entertaining, and of course so very knowledgeable. I think that everyone who takes care of horses should have this book. Maybe I'm just partial, but honestly I think that even people who DON'T own horses but might just like to read about them or be ready to assist the horse-owner in their life, should read this book. It's truly a gift from Cherry Hill to the rest of us.
- If you're only going to purchase one book on horse care this is the one to own.
- i really found this book helpful especially for new horse owners. it is also good for people who are considering horses as it gives you an idea of what horse ownership entails. even current horse owners could find some useful tips in it. it may be too basic for someone with a routine already set for them.
- I had always wanted a horse, and I finally got one at age 63. Of all the reading (books and magazines) that I have done through the years, especially since acquiring Beauty two years ago, this is the most practical, down-to-earth book on caring for horses that I have seen. Thank you, Cherry Hill!!

5 comments about Breaking and Training the Driving Horse: A Detailed and Comprehensive Study (Wilshire Horse Lovers Library).
- This is my "Bible" as far as teaching horses to drive. It has been around a long time but the instruction and message it gives still remains the best around. It is always on my list of one of the most valuable books to purchase when learning how to drive.
- I draw better pictures then the diagram person did. The pictures probably looked better in color. I saw more types of show carriages then I cared to look at.
There was actually precious little on breaking the horse to carriage, but plenty of pictures of show carriages.
According to the author all horses will freak out, bolt and trash everything should a blinker driving bridle not be used. Okay, well I look at many pictures of other driving horses, some don't have blinkers and they are minding their driver just fine, so...obviously it can be done with a heck of a lot of patience. not to mention the author explained how to adjust height on the blinkers, but not how to bend them out a little to keep them off the eyeballs of your horse.
Lots left out.
could be improved, but not bad for the price.
- Got this book for my husband and he gives it 5 stars. He would definitely recommend it.
- I have actually trained my horse according to Ms. Ganton's book and it took virtually no time at all. I did not use a bitting rig - as my horse was already being ridden. I had virtually no driving experience and found the book easy to understand and the techniques simple. This is an excellent book for the novice driver. As an added note: my horse was always ridden bitless and no bit was used to teach him to drive. He goes bitless and blinderless. Aside from her strict use of blinders (never used by fire horses back in the day and used very little in Europe and horse farming)I will use her method with every horse I teach to drive.
- Unfortunatley with this book, it didn't give me the information I was looking for. I have driven before, but have never broken a horse to harness, and wanted to make sure I was taking all the right precautions to do it right the frist tim.. I felt this book left alot of questions unasnwered, especially with the grainy and unclear drawings. The insctructions were very unclear and there was no concise "to the point" aspect about them. Honestly, I basically got a review of what I already knew, and felt this book would not be a help for someone breaking her horse to drive. If anythign it is a usefull reference for those already having experience in driving. After reading through it, this book is going in ebay.

5 comments about How Your Horse Moves.
- This book is fantastic! Seeing the muscles and skeleton painted on a live moving horse really helps. And the way it is written is easy to understand.
- This is a fabulous book - It combines Great Visuals applied to everyday horsemanship. It will change how you tack and ride your horse.
I lost my book to my sister the minute she saw it.
- This book is an absolute must have for everyone who cares the least for the welfare of horses.
It gives a strong insight into equine biomechanics in an easy to read and understanding way.
Personally this book not only gave me a big leap forward in my understanding of the horses biomechanics; it also serves as a constant reference guide when reading additional material in the subject. It is the most used book in my equine library and one I will use frequently for the rest of my time as a rider.
- This book is a must have for horse professionals who wish to be able to explain equine anatomy and its importance and relavance to their clients in a concise visual way. I plan to ad this book to my required class material list. How Your Horse Moves is nicely arranged in a logical and systamic format that is easy to read and understand.
- Absolutely a wonderful book!! A lot of good and useful information, written in an easy way to understand and learn. A book every instructor and every rider should read.
