2. After reading the first story in this book, I thought this would be a very, very good collection. Alas, there were only a couple more that were as good as the first. Not a bad book overall, though.

1. I thought this was an extremely interesting, informative, historically well-researched, and entertaining account of one group of people whose lives are enriched by their bond with animals, and who value the animals with whom we share this planet enough to help them when they can.

1. This is a good book for learning about Tanganyikans...

   It has alot of useful information for such a small book. For someone unfamiliar with the habits of Shell-Dwellers this is very informative. It gives you recommended tank sizes for most of the popular Tangs (Neolamps, Frontosa, Calvus, Lamps) as well as a limited compatability between certain species.

   There is a section about which plants can survive in an African tank... this is hard info to find.

   The only think that I found lacking was a complete section of photos, descriptions, specs and stats of each species. This would've added alot to the book and made it into a true reference guide.

   In any case it is a very fun book to look at from time to time. There's always stuff in there to learn about.

1. This is the best horse book EVER!!! I'm 15 yrs. old & I couldn't put it down. It gives you a picture of the breed & a 1-2 page description on the horse/pony. I reccommend it to everyone who loves horses as much as I do!!

1. If I'd had this book when I built my first 2 cat trees they would've been MUCH improved!! For me, the beauty of this book isn't so much the projects themselves but the techniques, such as cutting a block to fit inside a length of PVC pipe so that legs can be securely mounted to the base, or building a miter box to cut said pipes squarely. I have to say, though, I can't wait to try the window sill cat bed!!
   
   If you have elderly or disabled critters you should note that one of the projects is a carpeted vehicle ramp, and instructions allow you to customize it to the height of your vehicle.



2. This is the most poorly written project book I have ever seen. We had to make repeated trips to the hardware store for more parts because of the poor instructions and missing information. There is no accurate shopping list. Other building instructions and photos are unclear. We would have done better looking at a finshed photo and guessing on how to build the project. Pass this book by.

1. I've bought several copies of this book and given it to cat loving friends as going away gifts, B-day gifts and just "cheer-up" gifts. It's a perfect little gift that every cat lover can totally relate to!



2. If your cat has annoying or endearing behaviors then you may see some of them in this great book. The simple folk art illustrations of a cat giving you a "butt salute" or of drinking from a toilet (Perrier anyone?) or of covering your head while you are trying to sleep will make you laugh out loud. A great gift for anyone with a cat. I particularly liked the page with the cat knocking off christmas tree ornaments, which happened in our house one year. I have never had one gnaw on my toes, but I always kept them covered around my cat.

1. If you would like lots of great pictures of many canaries of color and type varieties, you may enjoy this book despite its sometime misidentification of the birds in the captions. I have noted that the quality of the text published by TFH in recent years varies widely. Some of it now seems to suffer due to poor editing and author error. This is especially true of THE PROPER CARE OF... series. For more sophisticated and more accurate text try some of their older selections like: CANARIES AND RELATED BIRDS-- Horst Bielfeld or ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CANARIES-- G.T. Dodwell. The information in these older books may lack the latest trends in aviculture, but these trends aren't covered in the present book either!
