5 comments about Liddle Kiddles.

  1. This book is still the best way to identify dolls and accessories. Wonderful pictures by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable collector. If you need to learn about Mattle Liddle Kiddles, you need this book.

  2. Ms. Langford has created a truly wonderful collector's book. The identification and information on each Kiddle doll is comprehensive and indispensable for valuation. Visually, it is a delight just to thumb through page after page of colour photos; a walk down memory lane at it's finest. Other 60's dolls with similar appeal are featured as well. Obviously, I can't say enough about this book.

  3. Ms. Langford has provided kiddle collectors with an invaluable tool for kiddle lovers and nostalgic doll lovers in general. This book provides the most complete coverage of all the kiddle dolls produced by Mattel during the 1960-1970s, and also provides information on other kiddle-related merchandise that was manufactured, such as lunchboxes, play houses, gift sets, and jewerly. It is jam crammed with excellent color photographs of each and every item, and even includes copies of those nostalgic pages out of the Sears Wishbook! This is a MUST for any kiddle lover. Now stop reading this review and BUY IT TODAY!!!

  4. I have had Liddle Kiddles carefully packed away for 30 years. Whenever I asked people if they remember them, they said no . . . now I know I was just asking the wrong people!

Much to my astonishment, I found Liddle Kiddles on an auction website, which led to a high recommendation of this book.

I simply cannot believe the thoroughness of the information, the amazing number of photographs, and the easy-to-read layout. This book would have been worth twice the price, no kidding.

I found out all of my Kiddles have names -- something I wasn't aware of. It also reminded me of ones that have long since been gone, and the nostalgia tour made me long for them, but in a happy memory sort of way.

Thank you to Ms. Langford for an outstanding effort, obviously a "labor of love." What a smile she brought to my face as I found out that I am definitely NOT the only one who remembers Liddle Kiddles!

  5. An excellent source for the identification of Liddle Kiddle dolls and all the accessories. Paris has written THE book as far as Kiddles are concerned. I have two and am going to buy a third--this book is invaluable to me.

3 comments about Fashion Doll Wardrobe: A Collection of Designs and Patterns.

  1. I got this when it was 1st released and was amazed at how horrible and amateur the patterns are. If you are new at sewing this may be a good start for basic, boxy outfits but don't expect to make anything really nice.
And to add insult, all the patterns shown in the book are not included. You must order additional patterns to complete the set for extra $$.
I kept the box to hold my own personally drafted patterns but couldn't even give the book/patterns away. I finally just donated it to a giveaway and I pity the person who received it.

  2. This set consists of two parts: (1) a book of photos of various fashion dolls wearing the author's designs, and (2) patterns for some of the outfits. The photos show outfits that are very boxy and amateurish. They reminded me of clothing I made for my dolls when I was ten. The few interesting outfits do not come with patterns. It seems that to get patterns for all the outfits in the book, one must purchase two additional sets of patterns; however, the box is large enough to hold all the patterns.

The only pluses I could find in this set were the thumbnail biographies of each of the dolls, and the chart of the dolls' vital statistics.

While the patterns are very basic, the directions are not, so this would not be good for a beginning sewer. The experienced sewer would not want to waste money on this.

Had I been able to look this over before I bought it, I would have saved some money.

  3. Personally I think this book is a rip off. It has lots of great designs, but the author only includes one category of design patterns. If you want the other two categories, you have to order and pay more cash for them seperately by sending a request to an address at the back of the book. I thought that all the design outfits that are in the book would have patterns, but it doesn't. I cannot believe that this author entices you with some fantastic clothes designs for the larger dolls and then says you have to dish out more money for two more sets of patterns listed as other catergories.

1 comments about Dolls and Accessories, 1910-1930 (Schiffer Book for Collectors).

  1. I own the 2 previous books written by this author, (on the subject of "DOLLS AND ACCESSORIES"). Well, the 2 previous books by Zillner were much more complete. I would, thus, rate this "Volume 3" lower than the previous Zillner volumes on this subject.

WHY? ... because when the author tried to tackle the doll Eras "from 1910-1930", I think she bit off more than she could chew.

In my opinion she should have broken down the doll Era (ie: 1910-1930) in two parts and thus added more information. Either that, or she could have made this "Volume 3" more complete. The doll Era from 1910-1930 simply needed more coverage than attempted by Zillner.

Zillner has a great writing style. Her photos are always wonderful. So my only complaint , as stated above, is that Zillner just needed to make this book a bit longer and she should have included more dolls and especially more accessories from this doll Era.
