1 comments about Hockey's Odyssey.
- It was the 1984 LA Olympics, like any Indian sports lover I looked to hockey as India's only hope. I was watching live telecast of the match between India vs Australia and was stunned by the sheer pace of the Asssie game which India eventually lost 2-4. This was a legendary team of players like Hasselhurst, Charlesworth, Walsh .....infact all 16 and coach Richard Aggiss.
Trevor Vanderputt's book was a revelation to me as there is hardly anything to read India's hockey history. The emergence of Australia in the 60's as a hockey power has also been credited by many Indian greats to the Anglo-Indians who emigrated there. Trevor is so right when he points out the school-university system that encouraged hockey during the British raj and by the Anglo-Indian community is the most important factor of India's decline. Add poor management, corrupt organisation, lack of media coverage and poor sports culture. My frustrations and patience with Indian hockey knows no bounds. But I still follow up with the team news and the sport; I keep asking myself WHY! I guess its 'hope' provided the egocentrics in Indian system agree to learn from the Aussies.

1 comments about Gold on Ice: The Story of the Sandra Schmirler Curling Team.
- Although everyone has heard the story a thousand times, never before has it been presented with such detail. It's an uplifiting tale of the tortoise beating the hare, David conquering Goliath, success in the face of adversity. You'll be mesmerized as the tales of ice being furiously swept and wood gliding across it are told with a never-before-achieved drama. The title is no lie, the Sandra Schmirler Curling Team is truly "Gold on Ice."

1 comments about Curtis Joseph: The Acrobat (Sport Snaps).
- This book had great action pictures of Cujo. I really liked the tips Cujo gave for younger players to help them to improve their game. I also thought Curtis Joesph's schedule at the end of the book was neat too. Anyone who likes Cujo or the Toronto Maple Leafs should get this book.

1 comments about Nhl Hockey: The Official Fan's Guide (NHL Hockey: An Official Fan's Guide).
- This book has everything you wanted to know about the NHL teams. Although a little dated it is still up to date but off 6 years. But that is fine. This book tells you what each team's stadium seating capacity and stanley cups they won. It also shows at the back of the book the list of Hockey Hall Of Fame inductees. In this book is the history of the NHL.

1 comments about Wayne Gretzky: Star Center (Sports Reports).
- Waynes World
The book review of Frank Fortuanos "Wayne Gretzky: star center
Frank Fortuanos "Wayne Gretzky star center is a marvelous book full of facts and career statistics of Wayne Gretzky. He tells a great story of his upbringing and even why he tucks his jersey in one side. But, the book does slow down. When he gets into a career it is repetitive to some degree. In each chapter he tells how many points he had in that season, and how hard he worked to win the Stanley cup. But it gives a great story of his life. I highly recommend it to anyone who is doing a report on him
