3 comments about Anna Piaggi's Fashion Algebra: D.P. in Vogue.

  1. Very interesting use of collage to convey fashion and beauty. Great for inspiring fashion layouts for magazines and students.

  2. Piaggi, herself, may not appear attractive or in any way sensible but this is her great appeal. Her contribution to fashion over the decades is the fantasy and immagination that make her and the creative collages within this book one of a ture muse. Take a tiny part and convert clothes into having your own style and true fashion!

  3. No point wastuing words on this, the previous line says it al

2 comments about Glam Scam: Successfully Avoiding the Casting Couch and Other Talent and Modeling Scams.

  1. Of course it is essential to be informed about this and any industry in which one plans to become involved. But this book is intended to be sensational, to scare poor parents into fearing for their daughter's (or son's) safety and psychological health. All good parents already fear this. Some step-by-step instruction and real information on how to find your place in the industry, how to deal with agents and clients and sensible advice on communicating effectively with your teenager (who wants to model) would be far more helpful

  2. MUST HAVE This book is crucial for your collection! The Glam Scam should be on every single bookshelf, regardless of which aspect of the industry you work in.

Enough praise cannot be given for the value... the back blurbs are not hype -- this is the most important book to read for anyone even considering a career in the Entertainment Industry.

Exceptionally well organized, and packed with informative content... Mr Joseph is well spoken as he not only covers the monetary scams, but also those of a more dangerous nature.

If you don't believe the praise, visit your local library and read just the first few pages -- I can guarantee you'll be racing to pick up your own copy... and when done, you'll feel grateful you did as well. After years in the industry, I continue to praise this work, and refer to it often when guiding others in the industry...

This book is a definite Must Have on very single bookshelf...

1 comments about Giorgio Armani.

  1. I have ben searching for a book on Armani for years and as soon as I saw this book... I snapped it up. It is not as comprehensive as I had hoped, as it has only 79 pages. The written section appears to be a collection of comments from interviews over the years and the second section includes photos of a sample of his fashions from 1982 to 2000. Anyone in love with Armani fashion will be keen to buy this book. I would love to see a larger volume with more of the same, including more information on Armani's philosphy of fashion design and his everyday work methods.

2 comments about Men of Color: Fashion, History, and Fundamentals.

  1. This book is a classic..it has it all; from Marvin Gaye to LL Cool J...from Boxer Sugar Ray Robinson to our today's Michael Jordan, Men of color have a history of fashion that is detailed throughout this tabletop book.

The different types of suits, hats, styles of the periods are examined. Black men have always taken pride in their dress and appearance. This is revealed in all the remarkable pictures and the editorials and interviews. The pictures are Excellent! A combination of black & white, Sepia and some color. You have different poses, camera angels of men like Sam Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Billy Dee, Ed Bradley...and so many more!!

This is a great investment....for yourself or as a gift! With all it has to offer, there is much to appreciate about Men of Color.

  2. I bought this book for myself and I've truly enjoyed it. I received a second copy from a co-worker as a Christmas Gift. I think that it's very interesting to look at the different styles of Black Men of years past.

I loved the Different Profile Commentary from Byrant Gumble, Bill Cosby, Ed Bratley, etc. I really respect each one's own personal sense of style.

I was given my second copy from a White Female Co-worker, who simply loves the book. I really think that she hated to give it up. Perhaps I'll buy her her own copy in the future.

1 comments about Greek and Roman Dress from A to Z (The Ancient World from a to Z).

  1. What a pity for the competent writers of this very expensive book, that is a disgrace for the publisher! I feel really obliged to warn the interested reader. Most of the illustrations are horrible, very clumsy and totally unworthy of a book with a scientific purpose. I do not exaggerate: even a child of ten doodles better!

4 comments about CAD for Fashion Design.

  1. This was sadly disappointing and did not really talk about how to do anything but rather how CAD for design was being used all over the industry. I would think that a book titled CAD for Fashion Design would actually show you how to do CAD for fashion design.

  2. Especially with that title, you would expect alot of info on CAD for fashion right? Maybe see things like; how you would create patterns, even 3-D representations, or create prints and colors for fabrics, where I might look for resources on manufacturers and software providers, etc. Well, there are countless mentions in the book of people who use CAD for tons of various things, but almost no mention of HOW any of those people go about it. In some instances the writer is like: yeah, this internet thing is great for selling clothing, web sellers can actually superimpose different colors onto the same garments! yipee. You get the picture, OLD, and not really hands-on at all, more like an informationless overview.

  3. Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) is used in every field of Fashion. Fashion Designers who work with different types of Design programmes, must read this book in the beginning. This book is so easy to read and understand for beginners. It also has a 3.5'' floppy disk containing of apparel images. It's worth to buy...

  4. It is an excellent book for my jo
