1. My students really enjoyed this book. They laughed out loud in response to the humor. Several students asked me to read it to the class again. Many students read it themselves more than once. Several students were inspired to commit themselves to weight redustion.

1. I absolutely loved this book. It's a must read for anyone from the 60's/70's as Rusty takes us on a trip down memory lane with references to great music and cutlure. It's also a journey into the pain of his life, as he celebrates it, at the same time.



2. I am amazed how relate-able these stories/essays are; no matter where you're from, growing up in this simple, yet magical time. The author weaves many wonderful yarns of memories and feelings brought together with poignant messages of reflective enlightenment and hope. I have read Rusty's other novels which are also captivating, but this is a more personal account that's truthfully uplifting! A well-recommended read indeed!

1. I read this book and then passed it on to other friends. Each of them, from children to an 85 year old, said that it was such easy reading and written just like someone was talking. It is good for any age. The illustrations were kind of "down home", too. I would recommend this to anyone.



2. The book held my attention. I couldn't put it down until I read the entire book. It is filled with humor and easy to read. I highly recomnmend this book for all ages. It is a must for reading about the South during the Great Depression.

1. Extremely entertaining, well written, author had a broad knowledge of history which he used to infuse humor into the various stories of his childrens' lives. A MUST READ!!!
