1. This book is filled with gorgeous photos of exquisite dollhouse rooms. However, I would hardly call it a sourcebook, since it doesn't mention the sources for any of the items or materials. Had it contained directions for making the projects, and/or information on where to buy them, I would have loved it. Instead, I'll use the photos for inspiration -- but certainly not as a sourcebook, since no sources are mentioned.



2. If you are looking for inspriation, this is a wonderful book. There are many full page photos, all in color, of some of the finest miniatures ever produced. The chapters start with the house itself, then examines each major room found in most houses. This is a must-have coffee table book for all miniaturists.

1. If you are looking for a book that combines the history of teddy bears with lots of full color photos of individual bears that is also packed with a lot of interesting facts about each bear (and about bear making in general) then this is the book for you.

   I am not a serious teddy bear maker, but I enjoy looking at the myriad of photos of the antique bears and learning more about teddy bear history.

1. This is a comprehensive book about Girl Scout dolls that even has sections on paper dolls, stuffed animals, figurines and pins, all relating to the Girl Scouts organization. Included are doll sections on Camp Fire Girls and Blue Birds, International Girls Guides, as well as Girl Scout doll clothing. Even though I bought this book because I thought it was about looking ("scouting") for old dolls, and I don't really have a special interest in Girl Scout dolls, I found it interesting. It includes a history of the Girls Scouts and many beautiful photographs of different manufacturer's Girl Scout dedicated dolls and products from 1917 to 2002 with current values.

3 comments about The Ginny Doll Encyclopedia.

1. The title "Encyclopedia" suggests a book full of information, but the text of this book is sparse, disjointed, and occasionally downright weird. (It starts with the voyage of the Mayflower. Really. I could not possibly make that up.)
   
   The color photos of the dolls in the most recent edition are lovely, but a surprising number of the book's photos are of old advertising materials, newspaper clippings, promotional displays and even price lists, plus photos of the company's founding family. Far from an encyclopedia about the popular Ginny doll, the book reads as if someone published the company's scrapbook.



2. My review applies to the revised edition I just acquired, 2004 copyright. It features over 350 full-color photos and is very, very informative. I especially liked the fact that all Ginnys shown in this book are wearing their authentic costumes and accessories! This book has very elaborate descriptions and include pictures of many of the original boxes that the Ginnys came in. What more can I say? It's well worth the investment! Love this book!

1. Just what the novice barbie collector needs! I was pulling my hair out trying to tell one case from the next. This really helped me identify which of my cases were vintaigge and valuable. The book more than paid for it's self by the time I sold my first case.



2. This book is absolutely WONDERFUL! I purchased this book to use as a handbook referral guide when I was buying up vinyl Barbie cases on Ebay for my collection. It is absolutely the "bible" for Barbie vinyl cases: the pictures are invaluable, & the information given is gold. If you are a serious Barbie vinyl collector, you MUST have this book--I would highly recommend to any Barbie collector!



3. This book was extremely helpful in identifying all the vintage Barbie cases and the different variations. With the help of this book I was able to indentify and purchase several rare cases. I would recommend this book to all serious Barbie collectors! Many thanks to Connie Craig Kaplan for writing this book!



4. Kaplan uses just the right blend of pictures and commentary to make this book an absolute "must-have" for the Barbie doll case collector. From the very first case all the way through the generic early '70's cases, Kaplan has it covered. There are mentions of late '60's vinyl lunchboxes, and she even displays coin purses, pencil pouches, and room/structures that double as cases. It doesn't appear as though she missed a thing in the genre. Kaplan has created a superb and interesting book with realistic prices that will not only entertain and help the reader reminisce; but, it will also have you running to your attic to see if you still have that old case of yours in the corner. Terrific!

If you're looking for an inexpensive stocking stuffer for a fellow collector, check out the new paperback book, "Barbie Doll Trivia Trail," by mother and daughter team Cheryl Hanlon and Bonnie Speer. This little tome is incredibly well researched, mind boggling in its thoroughness, and so much fun to read that you'll want to order a copy for yourself. -Scott Arend, Barbie Bazaar.

I USE THIS BOOK AS MY BIBLE FOR TOYS BECAUSE IT CONTAINS NOT ONLY THE EASY TO GET PRICES, BUT ALSO THE HARD TO FIND TOY PRICES. THE ONLY DRAW BACK THAT I CAN SEE IS I WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE PICTURES. THIS IS A MUST FOR YOUR TOY COLLECTIBLE LIBRARY OF PRICE BOOKS.

1. This book is full of items the collector needs to know about. How many times have people (I know I have) passed up on great items to collect, simply because they were not sure that an item even existed, as a "real deal" collectible? This book has been well researched by the author and provides the collector with a great resource and guide, a true collector should not be without. A great addition to the library of any Beatles' collector or fan.



2. This 216 page book is loaded with more than 600 full color, large, clear photos of Beatles memorabilia covering their heydey from 1964 to 1968. The beautiful picture, price guide features: Early Beatles Memorabilia, Jewelry, Buttons, Yellow Submarine, Apple Studio, Yellow Submarine Celluloids, One of a Kind Items and more.
