2 comments about The Glass Candlestick Book: Identification and Value Guide (Glass Candlestick Book).
- Love the miniature quick-identification pictorial indexes! Would love a separate pocket book of all 3 volumes of these with a price for shopping. THE DEFINITIVE RESOURCE. Can't speak highly enough about the pictures, the completeness, and the detailed information. Even describes similar pieces that could cost you, and how to recognize them. One of best books in my 20 glass-book collection. Just great. As much as they knew they wrote in, a nice change from a rigid structure. THANK YOU, Tom Felt and Elaine & Rich Stoer! GET ALL VOLUMES.
p.s. The only other source of information you'll need is a guide to all the etchings that are available. They tell you what etchings are available on each candlestick, but don't always show a picture of each anywhere in series.
- I have recently begun collecting glass with a particular affinity to candlesticks. This book has been a great help in identifying various pieces. The authors have grouped candlesticks according to the maker, and photographs and pictures abound. Not only do the authors describe the individual candlesticks, they point out similarities and differences between makers to ensure accurate identification. I am purchasing vol. 2 and look forward to the rest of the collection.

5 comments about Glass Toothpick Holders: Identification & Values (Glass Toothpick Holders).
- I recently bought a 74 piece lot of toothpick holders at an estate sale. This book helped me identify several of them. The cross-referencing notes gave me a lot of info that I would not have had. I really enjoy this book.
- This book is a gold mine for collectors of old and reproduced American-made toothpick holders! Not only does it have excellent photos and/or drawings, it also gives a brief history of many glass makers in the late 1880s to the present time. Also lists original manufacturer, original colors, reproduced colors and the reproduction company. I've been able to verify and/or identify almost all of my thirty or so toothpick holder collection. Fabulous book, highly recommended!
- I bought this book because another reviewer said it had all the good pictures of the first edition plus more, and was a must have. (I should have put more stock in her "one star" rating than in her description!) Since I didn't have the first edition, it seemed to be a good bet. It IS a beautiful book! It pictures nearly every holder listed. Some of the pictures could be more clear, but overall, it is a good job. It lists the holders alphabetically by company. Listing by design characteristics would make it easier to find and identify holders. HOWEVER, the holders listed are nearly all late 19th to beginning of the 20th centuries. There is a VERY SMALL section on foreign and modern holders. This needs to be expanded greatly to be useful. I had an entire box full of holders, but could only identify two of them, and one of those was a modern reproduction for which the authors gave no values. So I still have no idea if it is worth anything. A 5-star book if you are looking for a nice coffee table book, but not of much help to the actual collector unless you know you only have 100-year-old holders.
- This book has all the great toothpicks and pictures of the first
book. The pictures have been redone and are brighter and clearer.
Plus there are many new toothpicks and pictures for some that were just drawings in the first book. There is also a new contempory toothpick section and a section on foreign toothpicks.
I think the authors would have a grandslam if they would of expanded the section on newer reprodutions by the newer companies
and included information on how to rate the condition and how the condition affects value. Great must own for toothpick collectors.
- This is a wonderful book ... for collectors of toothpicks specifically, but also for anyone who collects and/or deals in early pattern glass. Beautiful photos, great historical info on the old glass companies, and reliable and well-organized presentation of all the information one generally seeks in a collectibles price/pattern identification guide.
I've often used this book to identify toothpicks, but also found it great for identifying other pattern glass pieces ... The photos really show off the pattern detail, and the (many!!!) accompanying line illustrations are extremely helpful, too. Also, since it's organized by company, if I know who made something but have no idea what it's called, this is the first book I reach for.

5 comments about Fostoria Tableware: 1924-1943.
- Lots of color pictures, catalog illustrations, and other reproduction of old Fostoria documents and ads make this the most detailed and comprehensive book I've found on Fostoria glassware from this period. It really increased my understanding of the importance of glass making in American history, and my appreciation for the talent and hardwork that went into making each piece of glassware an object of lasting beauty. The large number of pictures really helped identify pieces in my collection, and I use this book regularly when buying and selling Fostoria glass.
- This is an exceptionally detailed book, but the dates can be misleading. Some patterns produced during the 1924-1943 time period are not included in this volume. My pattern (Colony)is in the 1944-1986 volume (as well as Raleigh, Coronet and part of others) due to limited space in the first volume. If you are looking for one specific pattern, do some research to be sure you are buying the correct book.
- This book has become an essential tool in my glassware business. It is very comprehensive in its listings of the various Fortoria patterns and the pictures are extremely clear and helpful. The catalog inserts are especially interesting and useful. The research and love that went into the production of this book is evident in its helpful format. Browsing through this book is a joy!
- This is absolutely the most beautiful and thorough book on Fostoria I have ever seen. It shines light on some of the mysteries and nuances in Fostoria production. It is a well organized, yet detailed reference which includes a large array of photographs, Fostoria advertising pieces and catalog pages along with an extensive listing of pieces and patterns, production dates and 1999 pricing. This is a great book for the new or seasoned collector and dealers. If you buy or sell Fostoria, you should buy this book!
- This book is not only an excellent reference for Fostoria's Golden Years, but it is also a beautiful book. Highly recommended for all Fostoria lovers.

1 comments about Contemporary International Glass.
- Contemporary International Glass: 60 Artists In The V&A by Jennifer Hawkins Opie (V&A's curator of contemporary glass and a leading expert in this specialized field) is an impressively beautiful introduction and survey of the V&A's outstanding collection of glass art. Each showcased piece is presented in a full-color photograph, along with a statement (if any) by the artist, information concerning its composition, the training, professional, and teaching experience of the artist, and notable critical commentary. A wide variety of modern images, colors, suggestions and themes from classical design to abstract sculpture fill this remarkable display of uniquely modern art.

3 comments about Very Rare Glassware of the Depression Years: Identification and Values (Fifth Series).
- I was not expecting this book to be what it is and still am surprised. It is a collection of photos with some details about the author's and other's private collections of rare collectibles(vases, bowls, lamps, etc). All are beautiful photographs and amazing peices!A totally wonderful book for anyone who loves collectible glass!!!
- It is not likely you will ever encounter any of the glass shown in this book but the book is worth buying anyway for anyone who enjoys collecting depression glass. The photos in this book will have you drooling for hours. And who knows? You might actually find one of these beauties one day and buy it because you remember seeing it in the book and knowing that the $50 asking price was well worth it since Gene says its worth $2000!
- Excellent and informative detail. I strongly suggest adding this book to your library.

1 comments about Stemware of the 20th Century: The Top 200 Patterns (Stemware of the 20th Century).
- The photographs of the etching patterns in this book are deporable. I know that taking photos of clear glass to display the etching pattern is not the easiest thing to do - I do it on Ebay all the time - but the attempt failed miserably here. I call it a waste of my money.
