1 comments about Beretta Pistols: The Ultimate Guide.
- And excellent book with a lot of information, it brings as especial features a complete description of the guns even it includes the last versions of Beretta Hand Guns until the Model PX4 Storm. The book will be perfect if it includes color images and no black and white pictures.

3 comments about Collecting Antique Bird Decoys and Duck Calls: An Identification and Price Guide.
- This is one book that I never received, even after they charged my credit card, they would not respond to my emails, offer a refund, or even send me a replacement for the "one lost in the mail."
- A very well-researched book, this is definately one for the collector. This book's true value lies in its value guides and background information, making for facinating reading. Unfortunately, the photography is only average, and mostly black and white (there is a middle section of 63 colored pages).
- This is a great book. I've collected decoys for several years and I own the previous edition of Collecting Antique Bird Decoys and Duck Calls which is now some 10 years old. No disrespect, but the new edition by Russ Lewis far surpasses the old book. Not only will you find thousands of photos but Lewis, an avid collector himself, provides loads of information on traditonal carvers, factory birds, regional influences throughout North America and much more. The depth and breadth of the work is impressive. Lewis is a university professor, and you can tell that he is an educator at heart. It also helps that he has a soul of a collector. If you collect decoys, bird calls, or simply enjoy the outdoors you'll love this book. I'll bet my Red-breasted Merganser decoy on it.

4 comments about Firearm Blueing and Browning, Revised Edition (Classic Gun Books Series) (Classic Gun Books).
- I bought this book expecting to set up a homemade gun bluing operation in my home and was disappointed.
The chemical formulari were archaic and unusable (most of the chemical names used went out of vogue 50-60 years ago).
The book does not include plans to build bluing tanks of drying rooms; book only offers a brief description.
It left me, "the advanced do it yourselfer" lacking and I do not undertand why so many people rave about this book.
I do not think it should have been reprinted.
It did not help me at all
- Good information on many recipes for do it yourself blueing and browning that is hard to find.
- The print is very small for older eyes and the book was written many years ago. The blueing and browning techniques of today are far easier and simpler to use.
I would not recomend this book for reblueing modern firearms.
- Very good info but very technical. This is more of a cookbook then a novel. It does explain everything including measurments and chemical names but is very dry reading. Please keep in mind that this title is 90 years old and the style reflects it. The fact that it is still around after so many years tells all you really need to know in regard to it's value as a reference.

3 comments about Standard Guide to Razors: Identification and Values (Standard Guide to Razors Identification and Values).
- It may seem too specific a subject for more general collector's reference shelves, but many collect razors and will find this specific guide to their identification and value and important reference. Black and white and color photos of selected antiques accompany charts and graphs of values packaged in a format perfect for take-along tote.
- The book is a good reference for any collector. However, the book pictured online is the Second Edition, which we thought we were receiving. We received the first edition, not the second updated version as was pictured online.
- look no further this is the book it is the ultimate guide to razors not just the ones you shave with. I mean knifes razors and well everything. belive me take my advice by this book. good job roy ritchie.

4 comments about Home Workshop Prototype Firearms: How To Design, Build, And Sell Your Own Small Arms (Home Workshop Guns for Defense & Resistance).
- People who really know Bill Holes' books should understand that this book was never meant as a how to build book. I have all volumes of bill's home workshop guns for defense and resistance and this book is just not one of the series on how to build a gun, it is written as a supplement on the first 5, it is a book written in a general style concearning general gun issues. However, the book gives a nice idea of several subject concearning gun design, and bill gives some nice alternatives for some designing problems wich you might encounter. People tend to see bill as some form of gun messiah who gives away a nice design in every book for a few bucks, well, he is not, he is just an experienced gun disigner who designed some nice guns and gives a lot of practical designing ideas of his own mind in his books home workshop guns part 1 to 5. Finally, you people go out and try to find one decent gun design on the internet, let me tell you, there are none. Every info you can get on gun designs is valuable, including the info written in this book, so just buy it, it will be soon that books like these will be forbidden by the weak pacifist mass.
- This book is nice reading if you already know what the gun trade is about, but it gives only minimal information on the actual construction of firearms. Too much talk and crude drawings do not really promote this publication. If you're after a nuts-and-bolts handbook for firearms construction, don't buy this one, but start off with something simple. P.T.Luty's book would be a useful alternative.
- The author of this book prides himself of not having a formal education and it shows. You will find no useful technical information necessary to safely design, build, and test firearms.
What I didn't like about this book: Outdated information about firearms laws, hand drawn technical drawings (get a DELL dude), no information on new manufacturing technologies such as composite materials or CNC, total lack of technical information, single page on marketing of firearms. (There is more but I stop here) What I did like about this book: It has a shiny cover. If you are looking for real information on the engineering of firearms look elsewhere.
- Some authors have a gift for conveying their thoughts to the reader in simple, non-technical terms. Bill Holms, author of this book, simply isn't one of them. This book is a helpful guide for designing your own marketable firearms, but practically requires that you be well-versed in the inner workings of guns to start with. There seems to be a few holes here and there, such as the lack of information on the case extraction and ejection systems, and a good, thourough explanation is rare indeed; Holmes instead covers a huge variety of action types (bolt, autoloading, etc.) and other mechanisms, but devotes only minimal space to each.
Overall, the book (which includes the plans for a 12-gauge shotgun and 10-round magazine)is a worthwhile buy to those who already have a good idea of how a gun works. Otherwise, you're better off simply sticking with books by P.A. Luty or Gerard Metral.

3 comments about The History of Remington Firearms: The History of One of the World's Most Famous Gun Makers.
- The information in this book is amazing. It is very interesting for any person interested in rifles. Pictures are real and very informative.
- This is a superficial look a Remington's products. It is fine for the novice but there is little new information for the more informed gun nut. Pictures are nice of the old factory and early development.
There are better sources.
- My father use to work for Remington Arms as a project engineer back in the sixties. I was born in Ilion, New York. He really enjoys the book. I gave it to him for Christmas.

2 comments about Shotguns for Wingshooting.
- Fantastic book overall!! Topics covered include side by side to autoloaders to various kinds of ammo for all types of birds. Great read from an honest author!
- Barsness has written the best current overview of shotguns for hunting: not sporting clays, trap, etc. He is not aligned nor does he show a marked prejudice for a particular type of shotgun like the side by side which is so prevalent today. He explains the advantages and downsides of various guns and does a particularly good job on the very important, if not vital, subject of stock design and fit. Although I think you can find much of this information elsewhere, Barsness brings it together in a very concise format and cuts through the "poppycock." Plus, the photos are great!

2 comments about The Working Folding Knife.
- I'm not a streetfighter, and I don't need a Marine survival knife that can slit somebody's throat, hammer in a tent peg and has fishing gear secreted in the handle. I just wanted to know why my grandfather carried a Barlow knife and why a pocket knife has so many blades.
This book not only satisfied my curiousity about the history and purpose of folding knives, but it helped me choose a new knife and sharpen the ones that I already have. The author covers both traditional styled knives and the latest high-tech materials & one-hand openers. He also discusses multi-tools (think Leatherman) and survival knives. For what it's worth, he does cover folding defensive knives. Most of what is available on the subject today is either aimed at military hobbiests or collectors who like to spend big bucks on exotics. This book is written by somebody who just likes to carry and use pocket knives--working knives for people who aren't afraid to get their blades dirty. I found it informative and enjoyable, and recommend it for anyone who is interested in pocket knives. A serious collector would probably want to read this book also, but it isn't intended for people who put their knives in a case and look at them.
- Steven Dick has prepared an excellent book on all facets folding knife design, development, and use. This book is the most complete reference on this subject thus far. It contains informative chapters on production, custom, and antique knives. The book helps the reader make informed choices regarding cutlery and also the proper methods and tools necessary for its upkeep. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about the interesting world of knives.

3 comments about The Gun and its Development (Ninth Edition).
- Everything you will ever need to know about Guns and Ammunition of all types , most informative.
- Not much more to say. If you purchase, admire, fire, or just drool over old firearms you need to add this book to your shelf. Every bit as important to the collector as the works by the late great George Madis. It is not necessarily a fun or even easy book to read but it is THE authoritative historical reference. If you can get your hands on an original hard-cover edition you'll find that the illustrations are just a bit clearer -- but bring more money.
- This book is a complete sporting gun encyclopedia, it has made many of my gun books totally useless as this one looks to be the source of all information other authors used to create their books. Although its the least costing book I own, it is certainly the most valuable one.
