- This book is truly superb - and an excellent encyclopedia, filled with tons of useful information. However, I must say don't forget this is a British book. Therefore, you will see references to British Pounds and U.S. Dollars. This is not really a problem, except when you are looking up a specific piece of furniture, which may have a different name in England. That said, I doubt most people will even notice the difference - so, not to worry - just something to keep in mind. I definitely recommend it -the images are incredible and all in color, filling every page cover to cover. It is the best book I've ever seen on antiques. In addition, I bought it at my local bookstore and paid $80.
- Similar to Understanding Antiques in format, but offers more information. Well written and illustrated with good,clear color photos on every page. This is a must have book for any antique collector.

- Not only was I attracted to this book because I grew up in the 60's, but because I also sell vintage costume jewelry on my web site, Atlanta Vintage Jewelry.
Roseann Ettinger's book contains a lot of pictures that were nostalgic to me. It features deco jewelry, punk, novelty and bi-centennial pieces, plus mod and Avon jewelry popular when I was in school, and a whole lot more, including themes like 'Back to Nature'.
This book is not only great for vintage jewelry collectors or people who deal in jewelry, like myself, but also as a great reminder of when we were teens. I love it.

- What a great book! Miriam breaks down the elusive "Classic Modern Chair" into time periods and even current availability. So popular, the publish was out of them for a time. I highly recommend this to any designer, student, or anyone else interested in modern periods and furniture!
- Miriam Stimpson uses this book in her course, and it's one of the few books I kept from college. Great photographs recording the history and diversity of classic furniture. Mostly seating. I learned a ton, and was inspired to design furniture myself
