5 comments about Jackie: The Clothes of Camelot.
- While this book features some interesting facts and pictures, I was very disappointed to find that the author almost completely disregards Jackie's use of accessories. I had hoped to learn about the handbags Jackie used, but despite brief references to her clutches, the only time he talked about them was to wrongly call the Gucci 'Jackie' bag - named after the woman herself - a Hermes tote. He also craftily avoids the subject of her shoes. Disappointing.
- Having grown up in the 60's, and being a Fashion Major as well as a big fan of Jackie Kennedy I was excited to read this book, and pleasantly surprised with Mulvaney's perspective on Mrs. Kennedy's wardrobe. I own many books on Jackie Kennedy and was particularly impressed with the photos and information presented in this book on this fashion icon. I read this book from cover to cover in one day. The photos are stunning, and images of Mrs. Kennedy through her husband's White House years as well as post years are presented in black and white along with color. If you are a Jackie Kennedy admirer, or a Fashion History buff; this is a phenomenal book to add to your collection...well worth the hardback price anywhere!
- I absolutely loved this book. Jackie just looks so beautiful. Her fashion sense is remarkable. And she looks so elegant and beautiful. She was simply the greatest.
- I am not a die-hard Jackie O fan, but I love fashion in general. I have always thought of Jackie O as a fashion icon, and wanted to learn more about her. Until now, I have never seen a book that pictorally does her sense of style justice. However, in this book there are enough photographs both in black and white and in color to satisfy any fashion junkie or Jackie O fan. No matter what the situation, Jackie O was always appropriately and fashionably attired. This book does an excellent job of showing this by portraying her clothing choices through the years and in a variety of categories. This book does not go into great detail about Jackie O as a person or historical figure, I don't think it was written with those objectives in mind, but it should satisfy the fashion cravings of most people. I highly recommend it.
- Who else, in all the other First Ladies, could have worn all those beautiful clothes with the chic and style Jackie had! Not many I guess. In this beautiful book, there are some never seen before pictures, that demonstrates what elegance in fashion is all about. It will take a long time before we can see that again in the White House. I treasure that book that makes me relive that unique period of refinement and class that once was in the White House, thanks to Jackie!

4 comments about Harbor Hill: Portrait of a House.
- Harbor Hill: Portrait of a house deals with one of the most important private homes built in America's "gilded age." Both the family involved, and the architect, provide the meat for a good story. Unfortunately, the result is a dry review of the details. Perhaps there are few surviving photographs of the home's interior, but too few are included to gain a good picture of the interior design and furnishings. In the end, the book is something of a disappointment.
- BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS AND WELL WRITTEN STORY OF AN ESTATE THAT NO LONGER EXISTS....THE AUTHOR MADE IT EXIST AGAIN, IF ONLY IN THE MIND OF THE READER.
- Gave as gift and person who received it absolutely loves it. She could not put the book down and we have ordered another copy to give as gift to somene else! Very well written and immensely interesting.
- Harbor Hill was one of the most spectacular mansions ever built in America. Designed by the iconic Stanford White and built to embody the MacKays desire to accend to the pinacle of NYC society. This book charts the rise of the MacKays and their ultimate demise, along with the similar fate of this great house. The mistress of the house was a real peice of work, but this beautiful showplace was really her creation, she knew what she wanted and Stanford White gave it to her, with Mr. MacKay's money of course. The book is well researched and it's an interesting read and the images are first rate. Honestly, it's tragic that this house no longer survives, you just wonder what kind of philstine could tear something like this down, unfortunitely this being America and not Europe, none of us should be surprised it was so uncerimoniously destroyed. Harbor Hills fate closely resembles the great Philadelphia mansion, Whitehall, and the MacKays are more than a bit similiar to the Stotesbury's, both thought they built their great estates to last for centuries and instead they barely outlived them..when you see the kind of grand mansions built today in places like Bel Air and Palm Beach, you can't help but notice how inferior they are in comparison to the great Gilded Age mansions like Harbor Hill, it's a shame we dont have more respect for beautiful architecture of the past, we inherited so much from the Europeans, but that unfortunitely was not one of them...too bad for Harbor Hill, now just a ghost, haunting old sepia stained images.

1 comments about Apparel Manufacturing: Sewn Product Analysis (4th Edition).
- This was the required textbook for my Apparel Manufacturing class. My teacher ran her own manufacturing company several years ago and told our class that no book she has read even came close to providing the wealth of knowledge available in this book. Seam finishes are explained in terms necessary to complete spec packs, including seam diagrams and stitch numbers used as standards in the industry world-wide. If you plan on putting a technical section in your portfolio or plan to work in the manufacturing side of the industry or plan on being a pattern maker, I recommend this book more than any other. It is rare that I enjoy a textbook so much, but I have read it through and referenced it constantly since the class. Worth every penny.

1 comments about Full-Color Angels CD-ROM and Book (Dover Pictorial Archives).
- I have a friend who is a web designer, and she uses the nickname angel. So I was delighted when I came across this CD Rom and now have the perfect gift for xmas (she knows so not spoiling!) There 100s of full colour angels in a large "paper-doll' size book. The images from Victorian Angels and they are gorgeous full colour depictions. This image are HUGE, approximately 800x1500 pixels is average size, in TIF format, perfect for web designs or for use in more personal graphics just as a web page or "siggies".
All are open CD ROM, too, so no bother with scanning them. They are Permission free use, so there is no limit but you imagination and you talent. Nothing to install, you can just open the file from your CD Rom Dive and access the images directly. Great for Paint Shop Pro use.
Great for web designers, graphics mavens, and the perfect gift for anyone who loves angels

5 comments about Advanced Airbrush Art: How to Secrets From the Masters.
- First of all, this isn't really a book. It's more like a magazine.
Second, the airbrushing exmaples inside (while very well done) aren't what I expected.
If you're interested in airbrushing a flaming skull on a motorcycle then this book (er, magazine) is for you.
But if you're like me, and interested only in airbrushing illustrations, then this isn't for you.
- This book has some good techniques for someone who has some knowledge, but does not have any step-by-step projects for beginners. The step-by-step projects it has are for someone who has some knowledge and experience of painting and airbrushing. It seems nice for this purpose though. I wanted a book for an absolute beginners such as myself. I will keep the book and probably will use it after I learn some about airbrushing. I know some about painting so I can see how this would benefit someone with some skill and knowledge. It shows procedures and tips for painting gas tanks for motorcycles.
- I look forward to using the advance techniques that this book provides.
- Superb book for learning. I only wish this group of ten painters, will do it again, with different subjects...
- Advanced Airbrush Art: How To Secrets From The Masters could also have been featured in our 'Transportation' section, for many of the techniques are demonstrated for auto art purposes - but it's reviewed here for its fine technical survey of airbrush techniques. Nearly 500 color photos provide step-by-step explanation to accompany projects from ten selected airbrush masters. The bikes being decorated serve as project examples for cutting masks, using graphics, mixing and more, making Advanced Airbrush Art a definitive guide for any entering into the airbrush art world.
