1 comments about Homeopathy for Horses (Threshold Picture Guide).
- This book will leave all other Homeopathy books written about the Equine in the dust,
The care and detail in the writing translates into the most thorough Homeopathy book for
horses that you will find anywhere. Excellent detail throughout, well explained, and a top-notch
index which makes it easy to find a symptom in an emergency. Contains emergency section,
as well as pre and post-op remedies. So well done that a beginner can understand it but so detailed
that a Professional will find the rare and obscure disease or illness included. Kudos to Dr. Couzens
for the finest animal publication of its kind. If you are experienced in homeopathy this may also help you
with your Dog or Cat in such things as pre/post op, eye problems, skin problems, etc.
A Best Buy for the Money!

1 comments about Discovering Natural Horsemanship: A Beginner's Odyssey.
- Natural Horsemanship has apparently been around for quite a few years now. Being new to the world of horses I just learned about this type of training a few short months ago. Mr. Moates gives a wonderfully insightful, and often amusing, introduction to the natural training method. Since I am new to horses this book was perfect for me. Anyone with a love of horses will enjoy this book. And it may inspire you, no matter what your age, to get involved with horses. This book never gets bogged down or tedious. It is fun!

5 comments about Adopt the Perfect Dog.
- I read this book cover to cover in no time, because I couldn't put it down! What a great read, so many useful suggestions on what to do in every potentially "annoying" situation. This book really trains the owner who in turn will now have to knowledge to train their dog the right way because they will learn how the dog thinks. Great, great, great book. I absolutely suggest this to anyone thinking about adopting... even if you've had a dog before!
- Great book and great advice! Very detailed dog selection process helped our family get the perfect dog!
- This book is unique in that it talks specifically about adopting a shelter dog. Shelter dogs have a whole different set of challenges and expereinces than puppies - and this book has simple, straight forward advice on a successful and rewarding adoption.
- Well-written and consise, this book provides help for most common issues and potential pitfalls of adopting an adult dog. The story of the author's work w/ a "vicious" dog (last chapt.) is especially illustrative of how much adult dogs have to offer, even and perhaps esp. ones that did not grow up in good circumstances.
Further, the book's focus on positive reinforcement and emphasis on training and exercise (read "play") for a dog will prevent many problems if followed. While writing this review, my newly adopted adult Belgian Shepherd brought me a pair of dirty socks from the laundry basket - time to consult the book! :-]
- A truely worthwhile book -- leads those interested in adopting and saving the life of a shelter dog, rather than taking the puppy mill or breeder routes, through a step-by-step analysis of how to ascertain the right dog for your family and how to judge a dog by more than its cover! Buy it and you will feel empowered in the proper way to go about making a friend for life.

4 comments about Cleve Wells Going For Broke: 15 Lessons To Teach Your Young Horse To Be A Willing, Respectful Partner In Hand & Under Saddle.
- Cleve Wells has an excellent step-by-step book here. I have about 35 rides on my girl and very much recomend it. Wells methods are very pretty easy to follow too. I think Wells has helped me be more patient and less demanding of instent success. Just buy the book, do what he says and be patient. It's worth your time and money.
- This book is an excellent manual for those folks who need a good guidebook on the topic.
It is a general colt-starting book rather than a book about training Western Pleasure specialists.
- Even though I am a Hunter O/F rider, I was able to take some pointers from this book and apply it to my flat work and basic listening skills of my horse.
- I think it's a wonderful book, and for starting a young horse it's a wonderful guide. Simple, easy step-by-step guides on how to ground drive and then transferring it to saddle, then all the in-saddle work you'll need to have a good, firm riding foundation on your horse. I thought it would have more on groundwork, like some on-the-ground leadership establishing exercises, but I think I just misread it. There IS some wonderful stuff about teaching a young horse to tie, as well as using it and tying them longer and longer to teach patience.
Overall it's a wonderful book for the horse who has the VERY basics down (leading, picking up feet, etc.) and will lead you through the rest, sacking out, tying up, saddling, ground driving, NECK REINING (VERY good section here!), and more foundation building riding lessons.

5 comments about Unleashed: Climbing Canines, Hiking Hounds, Fishing Fidos, and Other Daring Dogs.
-
Illustrated throughout with gorgeous color photography, Unleashed: Climbing Canines, Hiking Hounds, Fishing Fidos, and Other Daring Dogs is a book for dog lovers ages seven to seventy (in human years, that is!). From a floppy-eared German shepherd who accompanies his owner snowshoe hiking or on cross-country ski tours, to a golden retriever who loves windsurfing, to a boulder-climbing pug, the cross-range of passionate active canines is sure to surprise and delight. Every two pages features a brief description of the individual man's (or woman's) best friend and stunning photographic imagery. A real treat for pet lovers and a source of ideas for anyone considering new ways to enjoy physical activity with their pet dogs.
- I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. Fun pictures accompanied by short essays about each dog that are very well written, truly entertaining, fun, and inspiring. I am not a dog owner but love the outdoors and animals. I gave it as a Christmas gift to friends who recently adopted a dog. They loved it. This book is a surprising gem!
- Lisa Wogen and photographer, Bev Sparks, caputered the essence of why dogs are truely man (and women's) best friend. Of course I am biased being the proud owner of the "cover dog", Wrigley. Thanks for putting out this great book.
- Lisa's ability to tell the unique stories about the dogs featured in this book are what makes it a must buy! Her love for man's best friend and the excitement over the human-canine bond are obvious in the way the stories are written. You really feel like you know the dogs after you read about them...and you want to get your dog outside to try some of the activities described in the book!!
- Lisa Wogan and her subjects vividly put the "DO" in DOGS. I appreciate her willingness to be part of the movement to help inspire people to become more engaged in their dogs.

3 comments about A New Owner's Guide to Great Pyrenees.
- I recently adopted a Great Pyrenees puppy and have never owned one before. This book was very helpful in understanding the breed better. The book has great pictures and information that I found very relative to the questions I had about this breed. There were a lot of tidbits I had no clue about that were brought to light such as these dogs will dig a "bed" to lay in to guard their territory. Totally explains why we keep finding holes in our front yard. Would recommend to anyone thinking about adopting their first Great Pyrenees.
- This book could possibly be helpful to people wanting a show dog, but if you intend to use your Great Pyrenees for what it was bred for, guarding livestock, it is no help at all. I bought the book hoping for some advice in correcting my two Pyrs' bad habits like digging and chewing. The book basically said that my dogs chew because I hurt their feelings by leaving them outside and not letting them in the house. Puhleese.
- I bought this book searching for information on the Great Pyrenees Dog. I was in the process of buying a puppy and wanted to know everything I could about the breed. This book answers all your questions and some you wouldn't think of asking! Kim Lansley has put together one of the best Pyrenees books on the market. Very well put together and informative. The pictures are beautiful and the layout wonderful! I would highly suggest this book to anyone interested in buying a Great Pyrenees Dog.

3 comments about What Horses Teach Us: Life's Lessons Learned from Our Equine Friends.
- This book reflects how creative and unfathomable our Creator God in Heaven really is! The fact that all living creatures have the same Creator God shows how intrinsically and uniquely designed each species is to clearly represent itself.
As humans (we're not animals - Thank God!:), this book represents the fact that we are able to read, think, reason, feel, make intellectual decisions, love and be loved. Animals, on the other hand, can only represent themselves in the station of life they have been created for - they are the handiwork of our imaginative God who allows animals to be blessings which we may thoroughly enjoy and appreciate.
Saturate yourself with the sweet sentiments of this endearing book...take a quiet moment to reflect on what the pages represent. A picture is worth a thousand words. Allow God to reveal Himself through His Creation just as He promises He will in Romans chapter 1 (take a look at the Holy Bible) and be renewed by the goodness He has toward us! Enjoy...
- The previous reviewer who said the book had no content...was just pictures is definately off base with their evaluation. The disappointed reviewer was probably expecting one of those horse psychology books. Yes, there are mostly just pictures, but they are wonderful, humerous affirmations of animal behaviour from which we as human animals can be reminded of our own wisdom and folly and our connection to the animal kingdom and the oneness of all living things. The pictures make you wonder how long the photographer sat around waiting for the animal to do that. And the lessons and commentary for the pictures fit perfectly. I love all the books in this series..What Cats, Dogs, Horses, etc. Can Teach Us, and highly recommend them. They make wonderful gifts for animal lovers and are great to have handy to pick up for a good chuckle or a warm fuzzy emotional pick me up.
- There is no content. It's just pictures with captions. I want to return it, but when I try on line, it tells me the book is not returnable. I just received it yesterday.
