1. DogRead book of the month August, 2001 This book was chose to be on the prestigious 'DogRead' (...) as a book selection of the month. We only do 12 books a year. The author comes on line for the whole month to answer questions on the book. This was one of our best recieved book! It recieved rave reviews. We found it easy to follow and great for the newbe or the long time owner. It was very well received by our 3000 member email group. The author was very knowledgeable and easy to understand.

2. I read this book from cover to cover. I loved the way it was written. I enjoyed Kerrin and Dale's personal stories as well as all the great tips they provide. I've been taking pictures of my pets for many years with my Pentax K1000. While I was reading this book I noticed that my pictures had dramatically improved because I was putting in more time planning the pictures before I took them. I'm sure that now that I've completed reading the book (some parts several times!) I'll be capable of producing consistently good pictures of my pets and my friends pets.



3. What a joy to read! I couldn't put it down until I had completed it! This is the best money I've spent in a long time!

   You don't need to be a "pro" photographer to take great pictures of your dog. This book will show you that, with the camera you already own, you can really capture the essence of your four-legged friend. If you don't have a camera yet, buy this book first!! It has wonderful and clear tips on what to look for in a camera.

   Step-by-step, you will learn that planning is the key to great dog photography. You will learn things like head portraits, how to choose a great location, as well as how to make beautiful action shots. There are stunning pictures in this book that will inspire the photo artist in you.

   I wish that I had this book years ago, when my first dog was still alive. Pictures like these would have brought me joy long after her passing. On the other hand, I'll be ready for the next puppy!

   Whether your dog is noble, courageous, dignified, tender, or just a clown, the techniques in this book will help you capture these qualities on camera, and will provide you with additional and poignant memories of your best pal for years to come.

1. This book tells you EVERYTHING you need to know!
   
   I read this book cover to cover and found it was FULL of interesting facts and information about Chinchillas.
   
   I recently took in two chinchillas that the owner could no longer care for. Before I bought this book, I knew nothing. Once I read the last page, I have since been able to teach others about proper Chinchilla care.
   
   I HIGHLY recommend this book for every beginner!



2. "The Chinchilla Handbook" makes a great companion book to Dr. Vanderlip's standard, "The Guinea Pig Handbook," by the same publisher. Profusely illustrated by Michele Earle-Bridges to enhance the well-organized, straightforward text, this book covers everything the novice (and veterinarian) should know about chinchilla history, suitability as pets, anatomy, housing, feeding, behavior, health care and reproduction. This comprehensive book concludes with information about color inheritance and the fascinating world of showing chinchillas competitively. A helpful list of chinchilla affinity groups and recommended publications precede the detailed book index.

1. This was a great background read for the preparations that go into the Iditarod. It's a fun and engaging read--even for long-time fans of the race. There's lots of interesting background info included. Thanks June!



2. This is a fun behind the scenes look at staging and preparing for the Iditarod. A nice blend of Who, What, Where, When, How and Why that the level of detail never gets dull. Avid sled dog fans will enjoy this along with those newly discovering the sport.



3. Reading June's book is just like experiencing all the excitement and activity of being at the Iditarod. I've been at Anchorage for the ceremonial start and then at Skwentna to help the mushers, and reading June's book, I relived my experience. I pictured myself right there again, seeing, hearing and experiencing the Iditarod through June's descriptions. This is a must read for all who would go to Iditarod, and all those who have been, and everyone else, too! Thanks, June!



4. This book is a fun read for those who have been to the Iditarod and those who wish they could go. Taking you thru all the steps leading up to the race, you'll think you are actually there. I've been to the race 3 times and helped a couple Iditarod mushers before the race. This book helps me relive those memories. I think you'll enjoy it very much!

June Price does an excellent job of bringing you right there through it all.... if you really want to know what these mushers do, go through, and provide for their dogs, how much a part of the team they are, then read this book. It's a very well done account of the true happenings surrounding this great race. June has spent many years with these very people, researching, learning, and beautifully putting to paper, the extraordinary Iditarod, it's participants, and the dogs... Everyone who loves to gather more information about the inside of the race should put this on their MUST READ list. 1. This book contained alot of good information about these little clowns. So what if there is another simillar book. The point is to get pet owners the information they need, and this book does it with ease.



2. Ok, so I have been thinking of getting a bird for quite some time, and have been reviewing all kinds of books.
   
   This book- the Complete Pet Owners Manual of Caiques, is absolutely wonderful. It goes into great detail about those wonderful little birds, everything from their mannerisms, to their diet, and their disposition.
   
   Not only do I recommend the book, but also a Caique!
   
   Enjoy!



3. In general, this is a great book for anyone looking to own a caique. The information is up-to-date and easy to understand. However, there are some things that were missed (and I would love to see this info in a 2nd edition someday).
   
   First, under the section "Special Caique Behavior", the author forgot "hopping". This is a unique behavior that is often mentioned in almost every caique article out there.
   
   Second, I would love to have read about the possibilities of owning two caiques. Do you have to get one of each sex? Or can two males and/or two females co-exist?
   
   Third, I would like to have read about the different developmental stages they go through as they mature (dominance issues, hormonal issues, etc.) and at what age to expect them. Also, at what point do they lose their dark eyes and yellow-ish chest to reveal their adult coloration? This would help a buyer determine if they were really get a young bird.
   
   Fourth, a section on breeding would be greatly appreciated, and needed, as there are very few resources for caique breeders to refer to. Photos of babies' physical developments, weight charts, feeding schedules, etc. would be quite helpful. I find caique babies more difficult in some ways to hand-raise than other species, and this info can really be of use to breeders who are new to this species.
   
   Again, this book does have a lot to offer, but I do see room for some improvement. I would be very interested in purchasing a revised edition if it were to address my above-mentioned suggestions.
