1 comments about I'm a Real Photographer: Keith Arnatt Photographs 1974-2002.

  1. Mr. Arnatt has both a great eye for photography and a sense of humor. I found the tight shots of found items, toys and garbage (or rubbish as the British like to say) quite fascinating. By changing their context these rather mundane objects are transformed into art. I suspect that some people may debate whether or not the shots of the garbage are in fact art, but I would argue that Arnatt has turned garbage into found art. As for his sense of humor the notes I think speak for themselves. I particularly like the notes/signs that Arnatt got from a market. I mean "female cucumbers" and "nerve tables for cats and dogs" are just plain hilarious. Even more hilarious are the notes from his wife which kind of remind of notes left for me by my ex- wife (even though I do not think I would have the guts to publish some of my notes). All in all, this is not your typical book of photography and I think that it why I found it so entertaining.

1 comments about Watercolor Mixing Directory.

  1. This Directory is by far the best of the books on mixing watercolor paint. It has more basic colors, more mixes than other books I have looked at or have bought. The mixes are very close to the actual paint - and always close enough to know approximately what you will get when mixing two colors together.

1 comments about Artists in California, 1786-1940.

  1. This book is the most useful reference book about early California art that I own. For collectors and dealers, this book is a must-have. There are no photographs, just biographies, but for collectors the information provided is invaluable. This book took years and years of hard work on the part of Edan Hughes. He deserves praise and accolades for such a monumental achievement!

1 comments about Underbelly: Additional Observations on the Beauty/Ugliness of Mostly Pillowy Girls (Weasel #7).

  1. Dave Cooper's book Underbelly is a collection of drawings and paintings devoted to mostly one thing..women who have large overbites. Despite their ugliness, Cooper's women are oddly compelling and you can understand his affection for his little beastly creations. It's a very big book and well worth the price if you like Pop-Surrealism. If you are the kind of person who wants to date Janeane Garofalo (okay that wasn't fair)...you will love this delightful journey into Cooper's twisted world. I would love to see these women made into collectible figures.

2 comments about The Spectra Suites.

  1. I was particularly moved and impressed with the freshness of the images. They definitiely lend themselves to contemplative viewing over significant periods of time. Enjoyed Suite Two the most, The Horse in the Wild series. So much in each image. Highly recommended!
