- I work at a parent's day out program in the baby room. We care for children ages 6wks- 2 yrs old. And this book is a favorite. We keep having to replace it because the pages get worn! This little book is loved by each and every child that comes through our room!! I would highly recommend it!!!

5 comments about Working Dogs: Tales from Animal Planet's K-9 to 5 World.
- This book was a wonderful, wonderful publication. It helps to show how canines are working in the world of humans, helping us to become well, to stay safe in the world, etc. This is the kind of story that should make headlines in newspapers, but rarely does. These dogs and the people who help them/handle them/love them SHOULD be spotlighted!
As for the reviewer who felt that this book added nothing because another book like it was published before, I say that there are NEVER enough books out there like this. I loved reading these stories, just as I did in the other book. I enjoyed watching the stories on Animal Planet, as well. People who appreciate *working* dogs would never be able to get enough of these stories. :)
- Lots of fun dogs doing lots of interesting things. We liked the bowling dog and the singing dog best.
- This book is a mediocre (...) book. (There is another book) of the exact same title pulished a year or so ago, "Working Dogs" by C. Owens. I found the original much more entertaining.
- I was looking for a book for my 5-year old nephew - who is a dog nut - when I stumbled across Working Dogs. After getting it and reading some of the stories to him, I got a second copy for myself. The story and pictures are fabulous and the story of Wheelie Willy brought tears to our eyes.
- The book just popped out at me and I had to get a copy. Absolutely adorable! It really does make you realize what great hearts and minds dogs have. Great writing and photography too!

1 comments about Bow Wow Yoga.
- the book is very cute, but doesn't have much practical value. It was advertised to be instructional and so I thought it would have some tips on using yoga-like stretches to help your dog as well as give training tips. Instead it takes quite a few typical dog positions and makes up fake yoga sounding names for them. I enjoyed it for it's entertainment value, but this is not an instructional book.

4 comments about Bone Appetit!: Gourmet Cooking for Your Dog.
- This book has many recipies but it's very comparable to the Three Dog's Bakery Cookbook. Many of the recipies I probably wouldn't use due to the special ingredients, time, preparation, etc. It's good if you really, really pamper your dog. (My dog likes biscuits). Some people might worry about these types of treats or meals causing problems with dogs wanting to eat from your dinner table.
- I suppose I could cook for my dogs on a regular basis, but I don't. This book has been extremely valuable to me, though, when I have a dog who has been very sick or through surgery and is refusing the regular fare. In such case I can always find a recipe here to tempt the appetite and bring them back from the edge. I credit the toasted sardine and cheese sandwich for saving Mac (gangrenous spot on the liver in 1991); and right now Kerby (cancer diagnosis and amputee) is willing to eat the gizzard and egg pie (I have several others marked, like potato and bacon stuffed hotdogs). The recipes are simple and economical, and include gravies, soups, and breakfasts, as well as special needs diets. The earlier review about onions is well noted, but I'm not sure that was anything people knew about when this book first came out. I would think the other review is bogus.
For those who may be at a loss at how to deal with post-surgical or disease related anorexia, I highly recommend this book.
- Hot Diggity Dog! The recipes in this book are downright delicious! My two favorites are the Cowhide Fajitas and the Hazelnut Squirrel Surprise (surprise - the squirrel is STILL ALIVE!) I don't have a dog but if you want to know the truth, these recipes are great for any mammal - including apes, dolphins and humans. My kids absolutely love the Puppy Poundcakes and the Dog Poop Dumplings are a Passover favorite. Four paws up for Suzan and Bunny! They've created the world's tastiest cookbook for dogs, Chupacabras, Sasquatches, Morlocks and yes... even Jeff Goldblum. Woof! Woof!
- Though likely well intentioned - the recipes for this book are not well researched. The author suggests that onions be used - in many recipes - but, according to my vet, onions can be deadly to dogs!! Other than onions - there are many recipes that suggest loads of cheese... there are great recipes to modify - but, unless you are acutely aware of dog health issues and needs, this book may not be as helpful as you would like.

5 comments about Kathy Santo's Dog Sense.
- This book was good if you have never worked with dogs before. I was looking for something more advanced.
- I found this book incredibly helpful as a novice pet owner of a stubborn new puppy. The book is written with the necessary instructions for training, but also with humor to keep you interested and engaged. The book is so entertaining, I have even recommended it to friends who do not even own pets.
- We have the most adorable golden retriever, Jake. However, Jake is rambunctious and without Kathy Santo's Dog Sense, he would still be tackling kids behind the knees in over excited play.
Dog Sense makes sense...and is a MUST for any new dog owner or an owner of a new dog that has a mind of his/her own...thank you Kathy.

- Kathy Santo's book is sure to be a helpful aid to anyone with a dog and if you're considering adding that adorable puppy to your family, bring the book home first! The book is written clearly & with some humor and the child that says "Please can we have a dog,I'll take care of it" will gain much knowledge from this book as well.
I'm happy to say that we've taken some of Kathy's suggestions and applied them in training our Ragdoll cats and our ferret with great success too:)
I was fortunate enough to buy a few autographed books and these will be given as holiday gifts to a few friends with "unmannered dogs" along with some home made dog treats
Happy Reading...
- This very informative book certainly helped me train my golden puppy--when all other attempts failed. The book is concise, informative and written with a delightful sense of humor. It would have been so much easier training over the years had I known about Kathy Santo's technique. Everything she says makes so much sense--and is applicable to all dogs. I'm giving the book to all my "dog loving" friends for an X-mas present this year. Dog Sense certainly makes sense!

2 comments about Flat-Coated Retrievers Today.
- This book helped prepare for the new experience of owning a Flat Coated Retriever. The book was very helpful, and after four years I still refer to it. This book also has many wonderful photos of these beautiful dogs. A great choice of any Flat Coat owner.
- Highlights this versatile, dynamic breed as a top-class gun dog, popular show dog, and affectionate companion animal. Great photos. 160 pp. / 60 photos / HWL-1996
