1 comments about Herron's Price Guide to Dolls.
- R. Lane Herron's price guide was one of my first "bibles" of doll identification. Clearly, the Blue Book series, originally by Jan Foulke, is the place to go for current market values, but Mr. Herron's guide is charming, enthusiastic and informative. His categories are not the standard ones in the field now... he includes paperdolls, for example... and it's not difficult to figure out where his own tastes in doll collecting lie. But, even after all these years, there are some dolls for which I have to go back to Herron's guide. There's also no arguing with his taste in dolls, which is refined and informed. It may not turn out to be the most-used volume in your doll reference library, but it's a valuable source with many black-and-white photos and covers some dolls that have been left out of more recent guides.

1 comments about Simply Kids - Cloth Dolls.
- I'm new to doll making, and was a little hesitant to tackle much more than a two-sided doll, but I'm glad I did! Instructions for these dolls are really understandable, with lots of line drawings. After I made my first one, she turned out so cute I had to made three more of them. All the pattern pieces are clearly marked. The dolls and their clothes are surprisingly easy to complete, and my daughters loved them! I'd highly recommend this pattern book to any doll maker - beginner or not.

1 comments about Lenci: Decorative and Extravagant.
- This is a great book for every Lenci doll collector. The author, Sabine Reinelt, researched her field meticulously and gives us a well documented historical background of the Lenci doll. It is a pleasure to read it and the photo documentation gives the collector the means to determine his or her own collection. This book is an invaluable tool and a must-have for the serious Lenci doll aficionado. The author is an internationally acclaimed researcher and sworn expert. I highly recommend this book; it helped me a great deal with my Lenci doll collection.

1 comments about Doll Collecting with Tina: Classic Dolls from 1860 to 1960.
- I have collected dolls for many years, but always shyed away from antique dolls. I don't know much about them and felt I wouldn't know if I was recieving a fair price. This book has helped me see some of the antique dolls I find appealing are not so out of my price range. Although I cannot afford to buy a single doll at $1000.00 I can still find great looking antique dolls from $200-$500. Magazine listings, books, websites, clubs and doll doctors are included and I feel these are references I can trust. This book has sparked a fire in me to aquire some new antique doll for my collection. It was a great start to a learning process.

4 comments about Toy Bop: Kid Classics of the 50's & 60's.
- Tom Frey is an authority on Toys from the boomer era.I bought his "Remco Movieland Drive-in from him in 1991 from Toy Shop magazine. His photography and commentary is priceless! If you grew up in the late fifties, early sixties and bugged your Mom and Dad for a "Great Garloo" or a "Remco Drive-in"(like I did),then definitely BUY this book!!You'll LOVE IT!!
- This is a great addition to any toy lovers library! There are quite a few toys shown here that I have not seen in previous books, and believe me I have a few. I thrilled at nice clean pictures of Video Village, the Talking Casper doll, Major Matt Mason, Johnny and Jane West. Lots of Marx Toys, reminiscent of Pennsylvania and my youth.
A time machine for anyone at or approaching 50!
- TOY BOP! This could be THE bible for toy enthusiasts and creators...each page gives reason to why millions flock to fleas and why I personally have chosen my profession. Toy Bop is a what's what map to the never forgotten gold in yer the great mind shaft of memory. And in Toy Bop, the gold never glimmered brighter. From the quirky haphazard classic toys spawned by Marvin Glass to adorable machine guns and one color Marx's, Toy Bop displays its wears like GE at a Worlds Fair long ago. Pick it up, waste away a few hours, and tell Odd-Ogg and King Zor that I sent you.-- Daniel Seifert ---Toy Designer Guy Oddzon/koosh/hasbro
- Tom Frey has put together the greatest book on toys I have ever seen. The book is not a price guide. Its a wonderful trip back in time. Back to the days when us kids had imagination. The pictures are outstanding. I have spoken with Tom and find him to be a very good source of information and you can tell from talking to him that he really loves his toys. If you were a child in the 50s to 60s and want a real trip down memory lane, then this is the book for you.
