- It is a nice little book. Good as a gift. It doesn't contain that much useful information, but creates a mood. For someone who enoys and appreciates beautiful and impractical things.
- It's tiny and has beautiful images. Nothing spectacular but it's a good quality little book about lingerie.
- My expectations were not fulfilled in terms of quality information. With a poetic mood you will find some vague and brief descriptions of different types of lingerie.
However, the photographs are really good, has a lovely cover and in the end is a cute little book that looks great in you nightable!

5 comments about The Beauty of Color: The Ultimate Beauty Guide for Skin of Color.
- This book is nothing like any other "celebrity" how-to-book you've ever read. Let's face it, celebrities set trends, style, fashion, good or bad. Looking at them we think, I'd look fabulous too if I had a person to do my hair and make-up flawlessly! Iman says you CAN have someone to do it, YOU! And because no one was really interested in doing make-up for darker hues when she stepped onto the runway, she had to do her own. But the silver lining is that now she can share everything she learned. Her first point is crucial, she emphasizes that women must begin by looking in the mirror and seeing that they are beautiful without the makeup. When I heard her on Oprah's Show, I couldn't believe she was so real, down to earth, and connected to women. That connection is detailed as she provides little girl pictures of all the beautiful ceebrity women she showcases, and there is great diversity among them. This is ideal for little girls who feel like ugly ducklings,in that the book allows them to see there's a whole lot of growing into their beauty they will have to do. She also shows that few of us are born with, and keep, perfect skin, but we all have beautiful skin to work with. Whether light or dark, the book includes the do's and don'ts in an easy to follow language and doesn't endorse a bunch of expensive products. Instead, there are basic rules of the trade, products that she considers must haves, and examples of every look one might want for any event (including the I just ran to the store look!). Finally, the directions are detailed for skin, lips, eyes, eye brows, and much, much more. Most importantly, she shares that any woman can enjoy different colors with no holds barred. Express yourself! Beautifully photographed, illustrated, and packed with information, Iman uses humor and grace to connect and make you feel like a friend. Makes a Wonderful gift!
- Former supermodel Iman, now founder of a successful cosmetic line, focuses on the entire gamut of skin tones - from light to dark - with this quality coffee table book.
Full of chapters on skincare and makeup, Iman also debunks the myths and provides insights from top beauties like Selma Hayek, Eve and Tyra Banks. Sure to be appreciated by all women of color - whether black, Hispanic, Middle Eastern or Asian.
- I bought this book as christmas gift to myself. This book tells of basic makeup application for the eyes, skin, lips, etc. It has different looks for you to try and it gives you instruction on how to apply it. I rated this book 4 stars because I thought their should have been more african-american women in our variety of colors, but the book is the the book of color. I have tried one of the looks and I can say I looked HOT!! Good for beginners.
- I love this book! I checked it out of the library but I'm planning on purchaseing it soon. So many great tips and everything is explained so nicely. I love Iman's voice in it too. She's sweet and funny and is open-minded about how there are rules in applying make-up but no rules! Allow yourself to be creative! The only reason I'm not giving it a five star is because no book is perfect and also because I didn't see one picture of a woman with the same shade of skin as mine. I have a unique color. Not dark brown but not light tan. So, I was in between a lot with the advice on what colors to purchase. Plus, it didn't help that women like Vanessa Williams and Halle Berry are in it claiming to be African-American (black pride) but we all KNOW that they wouldn't look like that if they weren't biracial. Yea, your black with blue eyes?! Let me not go there....two points for Alicia Keys who said she is biracial. Anyway, enjoy and don't forget to have fun!
- I am a MUA and i have to say that this book is freakin' AMAZING!!! its beautifully inspiring...and a great reference book for women of color! i love it!!!!! BUY IT !!

1 comments about Paris Collection: French Doll Fashions & Accessories.
- As a novice french fashion doll collector, I found this book to be very helpful. I learned about the different types of fashion dolls and what to look for before I buy one. It also gives great detail on the dolls accessories, especially their dresses. I also like the fact that this book contains patterns of original french fashion gowns so you could make your own reproduction of the real thing.

1 comments about Designing a Knitwear Collection: From Inspiration to Finished Garment.
- I think it has too many history pages..practically half the book is on history of knitwear with lots of pictures ...I guess that what you pay for since the book is rather pricy. Overall an excellent book with clear explaination and description.

1 comments about Shoes: A History From Sandals to Sneakers.
- My daughter got this book to use as a resource for a school report, and it does have some interesting history and great sections, like the Chinese shoes. But where are Birkenstocks and Earth shoes?? These also have changed shoe history, so why were they, and other "bohemian" shoes not included? Just because they are ugly to certain people, some of us are more concerned with comfort after years of wearing fashion (feet and posture killing) shoes, and now wear these, or similar "clunky" shoes. A real history would include everything.

5 comments about The Monster Makers Mask Makers Handbook.
- Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1YZV7MCL1M168 This book gave me the basic knowledge I needed to begin casting molds and making my own latex masks. As you can see from the video, I got my monies worth. and it wasn't even that much.
I recommend this book for anyone who wants to learn the basics of making latex masks.
- Reads like a magazine ad for their products, although it is a step by step procedure using their products to creat one heck of a mask.
- I only had two qualms with this product and neither of them are really bad things at all:
1) I wish ALL of the pictures were color, especially in the painting section, but that would have probably made this book prohibitively expensive.
2) I didn't realise you got this book free when you made a purchase from their website (one of their mask making kits). Still it was a great read and a nice price.
- The book does a good job of showing you how to create a single mask type, using a real sized bust(armature) and clay to create a sculpture. All of the basic steps are covered, from the initial sculpture, making a mold, to casting the final mask and using an air brush to paint the design.
However, I would have liked to see the book cover different techniques for creating masks. May times, just one approach doesn't work for everything.
The book is also a bit light, with 41 pages of usable information.
- This is a great book.
I have had this book for a while, and would not trade it for anything. For clear, detailed, step by step instructions and techniques on how to mold, cast, & paint a, latex, full head mask, this IS the book for you. A good reference for the advanced artist, and a good starting point for the beginner.(***not really for little kids making halloween masks, more for older kids, and adults interested in special effects makeup and masks) The book details all of the materials used and needed, which are avail at Monster Makers, outstanding, store.
Arnold, and the people at Monster Makers are great, and they really know their stuff, real indusrty professionals...NO I don't work for them, its just true; I have, however, worked in the "effects" field for over 20 years.
This is a great book and I highly recommend it.
