2 comments about Fast, Fun & Easy Fabric Critter Bags: From Stuff Stashers to Beach Bags to Pillowcases (Fast, Fun & Easy).
- This slim book does deliver what it promises: inspiration for making "fabric critter bags". But I expected more variety. Rather than instructions for a shark pillowcase, beach bag AND fleece-lined bag, I'd have liked ideas for a wider range of creatures. Still, many crafters could adapt the basic patterns to make their own menagerie: a koala beach bag, for instance, or an owl tote.
- Reviewed by Elysabeth Eldering
This is the first craft book I have ever reviewed. I like doing crafts, although I don't have time for sewing crafts.
For these critter bags, the basic directions are the same and the fun part comes in personalizing them with eyes and the like.
If I had the time to make the projects, I would choose the pillowcase, the beach bag, circle-based totes, and the fleece-lined mini bags. None of the projects would be difficult to make and for a sewer who has scrap fabric lying around, the materials would be easily found. If I were a sewer, I would have most of the items in my sewing cabinet for fun, crafty projects.
The pillowcases are probably the easiest to make because only have to sew on the faces and/or body parts of the animals and then sew the cases together and hem them. The directions are very easy to follow-and you can tell by the asides that some thought has been put into how to make these projects your own by changing the style of the eyes or making the faces a little different than the pattern.
These projects would be great to do with a Girl Scout troop earning their sewing badge or a slumber party with each girl making something different.
The one set of projects I really didn't like was the "puppy gift bags." These were just not as cute as the other projects because there didn't seem to be any variety in the style or the look of the pups. The only variant was the size of the bag to be used as a gift bag.
Overall, the projects seem to be quickly worked and fun to make. I'm hoping to let the girls in my daughter's church group take part in making some bags for gifts or whatever they can.
Armchair Interviews says: New uses for scrap fabrics in the hands of creative people.

1 comments about Secrets of the Riviera: A Photo Essay.
- I bought this book with high expectations and I was not disappointed! The pictures were large and beautiful. This is a book that looks good on your coffee table. All the Victoria Secret models from a couple years back were in the book including, Gisele, Adrianna, Alessandra, Eva, Carmen, Stephanie, and much more. You'll definitly enjoy this book.
My only complaint is that a couple of pictures were so blurry that you could not see anything and that was just a waste of pages. It's still worth five stars though!

3 comments about Fashion Model Photography: Professional Techniques and Images.
- I was very disappointed in Amherst and Mr. Pegram. The effort fell considerably short of a book geared toward instruction. Mr. Pegram continually makes reference to how he shot the subject, but never shows the effect of his tips, because the images are in B/W. Sometimes Billy informs you technically how he pulled the shoot off and other times it is a mystery. Amherst has been in the Photography instruction publishing business a long time, but I feel they should have stepped up and consulted with Mr. Pegram and published the book in color. BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME! How about a refund??????????????????????????????????????
- This photographer has incredible talent and should publish additional books. A real learning experience.
- This book talked mainly about the pictures in this book and not about actually doing fashion photography as well as working with models. I don't think it gave enough information about model photography that an acquiring mind would want to know. Also I realized that a lot of the pictures in the book were suppose to be in color but they were printed B&W.
