- Warman's Little Golden Books: Identification And Price Guide
Steve Santi is THE MAN when it comes to Little Golden Books (LGBs). And this 6th Edition of his definitive guide is THE BOOK for all lovers and collectors of the little treasures. Very well-laid out with chapters on The Historyof LGBs, Regular, Disney, Giant, First, Big, Little, Foreign and other book series. Excellent photos of almost every single LGB, extensive detail of multiple editions, advice for grading and identifying editions, back cover and spine designs.
This book is one I refer to and browse through often, and I recommend it most highly to all lovers of children's picture books.
- "Warman's Little Golden Books" is a definitive 256 page guide and reference which identifies and prices over 2000 chidren's Little Golden books from 1942 to 2006. It is in full color, with simply wonderful cover illustrations of each book to complete its identification. For everyone who has ever enjoyed the Little Golden Books, this is an impressive and nostalgic guide to help you find, identify, price, sell, or acquire your childhood Little Golden Book treasures. "Warman's Little Golden Books" is clearly Steve Santi's labor of love and an impressive contribution to the "retro" children's book market collector. It is an excellent reference and a offer a delightful, bonus, and pleasantly nostalgic walk down memory lane.

5 comments about Hot Wheels Variations: The Ultimate Guide (Hot Wheels (Krause Publications)).
- This was purchased for our 4 year old who is a major Hot Wheels fan. He and dad pour through the colorful photographs and line up all their cars that match those found in the book. I am sure from a collectors point the information of the value along with the detailed picture would be very useful. It is a nice thick, heavy paged book that will be around this house for a long time.
- I find this book extremely helpful in listing a very large percentage of the current (1989 onwards) Hot Wheels variations. The book follows on from the earlier editions and I find it a very useful refererence source.
- Awesome very fast shipping. Arrived in excellent condition. Will buy from again. Thanks so much.
- If you collect variations of Hot Wheels, you have probably heard of the Godfather of Variations, Michael Zarnock. This guy is nuts about variations and has put together one of the top 3 Hot Wheels collector books ever published. I love the book and have loved it since volume 1 because it has fantastic Blue Card identification pictures and very accurate price guide. If you don't know if a variation is real or fake, just check the Grail, it will let you know if you are dealing with fraud or not. In other words, if it is not in this book you are probably not dealing with a variation. Indispensible to a serious Hot Wheel collector. Gratzi, Don Zarnock.
- I just got got this book today and It was more than I expected there were tons and tons of pictures, mr. zarnock give yourself a pat on the back because you did one heke of a job.

2 comments about Eighteenth-Century French Fashions in Full Color.
- A lovely collection of 64 period fashion plates from Galerie des Modes. The plates cover the years from 1778-1787 and give a good representation of French high fashion in the years leading up to the French Revolution. The plates include court gowns, undress gowns, stays, day ensembles, riding habits, children's frocks and more. Complete with translated descriptions of each outfit and a decent glossary of terms.
Drool-worthy does not begin to describe in the goodies contained within. This lovely and inexpensive resource is a must for anyone interested in late century fashions. Get one for research and one to take apart and frame for your sewing room walls.
- Stella Blum has selected plates of 18th century fashion from the Metropolitan Museum's collection and reproduced them here in full colour.
You certinally don't get all the plates produced in the 18th century but what you get is a helpful and representitive selection. This is one of the few books where you can see actual colour plates all reproduced in a sequence like this. If you have any interest in 18th french fashion this book is both [inexpensive] and invaluable.

5 comments about Watches International Volume VIII (Watches International).
- Very goog reference guide, but lack prices. If you need prices, search for other publication.
- This is my second or third book in this series. That should tell you that I like it. It covers what the writers consider to be important wristwatch companies. I am not sure how they decide who gets in and who is not good enough. There is a brief history of the company and its philosophy, pictures of its most notable watches, and descriptions of the variations, or options available to a certain number of buyers. I read the magazines, and think I am fortunate to be able to buy these annuals. I doubt that I will ever learn enough about watches and clocks. If you also want all you can get, with high quality photographs, then buy each year. We all know the internet has information, much more information than a book can hold, but these annuals have photographs you can examine with a magnifying glass. I keep the books handy for impromptu browsing.
- Very nice book on watches, some great pictures and details. I did wonder if it had been proof read as, I found a few errors, or maybe it is in the translation. But still some good facts.
It does contact approx 30 pages of advertisements.
- Great photos of mainly expensive swiss and Europe made watches. Many brands of which were unknown to me before reviewing the magazine.
- Big book, full color photos, explanations of all the major new watches available from all the major manufacturers. Perfect for any watch affectionado.

1 comments about Warmans Depression Glass: Identification And Price Guide (4th Edition).
- This book is the best reference book on depression glass I've ever seen. It gives you a color identification guide, a shape guide, and a pattern guide. Each pattern identified is shown in very clear detail and the color pictures are wonderful. Patterns are presented alphabetically for easy reference. In the back of the book is a list of patterns by manufacturer and an index by pattern. I've never learned so much so fast. I highly recommend this book - especially to new collectors.

4 comments about World Textiles: A Visual Guide to Traditional Techniques.
- I discovered this book in a wonderful little shop in Amman, Jordan that sold antique furniture and textiles. They identified a piece I was admiring as coming from a particular country and then showed me a picture of a similar piece in the book. I was intrigued by the book and wanted to purchase it, but they said it was not for sale as they use it to identify textiles they acquire. I came home and purchased one of my own on Amazon and am now able to identify many textiles or embroideried pieces from their country of origin. It's not only a great reference book, it's also a beautiful book to browse.
- This is the clearest, most comprehensive guide to the techniques used to produce textiles. The examples are photographed beautifully and make you want to get to work. I'm so glad I spent the money on this first-class book.
- I'm using this book as one of two texts for a college course on Ethnic Dress; this is an absolutely fabulous resource!!! As students, we use the book to look for traditional techniques we will research and present in class, including "hands on" practice. I can't recommend this book highly enough!!! Thank you, Mr. Gillow, for putting such a beautiful, historical source together!
- World Textiles is an encyclopedia of textile techniques. The text is very accessible (virtually no footnotes or unexplained jargon) and punctuated with beautiful color photographs, artfully arranged on nearly every page of the book. Typically, a picture of a textile is overlaid with someone wearing the garment, which puts the textile, and its description, in context. World Textiles is organized like a book of lists, so techniques are easy to find, but a bit tedious to read from cover to cover. It also has some nontraditional categories (multi-colored knitting is in a category separate from plain knitting and textured knitting) and several categories that seem arbitrary or nonparallel (for example, the only dye that gets its own category is indigo, and indigo is listed with a range of dye techniques as if it were itself a dyeing process). However, each category includes a description of the technique, it uses, and often, some factual tidbits and sketch drawings to show how the textile was made. The book seems to be aimed at the amateur collector or professional textile-maker who wants to know how a particular technique compares and contrasts with other ways to create or embellish cloth. I would recommend it as a good introduction to the world's textiles.

4 comments about Spirit of the Wild.
- This is a great book. Everyone should own it, and then give one as a gift. Beautiful photos!
- Yes this book has the most amazing photography, but it is about much, much more than just great photography. I truly believe that EVERYONE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD should read this book. Everyone who reads this book will get something different out of it. It encourages us to stop and think. It helps us to see the true reasons for existence. It removes all the superficial trappings that we get caught up in on a daily basis and shows us and nature as we really are... or perhaps as we have become and as we should have been. It makes us stop, think and reassess our values and our purpose. It simplifies life by focusing on the small things which are, in truth, the great things. It helps make us see that we really are just running around chasing our tails and slowly spiraling out of control. It shows us that we are missing the point if existence... of just 'being' sometimes and of 'contributing and enhancing' rather than 'taking'.
- I discovered this fantastic photographer on an outdoor exhibition in Stockholm. The large scale pictures of beautiful animals in wonderful poses affected me so much that I immediately went home and ordered this book. Though the pictures in the book are much smaller then those outdoors, they are still amazing and express the talent of Steve Bloom. I must say though, that some of my favourite pictures from the exhibition are unfortunately not included in this book and that lowers the grade.
- Steve Bloom is by far one of the best animal photographers! The pictures he captures are incredible. Spirit of the Wild is a great (though small) collection of awesome pictures. The pictures and pages in the book are all high quality. Well worth the money.

5 comments about A Century of Indiana Glass (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- LOTS OF GLASS THAT YOU SEE EVERY DAY, BUT NOT SURE OF WHO MADE IT!
THIS IS A GOOD BOOK FOR DEALERS, FOR IDENTIFICATION. NOT SURE THE PRICES ARE ACTUALLY WHAT THE ITEM WILL BRING IN TODAYS MARKET, BUT GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHERE TO START...
- Craig Schenning has done a great job of identifying Indiana Glass patterns, including information on dates of production, colors, and lists of known pieces with current prices. Also included are several patterns originally produced by other companies but whose molds are known to have been acquired (and produced) by Indiana in later years. Lots of good color photos, although you may have to look elsewhere to identify etchings and decorations. The best book I've seen on Indiana glassware.
- A very good and thoroughly interesting collectors book to have.
- Indiana Glass is one of my favorite companies. I love the different types of glass that they created and am thrilled that there is finally a new resource out there about the company. Hopefully, this will educate old and new collectors about the wonderful glass they created. I can't wait to see more from this author.
- Informed about this book by an article in the Antique Weekly. So happy to have found it on Amazon at a more than fair price. The book is excellently done. Loads of information. Extremely informative. I'm a new collector of Indiana Glassware.

3 comments about Vintage Guns: Collecting, Restoring, & Shooting Classic Firearms.
- A book full of interesting information and beautiful color photos, mainly for English shotguns. Very readable, with the contents arranged in a rather original way. The book needs an alphabetical index at the end.
- As a dealer who specializes in upper end shotguns, I think I know more than the average sportsman about shotguns... BUT... I was amazed at the ammount of great info in this book. VERY READABLE. If you have any interest in quality side by side shotguns - get it!!!
- this is an excellent book worthy of any gun book collection; however, it is exactly the same book as Vintage Guns for the Modern Shot. Buy one but not both.
