1. Who would have thought that Britain's premier monster hunter - Jon Downes - could put together a book that combines the best of Forteana with Koi-Carp keeping? Well, he's done it! Area 51, space-aliens, the Loch Ness Monster, the JFK assassination and more are all shown to have a link with nothing less than Koi-Carp. Entertaining, bizarre and hilarious.

2. This book is extremely comprehensive and informative. It covers all of the basics and gives great advice about water gardens. James Allison provides a wide varitey of examples for people of all skill levels. I will be building a water garden this summer, and this book has greatly aided me in planning my project.

1. I checked this book (and many others) out of the library before purchasing. Being new to the hobby I found this to be one of the better books for routine maintenance schedules, feeding, fish health, etc.

1. There might be good advice in the book, but it is not written well. There is a lot of self-promotion by the authors. The language changes through the book, probably due to being written by more then one author. At least one of these authors is not understable by American reader at all due to extensive use of (probably) British fishing terminology, incomplete phrases and a lot of "scientific" pretense.
   The entire chapter on bait does not have a single recipe. Nothing even resembling a recipe. Not even a hint of what common ingredients are.



2. Having purchased the book over a year ago and being a carp fisherman for over three years I found that the advice on bait application and overall fishing strategies invaluable, it has a given me a real insight into getting closer to understanding the carps mind. The book has given me not only extensive knowledge, but a improvement in results, both on and off the bank, a great read.



3. I am a keen fisherman and this book has enlightned me a lot more I have found out how to approach carp fishing in a mental and phyisical way I really enjoyed the book and recomend it to all fishermen.

1. This book is good for the setup part of the Aquarium hobby, but is severely lacking in fish identifications. Meaning, it is one of the least used fish books I own. Most of the other information is good.



2. I recently read this guide and found it very helpful in making decisions for my new acquarium and also discovered ways to care for my new friends! Life is much easier now.. Thanks Amazon!

1. You could write much more extensive book about gouramies and bettas easily. I would have wanted to see much more pictures and more specific information about species. This book isn't bad but it could be much better too.



2. It is concise which is fine and in the beginning has general information that applies not only to Gouramies. Then it describes the various species but there is not enough data about the behavior of each of the species and also not enough information on how to breed.
