1. This is an excellent book for girls who want to dabble in making their own soap/beauty products. Directions walk girls through the steps to making their own finished products that they can actually use when they're done. Along with the recipes and instructions, girls will also receive basic info on blending and properties of the materials with which they're working.

1. This is a great book for students or anyone interested in 20th century costume. I found it to be a wonderful reference, with lots of photographs to illustrate the fashions of the times. I used several of the photographs to design clothing when patterns were otherwise unavailable.

1. I was extremely disappointed with this book. I see pictures of clothes and do not know where to find them or if I can even afford them. I see celebrities who had tons of help to look good but no real women.

1. I picked this up for a very inexpensive price and am very thankful I did. It is an illustrated timeline approach to fashion beginning in Ancient Egypt and ending in modern times. Very brief written descriptions of the clothing can be found at the bottom of the pages.

1. This book has dreadful illustrations. The instructions are vague and very limited. It's a perfectly useless book, even for a beginner. Don't waste your money on this worthless book.

1. Wow - I'm amazed that this book hasn't got more attention. First off it looks like a coffee table bookw ith loads of good pix and graphics - there is one of McLaren & Westwood from 1971 which is incredible. I've got all the books and pix relating to the Sex Pistols and this pair but I've never seen that one before.

   Anyway there are loads of examples for everyone - the Elvis pix are great as are the Beatles and Mod ones. But once you start reading it really comes into its own.

   There are interviews with the guy that made Elvis's clothes way back in teh eraly 50s as well as The Beatles tailor but also up to date people like Wayne Hemingway.

   My own criticism is that there isn't enough on American style but I guess since we stole a whole lot from the limeys it could be justified.

   Can't recommend it enough.

1. I bought this book in the hope that it would have some good illustrations and information about Art Deco Pochoir fashion prints. However, the book seems to be an English translation of a period French fashion book illustrated with Deco fashion illustrations and period descriptions of what people should be wearing.
   
   If you want to get a "feel" for the fashion descriptions of the period then this book is for you. If you want to know more about the Pochoir printing process, the introduction has a very good description, but the contents of the book itself adds no new information. It's a pretty to look at book, but shows neither the best of the fashions of the period nor provides any real useful information for people interested in either costume or graphic arts.
