1 comments about Rustic Furniture Makers.
- "Collectable" ... Dust cover photo is a fine example of rustica. Good examples throughout, though the focus seems to be mostly on the Adirondack 'twig & bark' style ... more of a cliche genre than a hint as to what REALLY can be done with 'found' and 'distressed' materials.
NOT a how-to book, but nice.

1 comments about Timeless Interiors: Rooms Inspired by the Past.
- The photographs in this book are stunning. However, if you're looking for decorating or design ideas this is not the book for you. There are virtually no practical ideas included -- it's more of a conceptual work.

3 comments about Golden Oak Furniture (Schiffer Book for Collectors).
- This book is a rare find. I have never seen a book with so many color photographs depicting numerous examples of American oak furniture. It covers every type of furniture you can imagine. The accompanying text is expertly organized as a narrative as well as a reference text providing descriptions of the furniture supplemented with a glossary of terminology. This is a highly distinguished publication.
- This book has helped me immensely in identifying different styles of furniture especially nowadays when there is such a highbred of types. I feel more comfortable rummaging antique shops. However Golden Oak does not necessarily imply American? So I was disappointed in not finding any "Harris Lebus" (England) brand furniture in the book. This book is a keeper and needs to be reviewed periodically to keep the different styles in ones mind. If you have not guessed this is a picture book.
- If you are searching for a guide in reference to Golden Oak Furniture, this book supplies it all. It is filled with wonderful color pictures and a large assortment of furniture types. This book has been a time saver for me.

1 comments about Gold Leaf Application and Antique Restoration (Schiffer Book for Woodworkers).
- Waste of money...
This book is good only for school projects and absolutely not useful for artists, restorers or woodworkers.
Very amateur...Featuring stone age techniques, which can only discourage the follower.
Don't give any choice of supplies, don't warn about possible mistakes an failures during the process and do not say how to avoid or fix those mistakes.
Anyway... Following this book amateur will only get frustrated:
Spend a fortune for supplies and sabotage there treasures...
Professionals or semi-professionals - simply don't need it...
Businesses which selling supplies and gold leaf offer a seminars and comprehensive guides "how to" for gold leafing. Much more useful...
About restoration - still searching for good info...

1 comments about Encyclopedia of Furniture.
- The Encyclopedia of Furniture by Simon Yates, Constance King, and Mark Bridge is a wealth of information in a very readable information in a very readable format. It is laid out in sections by centuries with an introduction discussing the development of style of four major types of pieces- chairs, sofas, tables and desks. This information is conveyed by individual pieces of furniture noted with color photos, full descriptions including date, style, descriptions, materials used, and the name of the maker, if known. Enlightening details are given with these photos. Here are some examples: "Two other distinct Boston characteristics are the decorations on the knees of the cabriole legs and Rococo style made with a punch rather than carved with a chisel and the rat-claw feet, broadened to look more like a rat's paw than a lion's." With over 1000 illustrated pieces, this would be a good addition to your library.
