1. I've had dogs for over 20 years, but still use this book as a "refresher." It covers everything you need to know about bringing home a puppy -- choosing, preparing, feeding, health, grooming, even first aid. Also has some great basic training. All in an easy-to-read, visually-pleasing format. (Look into Andrea Arden's books for more training guidance!)

1. I am enjoying this book. We raise registered goats and each goat has to be named to be registered.This book will make it much easier to name 15 baby goats at one time.Thank You.



2. I don't think this book contained enough names. The names listed were taken from film and TV personalities, historical figures, cartoon characters, etc. This book lacked original names.



3. I'm a "dog" person & I put a lot of time & energy into naming my dogs! People who hear me talk about them assume they're actual children because I give them "human" names! None of this "Rover" or "Spot" stuff for me...I give my pets first & middle names! This book was extremely diverse & comprehensive in their name sources..to the common everyone-knows-a-Max-or-Sheba names to the really unique ones! Anyone looking at getting a dog should read this..it truly has a name for every dog personality one could possibly think of! A terrific read & one I'd recommend to anyone!!!

3 comments about Live Foods for Aquarium Fishes (Practical Fishkeeping).

1. I felt that this book was ,altogether, too basic. It discussed only the most coomon food sources for a hobbyist. I was left wanting for more. It is a very small, very limited resource. It does discuss how to culture a few types of live foods, but I have found the same information in several other aquarium books, in their fish food sections. Your better off buying an aquarium encyclopedia, with a section on live foods.



2. This small book was full of information for tropical fish keepers that desire to know more about feeding live foods.



3. This is the better of my two Practical Fishkeeping books. This book is also 64 pages, but doesn't need anymore. It discusses ways of gathering and/or culturing all the various live foods, including white worms, grindal worms, microworms, brine shrimp, infusoria, daphnia, bloodworms, gnat larvae, gammarus, and earthworms. It has very specific recipes for culturing some of these live foods, and it also helps you to plan a "menu" for your particular fish based on its needs by explaining the nutritional pros and cons of each of the live foods. For example, it states that you shouldn't feed adult fish microworms too heavily because they are very fatty, instead, you want to feed them to your young fry or your pregnant mother fish which require the additional fat.

1. This book starts off great for a person first looking into buying a Bulldog, but at page 39 (of 160) the term Bulldog pretty muc disappears and it becomes a general book on how to raise a dog - any dog in any atmosphere.
   In fact I don't think a specific tip on raising/caring for Bulldogs appears at all unless a short line under a photo after page 39.
   Disappointing.



2. This is a good book full of general information. However, if you want a book specifically about Bulldogs....this isn't the one.



3. This is a book with a lot of good pictures. I was disappointed to later see that this book is constantly advertising dog related products. There is too much information about products like 'nylabone' chewtoys and 'Four Paws' flea repellents rather than the wonderful temperament and personality of the bulldog. This book gives a lot of information about general dog care and behaviour. But the book doesn't emphasize BULLDOG CARE and BULLDOG BEHAVIOUR.

1. I bought this book for a gift for my mother in law and she absolutely loves it. When at a party at her house I noticed that lots of people picked up the book and flipped through it with many of them actually reading some it.



2. Again we are treated to Cindy Hale's colorful prose, which puts you right there with the horses and tugs at your heartstrings. So often we - the horse-crazy - need to explain to others just why we are consumed with love for our gentle giant equine friends, and are at a loss for words. This book explains it like no other.

   A Passion For Horses had me laughing, smiling and crying as I read through it all, especially reading about the brave Kathy Havens, who - a fighter to the end - didn't let something like stomach cancer get in the way of her time with her dear chestnut friend Bud. And the retirement ceremony of Pam Mahony's legenday Valor, who is still remembered fondly as one of those Once In A Lifetime Horses, and who will never be forgotten by those who saw him in the show ring.

   Cindy and Sharon, thank you again for touching our hearts. I look forward to your next book with eager anticipation!




3. I truly enjoyed reading about these everyday horselovers who have made horses the focal point of their lives. Some of the chapters made me cry because they were so very touching. Other times I laughed. Photos were great, too. Highly recommended for anyone who loves horses or animals.



4. this is my second Cindy Hale purchase and I was as pleased if not more so than the first. This book chronicles the passion and love that defies logic at times. Truly a wonderful book which I will recommend to others without hesitation.
