1. Calvin Keys book is a tool that can help you become a better Tracker in your quest to locate and recover Spanish Treasure.
   
   His diagram of a "Heart" -- death trap may save your life.
   His description of a "Treasure Yard" is good.
   Where I would have like to see more detail; is a diagram of of the "Treasure Yard"in a sequence of breaking the codes with the compass angle and distance as well as how he knew to leave the "Treasure Yard" to locate the exact treasure site.
   
   My one suggestion for a little more detail aside--the book is easy to read,gets it's point across and may help you recover the treasure you seek. Certainly you will also want all of Charles Kenworthy's books too!
   
   I read the book twice and I will probably read it several more times to ensure I understand every lesson he is teaching.
   
   Certainly I would be willing to TRACK with Calvin Keys and his wife any day.

1. this selection of essays offer a wide understanding of all the arenas in which visual analysis can take place. it has an introduction about what is visual culture and essays from academics such as j. clifford, m. de certeau, g. pollock, etc. it is a review on the history of visuality and the implications of visual culture in the arenas of the representation of race, class, gender, sexual orientation, etc. You wont regret buying this book if you are interested in the study of visual culture.

1. the book is exactly what it says it is, a step by step instruction guide. i think many will find this book helpful,it also gives practice pages to dreaw on and to learn their techniques.

Even though the Famous Artists School was found in many publications when I was a child growing up, it still is hard to beat their tried and true processes from step by step methods to the finished product. If you want simple, comprehensible and easily learned methodology of creating animal form.....this is a must have book. You learn the basic form here and add the individual spirit and media to your subject. I am glad I was able to find the Famous Artist School Step-By-Step Method Books....and for the price it is hard to be without.



3. There are many approaches that artists working in the 'furry' or anthromorphic field can take to their characters. Some place animal-like heads on top of what are essentially human bodies (the egyptian god approach) some twist quadrapeds into a bipedal position (and leave it to suspension of disbelief rather than anatomy to keep them walking!) and of course there are the 'taurs.And finally those weirdos that draw realistic animals......
   The Famous Artist school's book 'How to Draw Animals' has something for every type of furry artist no matter what their style. I discusses the basics of animal anatomy, deals with many of the mistakes beginners make,does a very good job of showing how the various types of animal families differ and how to repepresent these differences well.The books has hundreds of sketches showing how the various artists approached the issues dealt with in the text,as well as diagrams of actaul muscular and skeltal structures of some common types.. Are you primarily interested in animal faces? There is also a section on how various animal heads are put together and again a good demonstration of how to differentiate them (an importan point, amatuer furry artists can have problems keeping their cats from looking like dogs and vice versa.) as well as how to use proportion to differentiate the members of a common family (emily the greyhound versus jack the bulldog) Finally it discusses how to analyze an unfamiliar animal and place it in a familiar animal family.
   Pretty much all the commonly illustrated groups are dealt with, equines canines,felines,birds as well as how to us proportion to say use the same contstruction for a gazelle as for a clydesdale.
   All in all I find this book to be an informative and useful one for the furry artist, I think all but the most advanced will finds something of use in it. This and the other famous artist books are commonly available used and can be acquired at cheaply at amazon.com. It is worth adding to the library of any furry artist.

1. I like this book for its photographic essay anthology on artists and their workplaces - I'm glad I made the right choice of buying it because I needed a full-term book on the subject! Everyone should consider it for their libraries as well as I did!



2. Caveat emptor. A very interesting and well done book that gives an interesting perspective on numerous artists, their studios and the designers of the studios. However, if you have an interest in studios not located in California, you like I will be quite disappointed. Apparently the "sun and sea" reference in the publishers description is supposed to indicate that the studios are all in California and is not just a metaphor. This omission is personally significant enough that for the first time I am returning a book to Amazon as I would not have bought it had it been accurately described.

1. Hardback, 2007, 11.25" x 8.5", 353 Pages, 198 Objects illustrated in full color, 2 maps, numerous color & B/W illustrations. (Note : For some unknown reason, the book I purchased new from Amazon features a figure on the cover which is different than that shown in the Amazon entry, although both figures are included in the book.)
   
   An very worthwhile effort with an eclectic and consistently interesting selection of art from New Guinea, Australia, Island Melanesia, Island Southeast Asia, Micronesia and Polynesia. The only rerason it doesn't get 5 stars is because the artifacts are mostly illustrated in 1/4 or 1/3 pages, and the small size dsoes not do them justice. In spite of this limitation, the book is still highly recommended for anybody who appreciates Oceanic Art.
