1 comments about Selena: The Queen of Tejano (Reaching for the Stars).

  1. I think that Selena is the best Tejano singer in the world. I think she is the best Singer now in 1999 even if she's not here.I am still dreaming of her. She makes me cry everytime i see the movie. That's why my mom never let's me watch it anymore i saw her movie like 29 times. Selena is the best singer and she is beautiful. I love the song Dreaming Of You cause that's when her last memories were and she said that's her favorite song to. I also like Where Did The Feeling Go because it is such a beautiful strong song. I like Biddi Biddi Bom Bom and more i also like her faimly they are very good for supporting her. I would love the family to be happy again Selena's faimly. She is the best Mexican American ever.

1 comments about Joan Baez (Hispanics of Achievement).

  1. This book, although informational, is largely biased by the writers. In my opinion it is too flowery to be presented as a reference source.

2 comments about Miguel De Cervantes (Hispanics of Achievement).

  1. This book, Miguel de Cervantes (Hispanics of Achievement), is a wonderful way to acquaint yourself with the man behind one of the most brilliant and timeless novels of all history, Don Quixote. This book takes you through the very eventful life of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. It tells of his early life moving to various areas of Spain, his participation in the Battle of Lepanto, his imprisonment in Algeria, and the surroundings before, during, and after writing his most famous novel, Don Quixote. Cervantes' life is told as tragically as that of his knight-errant. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I suggest it for anyone who wants to know why a poor 58 year old, ex-soldier, ex-tax collector who was imprisoned for 5 years could wind up being an idealistic writer who was responsible for one of the best novels in all history. How could a man who endured such pain, suffering, poverty, and tragedy write with such a sense of humor?

1 comments about Gloria Estefan: Singer and Entertainer (Hispanic Biographies).

  1. I read this book for a class assignment on biographical non-fiction. I have been a fan of Gloria Estefan's for many years, so I thought this would be a great history of her life. This book is great for children to read because it is a history of such of the Cuban government and what the people who lived there had to endure. I liked that the book gave not only information on how things in Cuba affected Gloria and her family, but it also tells of a historical account of Castro and Cuba becoming a communist country. I also enjoyed the explanation of the record industry and how the artist get their music recorded and listened to on the radio.

The life of Gloria Estefan is inspiring to any young girl who may feel inadequate or talentless. Gloria is very family oriented and this book reflects her values and commitment to her heritage.

The end of the book gives chronological accounts in her life, a record of her releases and chapter notes that are very resourceful.
