1. Extremely specific to the Bernese Mountain Dog, I will recommend this book to ALL Berner owners, breeders, and pet lovers. Explains everything and anything you would like to know about the Berner Breed from puppy to adults and also health, dental, travel as well as what to expect from the Berner.
   Well detailed, and excellent photo's.

2. I bought this book in the hope that it could help a pet Bernese puppy buyer with good information.
   
   When reading this book, I felt as if the writer just 'filled in the blanks' of some generic puppy buyer information. This book did not deliver anything I'd hoped for. I consider this book to be a waste of my money and time investment.
   
   I feel there is a much better pet puppy buyer book on the market by Julia Crawford (a longtime Bernese breeder and prior BMDCA President) and the cost is about the same. This better book is called "Bernese Mountain Dog: An Owners Guide to a Happy, Healthy Pet".
   
   I was very disappointed in this book by Amy Christensen. And I hope she'll try again and do a better job next time.

1. I sat in the bookstore for hours, poring over books on dog training, puppy training and gun dog training. I just happened to see this little book tucked among the larger ones. I thought it had an interesting title and paged through it. Great! I figured, since it cost less than $10, I would buy it and see what it said.

   WOW! I have read tens of books on dog training, and this book contained the most useful information. Every other book tells about obedience training, blah, blah, blah. This book tells how to LIVE WITH YOUR DOG. Do not pass this up.

1. Even though it was written over a decade ago, Nicholas' book on the Labrador Retriever remains one of the better books available on this breed. It is becoming a little outdated on some of the information on the show and field scenes, but it remains highly informative for those thinking about buying a Labrador Retriever. It is also profusely illustrated with a wealth of photos. If you will buy only one book on the Labrador Retriever, this should be it. It describes the breed's development in Canada and Britain in the last century, outlines its ability to work out in the field retrieving birds, and brings the reader up to date on the show scene up to the early 80's. In addition, it includes chapters on the care and training of the Labrador Retriever.

1. If you have erotic thoughts about your best friend who has a fraction of your IQ, this eroticism for dog lovers is for you.



2. I'm enjoying reading this book, but want to note that on p. 201 ("The Ugliness of Beauty"), the author mentions that his dog, Max, "loved chocolate above all other foods." For many dogs, CHOCOLATE IS TOXIC!!! DO NOT GIVE YOUR DOG CHOCOLATE!!!! If in doubt, ask your veterinarian.



3. This is a very useful and informative book about dogs and why AKC breeds have so many health problems: diabetes, bad hips, seizures, etc.



4. Although this book has as its basis a good premise, the author takes generous liberties with the truth in order to make his point. Instead of helping his cause, however, these inaccuracies detract from the overall credibility of the work.



5. There is a lot of misinformastion about the bull-and-terrier breeds in this book. The author apparently had one bad experience with a bull terrier. As a result, he made sweeping statements that are both erroneous and hurtful about several other dog breeds. Anyone who advertises himself as a 'dog expert' should spend more time on checking the facts.

1. This book was very helpful. It demonstrated many different ways or wrapping, trailering, braiding, ect. It covers showing for english, western, and halter. You learn some good tricks, and tech. The only thing I missed, was that it didn't cover very much in the way of actually showing in halter. Then again, it was only intended to cover how to prepare for stuff, and it really goes beyond that.
   I recommend it to anyone who wants to know diff. ways to braid, leg wrap, and other things.

4. Fitting and Showing the Halter Horse is a good book the for the begginer to advanced showmanship/Halter exibitor. It shows you the finer points of what the judge is looking for in you and your horse. I recomend this book if you have just started showing a horse. It realy helps you out in what equiptment to by, grooming tips, what to do when you get into the ring and much, much more!!!!
