1. Bill Edwards writes great books on glass. Each page has at least three beautiful pictures with a paragraph written on each item including the dates of production. The back contains a price guide. Now all I need is an updated price list!

1. Mr. Hubbard's love of wine was the catalyst that inspired him to assemble this fascinating visual and historical account of 17th and 18th century English drinking glasses and bottles. The well-written text, by Lloyd Wright and other authorities, takes the reader on an easy to understand journey on where and how antique drinking glasses (mainly wine glasses) were made, and why they evolved as they did.

   Beautiful color and black and white photographs depict over 600 glasses and bottles, and make this book a unique and valuable reference source for curators, librarians, collectors, dealers, and wine lovers with an intellectual interest in wine. For example, the chapter on wine bottles contains detailed photographs of 81 bottles and bottle seals dating from 1650 to 1830. I know of no other source extant that records so completely the visual history of 17th, 18th and early 19th century wine bottles. The same comment can be made for the other chapters that discuss and show the emergence of English drinking glasses.

1. I have long held a great fascination for the use of Rock crystal in decorative objects, but never found a book that focused so extensively on this often-overlooked material. "Rock Crystal Treasures from Antiquity to Today" is therefore a great find. While there are numerous titles available that explore crystals from the mystical or scientific standpoint, "Rock Crystal Treasures" provides a wonderful overview of beautiful objects made from rock crystal. Jewelry, vases, religious objects, clocks, chandeliers and other decorative items are shown.
   
   Lavishly illustrated with many large clear photos accompanied by insightful text, the book provides a wonderful resource for designers, jewelers or anyone with an interest in rock crystal quartz objects. It is inspirational to see so many items crafted from this translucent stone, worked and sculpted into pieces of such enduring beauty. I found the authors text to provide a great deal of useful details regarding both the historic and modern production of rock crystal. A beautiful book and a great addition to my design reference library.
