1 comments about Contemporary International Glass.
- Contemporary International Glass: 60 Artists In The V&A by Jennifer Hawkins Opie (V&A's curator of contemporary glass and a leading expert in this specialized field) is an impressively beautiful introduction and survey of the V&A's outstanding collection of glass art. Each showcased piece is presented in a full-color photograph, along with a statement (if any) by the artist, information concerning its composition, the training, professional, and teaching experience of the artist, and notable critical commentary. A wide variety of modern images, colors, suggestions and themes from classical design to abstract sculpture fill this remarkable display of uniquely modern art.

3 comments about Very Rare Glassware of the Depression Years: Identification and Values (Fifth Series).
- I was not expecting this book to be what it is and still am surprised. It is a collection of photos with some details about the author's and other's private collections of rare collectibles(vases, bowls, lamps, etc). All are beautiful photographs and amazing peices!A totally wonderful book for anyone who loves collectible glass!!!
- It is not likely you will ever encounter any of the glass shown in this book but the book is worth buying anyway for anyone who enjoys collecting depression glass. The photos in this book will have you drooling for hours. And who knows? You might actually find one of these beauties one day and buy it because you remember seeing it in the book and knowing that the $50 asking price was well worth it since Gene says its worth $2000!
- Excellent and informative detail. I strongly suggest adding this book to your library.

1 comments about Christopher Radko's Ornaments.
- CHRISTOPHER RADKO'S ORNAMENTS tells the history of Radko and his ornament business. Almost single-handedly, according to author Olivia Bell Buehl, Radko brought back the mouth-blown, hand-painted ornaments back to the American Chrstmas tree. Any one who collects Christmas tree ornaments, or who would like to will find this book informative. Each chapter describes one aspect of the design and manufacture of ornaments. Illustrations are used thematically in each chapter. These include Santa Claus, snowmen, and finials. Each ornament is listed in the index by name and serial number, to allow a reader to find it on the primary or secondary market. Ideas for the ligting of the tree, use of ornaments in bowls, on mantles, around pictures or windows fill the book with ideas which a person could decorate any room, even a hospital room for the bed bound at Chrstmas time. The information is concise, though the writing style tends not to be as exacting, depending on the paraphrased quote, rather than the author's own thoughts. Anyone who enjoys Christmas ornaments, who enjoys Christmas, and who wants some new and different decorating ideas should add this book to their library.

5 comments about Standard Encyclopedia of Carnival Glass (Standard Carnival Glass Price Guide).
- I had no problem finding any of the patterns that I was looking for. Having only been collecting carnival glass for about three years, I found the book to be informative and a great referance to fall back on if I was unsure of something. This book was one of the best purchases that I have made when it comes to referance books.
- This book is useless if you do not know a lot about carnival glass. I was very disappointed, it was a waste of money for a beginning collector!
- not user friendly to a beginning collector.
too difficult to use. can't find what i'm looking for..
- I loved this book. It is the best book I have found to use in identifying carnival glass. The pictures are crystal clear, and the number of items included is astonishing. However, the greatest weakness is that the book does not list the year(s) that any of the items were made. That is a huge weakness. You may find out who the manufacturer is and the name of the item, but not knowing the date leaves a huge gap in information.
- This book is what it says and encyclopedia. I t was not designed for any group beginner or expert. It is well organized and packed with descriptive color pictures. This encyclopedia tell how when and Where the glass was made and more important shows patterns to help you recognize what you are looking at. The "Marks" section is worth it in its self.
My two favorite objects in the book (of which I am not sure I would want in my house) are: Purple Pickle Paperweight: "Of All the oddities I've come across in carnival glass, this is probably the oddball of all time." Scottie "Surly there isn't a collector that hasn't seen these in the flea market in Scotties, poodles, dear, duckies, or rabbits. They are all covers powder jars, all marigolds, and made near the end of the carnival glass heyday. Still the coloring is usually respectable, and they are cute little things" Personally I do not think they are so cute; but my wife has the "Dear" that was handed down from her mother. Again this book is worth just being aware of the diversity in Carnival Glass

4 comments about Pocket Guide To Depression Glass & More 1920s-1960s (Pocket Guide to Depression Glass & More).
- I recently started collecting depression glass. At the time, I realized how much I didn't know! This book has been my constant companion. The material is clearly presented. The photography is fantastic. The price guide along with the description of each piece of EVERY collection is invaluable. I have become a better educated consumer and glass collector since I keep this within reach. Highly recommend!!
- This is a wonderful guide to depression glass. Each page is devoted to one pattern and lists the different colors, pieces in the collection and the estimated values. It is a small, pocket book size but has 190 pages! So there is A LOT of information packed in this smaller package!!!A wealth of info and beautiful color photographs. Also, there is a section at the back about reproductions on certain patterns.VERY in depth!A must for collectors!
- The pictures are outstanding. This is an easy to use reference guide with over 150 patterns, all alphabetized for quick and easy referance.
- Excellent...great photos and complete listings of pieces in many patterns. Also light and easy to carry...I take it to auctions with me...very helpful. I would recommend it to anyone interested in depression glass.

1 comments about Anzolo Fuga: Murano Glass Artist, Works for A.V.E.M..
- Rosa Mentasti's book is one of the best books on Murano glass that I have ever owned. The themes are expertly organized and the pictures are full-page, top quality color photos that are nearly as beautiful as the glass. Brief descriptions of how the glass was made are helpful in appreciating the artistry of Fuga's work for AVeM. I recommend this book for all people interested in Fuga's glass. The care and thought that went into making the book make it a valuable resource for a collector of Murano glass.
