5 comments about Training Your Rottweiler (Training Your Dog Series).
- I am thoroughly impressed and completely satisfied with this book. I bought it based on customer reviews and they were right. It is very good at specifically describing many of the nuances of Rottweilers. Don't let anyone tell you... "all breeds are the same it's just the way you train them." Most rotts have similar tendencies. This book was very helpful in preparing me for each stage.
- Have had rotties for the last 25 years and this time I wanted to use a different approach in preparing for our new rottweiler female pup. This book has certainly identified areas one should be aware off with regards to puppy-proofing the home as well as getting the pups attention from an early stage onwards. Many Rottweiler specific traits are discussed and I have found to be extremely helpful. This book is easy reading and a terrific resource for any serious Rottweiler owner.
- This book has very brief and to the point chapters. I have owned dogs for over 20 years but this book gave good insight to why particular behaviors occur and how to modify the behavior. This book offers practical training and obediance methods that even beginner dog owners can follow and understand.
- Do you want to have a puddle or a Rottweiler?
I've bought a few basic books about Rottweiler to teach my dog the basics. I am very happy to say that I have a wonderful puddle, not a Rottweiler! He is a wonderful companion dog (for old ladies), not aggressive, very sociable,...etc. Do not "abuse" your dog, don't kick him, don't make him be scared of you...etc. Really? I wouldn't recommend the "operant conditioning" as described in these books, unless you want a really stupid dog with no balls at all.
- is agreat book have a lot of ideas on how to train your rottweiler but i think it should have more information on this breed

5 comments about Training Your Pet Rat (Training Your Pet Series).
- Ended up not getting any rats. I felt like this book was easy to read and understand.
- I really enjoy this book & find it a very useful reference. Highly worth the price. Easy to read tone, with a lot of humor, while still telling you everything you need to know about pet rats. It covers all the basics of pet rat care as well as tips on training.
- I found this book to be helpful for how to train your rats. It has different tricks and games, and is full of interesting advice. The author's voice is humourous while informative. While it is not a rat care book - I would get Debbie Ducommun's rat book for that - it also has information on looking after and caring for your rat though not as detailed. It's a must-have for those who are interested in training your rats and playing games with them.
- I love it... haven't finished it yet but expect to soon. The half+ that I've already covered includes all the fine points of how to prepare for your new pet(s) and how to select them - GOOD advice! Now I'm at the fun part and am looking forward to implement the easy and straightforward ideas on training. In addition - it's a light read, sprinkled w/ humor... makes it even more enjoyable.
- First page out, reminded us to get an aquarium not a wire cage to keep the babies from escaping!

5 comments about The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care.
- This book is a wonderful reference book for all pet medical needs. It helps when your vet is not readily available (weekends). It describes many illnesses and conditions, what you can do to help keep your pet healthy.
- This was one of the few decent references I used in preparing my books, 8 Weeks to a Healthy Dog, The Allergy Solution for Dogs, and the award-winning The Natural Health Bible for Dogs & Cats. The book is well written and easy to understand, yet informative for owners who would like to explore natural care for their pets.
- We are very new to the holistic care for pets ... and we were looking to find a good book that would introduce us to this more natural method of looking after our dogs ...
Ms. Puotinen's book is everything that we could have asked for ... her first few chapters takes the beginner gently through the methods, means, whys and wherefore of holistic care. Her writing is clear, concise and sure ... The rest of the book is (to our mind) quite detailed, with lots of specifics ... and we suspect will cater even for the more experienced. The book takes the reader from feeding raw food & supplements, to aromatherapy & homeopathy, and even guides the reader through the more esoteric art of flower therapy and massage for pets. There is a wonderful chapter on common ailments and possible natural remedies. The author draws from numerous sources of information & reference (all carefully indexed and referenced) and she reproduces conversations & interviews with other practitioners of the art (including vets). To beginners such as us, this is quite essential ... and we found great comfort, to learn that holistic care is not only an ancient art but is still actively practised today (and gaining much ground), by even those with medical and professional qualifications. Interesting reading ... offering much to those willing to learn. Well worth the time and cost ...
- Because many natural remedies are ancestors to our modern pharmacopia, care must be taken with all drugs you give your pet. Please use these books carefully and under the supervision of your veterinarian. There is a reason why we are required to attend four years of post-undergraduate medical school in order to prescribe drugs and make medical decisions. All animals are complex organisms who vary widely among species and individuals. Drugs and herbal remedies that may be safe and effective in humans can kill cats and dogs. These species variations are not well understood, especially with regards to herbal medications. For example, onions can be deadly to cats, as can Tylenol (a drug that we feel is safe even for human children). Please don't leave your common sense at the (e)bookstore door. Saving money on veterinary care by using a book may cost you the life of your pet.
- This is an excellent book. It provided me with the information that I needed to save the lives of some puppies that were malnourished and dehydrated at 3 weeks of age due to the loss of thier mom. I would have lost the litter with out this book. I have since bought a goat....

3 comments about Natural Terrariums (Complete Herp Care).
- This book is good for basic information regarding the construction of terrariums and vivariums, but really wasn't what I was looking for. There were only a couple bits of useful information that I hadn't already found through searching the Internet. I have yet to find a good, detailed book dealing with the complexities of constructing a vivarium. All that I have read including this book cover only the simplest of concepts.
- This is a pretty good book for the price. It is a little too heavily oriented towards the reptiles only. I would have liked to see more vivarium information. Some information, like not to use magnolia leaves, is just plain wrong. Also, there is nothing on background construction.
- I'll be brief: I recently bought and read this book because I am building a new, elaborate terrarium. As a reference, this book is the best I've ever encountered. As a read-able book, it's also top notch. You would not think that moss could be interesting, but this book makes it so. Don't waste your money on books by Bartlett or Walls (anyone who reads herp books will know those guys know their stuff, but not like this!). If you're going to buy a terrarium book (discusses deserts, jungles, watery environs, etc. from beginner level to VERY advanced tricks and tactics), make this the one!!! You will NOT be disappointed.

5 comments about German Shorthaired Pointer (Complete Pet Owner's Manual).
- As a breeder of German Shorthaired Pointers at [....], I give this book with each puppy sold. Allot of other books, even some with GSP in their title are warmed over generic puppy books. This book is specific to my breed and full of valuable information for the beginner and the experienced GSP owner.
- This book is an excellent, concise introduction to anyone even remotely considering getting one of these dogs. It covers everything from how to pick a puppy, deciding if these are the right type of dog for you and how to find this out, diseases and ailments that these dogs are prone to, basic puppy and dog training methods, housetraining, and basic hunting methods. Along with a complete description of the accepted breed standard and competitions available for your dog. Though this should not be the only book a new GSP owner should get, it is recommended as the first one to get when deciding.
- This book touches all the bases. Excellent for the new dog owner. Make no mistake, it is NOT the end of ones personal gsp library, unless using the dog as "just" a pet. I would recommend others as well. This book does just what it is intended to, introduce the GSP owner with brief history and insight into his/her new K9 friend. For the price you can't beat it.
- This is a generic "how to feed your puppy" book with a couple of pictures of GSP's and one extra chapter devoted to the breed. If you don't already know the information contained in the book, you have never owned a dog in your life. Spend the extra cash on "New Complete GSP's" or "GSP's Today"
- I bought this book a few weeks ago and ever since I started reading it my pointer has made extreme progress I would recomend this book to any one looking to train there pointer.

- I had finches scince i was six years old and i always loved them. I have taken care of them in my own way but i decided i wanted to know more details about them, so i checked out this book and it taught me alot of stuff about them. It teaches you how to take care of them and how to help them have a happy nest, also to keep them healthy and happy.
- I'm in the middle of reading this book and so far, it's wonderful. It's an easy read with so many interesting facts about finches. My Star Finches will live happy now!!!!!!!!!

2 comments about Teaching Your Cat Simple Tricks (Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin, a-272).
- This booklet seems to have some really good, well-thought out steps to teaching your cat to perform useful behaviors on command. It has been very helpful as a supplement to clicker-training books for that very reason. When I couldn't come up with steps towards a desired behavior, this book supplied them.
- This book came in perfect condition very quickly. I've already started to teach my cats how to "sit". Thanks!

5 comments about Welsh Corgis: Pembroke and Cardigan (Complete Pet Owner's Manual).
- This book is full of detailed information and all you want to know about the Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Cardigans Corgis.
I have a few other books on the breed but I found this one to be all I wanted to know about them. Enjoy!
- The book was filled with good information regarding the breed and temperment of the Corgi's. Although lacking some more specific details on training, it served to provide background material to help with training of the corgi puppy. I would recommend the book to any corgi owner wishing to know more about corgis in general, but there are better books for training.
- I bought this book while I was still puppy-hunting, and it was great. It has lots of tips and breed-specific info about both Cardigan and Pembroke Welsh Corgis, and was invaluable in helping me locate a good breeder and find the best puppy for us. It also has great tips for when you first bring your puppy home, and is full of gorgeous color pictures. A+.
- If you already are familiar with the corgi breed, you'll love this book because it's filled with marvelously appealing photos of corgi puppies! There's an unusual number of great photos, unusual even for a book about the breed.
The book also is right on the money with advice on how to raise your corgi to avoid behavior problems. These are working dogs, and if they are trained properly (and it's easy) they are a delight, but without that training they can dominate the household and be a real nuisanced. It's clear that the author knows a lot about the breed. Most dog books are about dogs in general, with little about the particular breed. You get the impression that there's a general dog book on the word processor that's customized slightly for each breed. This is a book about corgis, written to be just about corgis, and full of great information that's useful for every corgi owner.
- The problem with many dog-related books is that they contain a few dozen pages related to the breed & the rest is filled with generic information that pertains to all breeds. This book in particular deals with corgis the whole way through. A great deal of helpful information concerning corgis appears within.
