2 comments about Loricariidae - The Most Beautiful L-Numbers (Aqualog Special).
- All of the Aqualog books are excellent value, although they are not particularly cheap. They are full to the brim with first class colour photographs and to reproduce these in a book is an expensive process. Whether they are about the beautiful L Number now coming into the aquarist trade or some other species of fish they are the most comprehensive identification books you can buy. They never become dated because as new fish become available to the aquarist trade the books are updated. There is not a lot of literature on L numbered fishes, so this book is invaluable.
They do not deal with the basics of fish keeping, there are many and varied books that do that. They are in the main a fish identification encyclopaedia and not a lot more. But for those aquarists who are particularly interested in a single species they are indispensable.
- This book offers classification of all the new Loricariidae on the market. It tells the maximum size the fish can get and what temperatures it likes to live in. I hope everybody enjoys this book as much as I do.

1 comments about Window to the Sea: Behind the Scenes at America's Great Public Aquariums.
- I bought this book for my 4 year old granddaughter. She originally got this book at the library and just loved it. This is her favorite book of the hundreds of books she owns. She spends hours looking at the photographs of the different species of sea life. We are learning a great deal together about these wonderful creatures.

2 comments about Tetras and Other Characins.
- My item came on time and in good condition. Those are the two important things to me.
- This book is wonderful. An excellent and concise book for the beginner who wants to start keeping characins. There is a short technical introduction followed by tips of setting up a characin tank. It also highlights a majority of the characins that are available for the hobby. Each of the characin featured in the book is supported by a brief but rich description of its living habitat, water quality (pH and water hardness) and the type of food it needs. The pictures in the book are clear and the photographs are well-taken.

- This book didn't have nearly enough information. I still have tons of questions about my goldfish. It is especially lacking in information on goldfish illness.

2 comments about Baensch Aquarium Atlas Photo Index 1-5 (New Second Edition).
- The Baensch Photo Index 1-5 is one of the most recent additions to the fine series of Baensch aquarium books.
Excellent from a technical perspective (a clean, easty-to-follow layout with stunning photography) the book really excells because of the huge amount of information it packs into a small space. It is ideally suited to the task of fish identification, although the sheer number of species listed may make this a daunting task for the beginning hobbist. Potential buyers should note however that the amount of written information in this book is not as extensive as other volumes. Rather than a deficiency, this has to be viewed as a necessary evil, as the book's aim is to present as much as it can while remaining portable. Even so, the information listed is nothing to scoff at. This book has become my most used reference source and I highly recommend it to beginner and advanced aquarists alike.
- Stunning. I have never seen so may fish photographs in one book, although information on each species pictured is limited to a few symbols and words, these are functional and in most cases all that is required. Words however are not this books main purpose easy access to visual information is.
For the catfish keeper : 146 catfish pages with usually 6 photograph thumbnails per page = approximately 846 pictures. I didn't count them but I think it's fair to say that's over 500 species all with excellent photographs. Many rare and unidentified or described species appear alongside aquarium mainstays. This is applicable to all types of freshwater fish which are featured in equal volume. This book is one big index for the other 5 volumes, but what an index! About 1/3 of the whole book is a common, current and old scientific name index covering all fives volumes and the photo index itself. Now that's useful! I love this book.

3 comments about Aqualog Special - Breathtaking Rainbows.
- The pictures are amazing- so bright and colourful. The book is very informative covering a number of different topics. A great book for the Rainbow fan!!!
Enjoy!

- You will know some Rainbows that are fit to small aquariums. This book tells you how to set a nice environment for Rainbows, how to keep and breed them. Also, lots excellent photos.

5 comments about The Guide to Owning Malawi Cichlids.
- This book is excellent for the price. It contains basic knowledge with a bit of advanced aquarist practices. Most pics are of good quality, with the exception of some fish that are in terrible condition. This was my first African Cichlid book and I would recommend it to newcommers to the hobby.
- This book is about what you'd expect for the price - it's full of fantastic pictures, but doesn't have much more information than you could find just browsing the internet.
- This book is the most superbly written refrence on Malawi Cichlids that it has ever been my privilage to read.
- I highly recommend this book! The pictures are high quality and information is presented in an easy, cookbook fashion. Well worth the small price.
- Good entry level Malawi cichlid aquarist book dealing with only the most common species.
