1 comments about Wilhemina's World of Child Modeling.
- I really like this book. It is extremely easy to read and is great for someone who knows nothing. It familarises you with modeling terms and gives you some idea of what to expect. I'm not sure how this compares to other books or the child modeling experience itself though and I did still have some remaining questions after finishing the book.

2 comments about Fragrance: The Story of Perfume from Cleopatra to Chanel.
- The information presented in this book is amazing in its scope and depth. Histories of anything usually leave me bored, but I was thoroughly impressed by the unusual yet thorough way Morris presented the information. It is not intended to be a how-to manual. The word history in the title should tell you that. If you just want to know how to make perfume, soap, candles, etc. and don't want to be knowledgeable about your product then this is not for you. Personally, I found it fascinating.
- I rented this book out from the library hoping to learn more about the steps taken to create a fragrance. Unfortunately, the information there is sparse compared to the amount of time the author spends on the history of fragrance. The chapter on essential oils is excellent and provides a nice introduction. The section on the business of fragrance is paltry. The author writes well and the information is straightforward.

1 comments about Jeans Style: Must-Have Looks Using Embellishments (Style).
- I thought the embellishments in this book were so cheesy! I'm not going to use hot glue for attaching things to my jeans! I thought the best embellishments were in the preview of the book. They were so basic and a bit ridiculous. Save your money.

2 comments about Black Style.
- I'd had a chance to glance through this book prior to purchase so I knew what I was getting. I really enjoyed the international view on Black Style especially in Africa. I would have like to see some black style in the states. This book offers history and context to black style shifts, insprirations and aesthetics. I was very pleased with the pictures and content.
- From the striking cover photo by Hainsley Brown to the final page, this book is a satisfying visual feast even if you don't stop to read the text. But please do, because the essays explore a fascinating variety of socio-cultural and political issues of African identity as expressed through clothing, hairstyles and accessories. I particularly enjoyed Carolyn Cooper's essay, "Dancehall Dress: Competing Codes of Decency in Jamaica." It was inspired by a dress code for patients posted in a Hospital Emergency Department which admonished, among other things, "NO Dancehall Style!" and the ensuing conversation it provoked among those in the waiting room. Thought provoking!

4 comments about Historical Costumes of England 1066-1968.
- this book has excellent realistic drawings of the dress of the ages. I'm familiar with the 1066-1930 version. Some say that any modern drawings of the past are not to be trusted, in favor of artwork from the era being studied ,but I think nancy bradfield's work in the field is very admirable, and i trust her renditions. She has spent much time researching her field, and is an accomplished artist. There is an organized layout of eras and descriptions for each including textiles ,colour, hair, etc. No pattern cuts, but definately adesireable book to a historical dress enthusiast.

- I read this book in library, and it's amazing. I've looked at other books on medieval costume, but none have been as helpful or as easy to use as this one. The time periods are listed in order under the names of the rulers of England, with detailed sections for both men and women. Half of the pages of the book have beautiful black and white sketches of the costumes of the time period, and then on the page facing the sketches there are descriptions of the garments of the time period, down to the colours and fabrics.
- This is a wonderful quick reference of historical costumes in England. Half the book is black and white sketches of costumes through the years. The other half is a short history of the costumes worn during various time periods. The time periods are sectioned according to rulers (kings/queens) of the time. Every aspect of clothing is discussed from undergarments to headpieces. Because of the easy format, I use this book to look things up for quick answers. I am not an expert, but the accuracy of the content of this book is relatively decent as a quick reference. I would not recommend this book to those looking for detailed costume information. I would recommend it as a quick reference or for sketches.
