4 comments about The Healing Touch for Dogs: The Proven Massage Program for Dogs, Revised Edition.
- I have learned how to massage or touch my dog in so many ways, which I didn't realize there was a right way or wrong. The information was so important to learn about touching her body and knowing the correct way of doing so. I'm so glad I ordered this book. And I know my dog is, too.
- Never received this item. Very bad seller. No communication whatsoever. Save your money!
- This is a great book with wonderful massage therapy for dogs and it gets specific to the problems the dog is having. It is also very easy to read and understand. I have not read it all, but did read the parts I needed right away and it helped a lot. A dog who had not been walking for several weeks is now able to walk again. I won't say it is all due to the therapy, but it certainly did contribute a lot. Well worth having in your book collection if you own dogs.
- My beagle suffers from hip dysplasia and arthritis. The medication the vet prescribed helped, but my dog was still in a lot of pain. Out of desperation I decided to check out books on dog message and canine acupressure. The techniques outlined in this book worked miracles. My dog is now able to move with greater ease and with a lot less pain; in fact, at times he has the energy and stamina of a puppy again. I highly recommend this book for any one who can't sit back and watch a loved one suffer. It is a common sense, easy-to-understand approach to canine health.

5 comments about The Dog Bible: Everything Your Dog Wants You to Know.
- We love this book! It is truly a necessary resource book for everything dog. It should be given to everyone who is a dog owner or is thinking of becoming one. Easy to read and understand, too. I gave a copy to my petsitter and she is recommending it to all of her clients as well. Great book!!!
- As a child, I grew up in a household that always had dogs. However, growing up with dogs and having one of your own is a completely different story! After recently getting a puppy, I found I was calling home almost every day with questions for my parents about my pup's progression until I heard about this book. The Dog Bible is fantastic!! It has solutions or recommendations for almost any dog related question you can throw at it. I've been pleasantly surprised that whenever I've gone seeking an answer, the book has magically had it- it's like it reads my mind! While I was skeptical at first, as most dog books tend to be for the uber-beginner, this book is written with even an experienced handler in mind. It has great advice for both city and dogs that live in the suburbs. All in all, this is must-have for any one with a dog!
- This book does truly have answers to practically every conceivable question you could have about your dog. It has been a great help for us. We have two dogs, love both dearly, and so this book helps alleviate a lot of concern that we might have about what to do for or with our dogs under every circumstance immaginable. It is an indespensible tool for the dog lover/owner!
- This is a wonderful book for dog owners. It is chockful of practical advice from nutrition, health, training...basically every aspect of dog owner ship.
And her radio show DOgtalkthe radio show on wliu and on podcast truly rocks.
- I LOVE the Dog Bible. It actually is a means to calm down, get control of our human emotions and realize that the stress we are feeling is normal; that our pets are our kids; that we need to love them & realize that WE must learn to communicate BETTER. Bless the author for this fabulous insight into man's best friend.

4 comments about PuppyPerfect: The user-friendly guide to puppy parenting (Howell Dog Book of Distinction).
- I am not a professional dog trainer but found this book this book to be extremely helpful in dealing with specific behavioral issues I was having with my 15 week golden-doodle. The book as a whole is very good and the index leading to specific problems (such as "mounting") were invaluable. There are alot of books out there, but this one is head and shoulders above the rest.
- What a great book. Loads of information on choosing a puppy and what to do with it after. Loads of good training information. I recommend this book for anyone who is considering a puppy or have a new puppy in the home
- As a total novice in the dog owning/training department I read every dog book I could get my hands on before our puppy came home. A lot of those books were good, but focused on house/obedience training an older puppy (4+ months). We were getting our puppy at 7 weeks and I just wasn't sure what I should be doing at this early stage. This book walks you through all of your puppy's ages starting at 8 weeks and gives you weekly projects to start working on, which I found most helpful. I now know what I can reasonably expect of such a young pup and feel that while my puppy won't learn it all right away at least I'm not sending us down the wrong path from the very beginning. I felt comfortable with the author's teaching style (calm, fun, easy-going, but authoritive) and relieved to know that it's ok to get down on the floor and roll around with your new puppy without losing your puppy's respect as her leader (as some books implied would happen). I would definitely recommend this book to anyone getting a new puppy.
- I thought I had it all in "The Dog Bible" but this is now THE PUPPY BOOK I am going to be recommending. There are methods and ideas here that are uniquely Sarah Hodgson's and she has such a logical, kind and fun way of helping you to train your pup that you will look forward to having an active part in raising a civilized dog! This is a great gift for those friends who are first time puppy owners...you'll be doing them AND yourself a favor (their puppies won't make your life miserable!)

5 comments about It's a Dog's Life...but It's Your Carpet: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Your Four-Legged Friend.
- This book makes a great gift for your dog loving friends! It's a funny, light and informative read. Dr. Lee gives plenty of advice and offers a compassionate and caring opinion, interspersed with lots of wit and sarcasm.
- Lots of people have mentioned how funny this book is -- rather than echo those comments, I'll mention how touching and heart warming the book is too. The author is clearly an expert and is very funny, but the thing that stood out the most for me is how deeply she cares about our 4-legged friends.
The author provides sage advice on how to best care for our dogs, maximize their quality of life, and even discusses the best options for when it is time to say goodbye. This book is a fantastic tribute to the slobering little buggers that bring joy to ours lives like nothing else in the world. Bravo Dr. Lee! Can't wait for more from you!
- This book is funny and informative! It covers serious and not so serious questions with a sense of humor and some interesting facts. I couldn't put it down!
- It's a Dog's LifeIt's a Dog's Life...but It's Your Carpet: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Your Four-Legged Friend
A fabulous book full of humor and great information! Dr. Lee covers a lot of material left out of most books. I found myself laughing out loud reading this informative and entertaining book. A must read! J.Pantaleo
- "I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
A powerhouse. A tour de truth.
I laughed. I cried. I lost 15 pounds!
A must buy!"

5 comments about Training Your Beagle (Training Your Dog Series).
- This is an amazing book. In a short time you can change your beagle behavior. But you need patience and a lot of love for yor Beagle.
- This book is very helpful in learning about Beagles. Buy the book before the puppy. Information was very helpful in training my puppies.
- this book definately helped me to understand my pup. i was able to teach him to shake in just one ten minute session. but it does lack on more extensive tricks and training. but i love the different games it recommends.
- This book started off to be very helpful, but then we don't plan on showing our beagle, so a lot of the chapters weren't geared for our purposes. But again, this is just our opinion. Good reading.
- This book has been an absolute Godsend! We just got Baxter 3 and 1/2 weeks ago, he's now almost 12 weeks old and neither myself or my husband have had a dog since we were children. So we were clueless!
We're doing everything the author says to do regarding housetraining, crate training, etc. and it is working wonderfully. We purchased a few other books as well, but this one is proving to be the most helpful by far.
Kristine Kraeuter is the Beagle Pro and other reviews that I read about this book prompted me to buy it and I am elated I did.
Thank you so much! If anyone who is considering a Beagle puppy, this book is for you!

5 comments about Homeopathic Care for Cats and Dogs: Small Doses for Small Animals.
- For someone who is just learning about homeopathy in general, this book not only gave me a good introductory understanding of homeopathy overall for pets and people, but also gave me some great tips and helpful knowledge that I was able to put to use right away with my sick cat. I was able to find the best way to treat my cat with homeopathy with the help of this book and my vet.
- I'm not wild about this book. While I'm sure there's some good information in here, I haven't found it yet. What I have found are opinions that I find difficult to swallow.
For example:
Don't vaccinate your pets. Hmm. I understand there might be reasons to stay away from vaccinating pets, as there are for not vaccinating children. However, I also understand that if I want to board my dog, or take him to the local dog park, or take him to the groomer, or have my vet come within ten feet of him, I need some evidence that this dog has, in fact, been vaccinated. I don't see a practical way around this in this book.
He says vaccinations weaken the species by allowing weaker animals to survive. My neutered dogs aren't contributing to the gene pool anyway, so I don't understand this argument.
Then there's the thing about feeding your dog only raw meat, because dogs in the wild don't have someone cooking for them. Okay, fine. Dogs in the wild don't have veterinarians, nor do they sleep on a human's couch. If we're going to take this thought to its logical conclusion, we shouldn't have pets at all. And if we should have pets, why on earth would I want to risk their getting infected with E. coli? Or does this raw meat thing assume that I kill it myself rather than buy it?
He says that a lot of meanness in dogs comes from the rabies vaccine. He cites no studies, offers no data, just says that from what he's seen, this is true. I'm sure I don't see anywhere near as many dogs as the author, but come on, I have yet to see a dog made mean by vaccines. Show me a reproducible study.
There may be some valuable information in this book, but it's colored by these unsupported "facts", so it's hard to tell what's good information and what's not. There are better books on the subject. Buy one of them.
- It's good for reference. A little difficult to self diagnois your pet and not always easy to find the treatment for a specific problem in the book.
- AFTER REVIEWING OTHER BOOKS & BUYING ANOTHER BOOK (that was poorly written) I WAS RELIEVED TO READ THIS. HOMEOPATHIC CARE FOR CATS & DOGS GETS RIGHT TO THE HEART OF THE MATTER. INDEX IS GREAT, NICE LISTING OF HOMEOPATHIC SUPPLIERS THERE PHONE, FAX & WEB SITES ( I had wondered where to get supplies but that answered it for me.) YOU ONLY RECEIVE NEEDED INFORMATION. NICE GUIDE FOLLOWS WITH EASY TO FIND REMEDIES. INCLUDES INFO ON HOW TO DECIDE YOUR ANIMAL NEEDS HOMEOPATHY OR IS IT TIME TO SEE THE VETERINARIAN. IT'S NICE TO KNOW YOUR LIMITS. I PROMISE YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK.
- I purchased this book along with 3 others to educate myself as to various diets and medical care of my pets. I found this one so far to list anything about heartworms in cats. I live in Oklahoma and we have a lot of mosquitoes and have had 2 dogs that contracted heartworm but we've never had a cat contract it and we've had cats live to be 14, 16, and 20 years. I had my suspicions about the necessity of giving heartworm medication to a cat and Dr. Hamilton pretty well answered my questions about it in two sentences on page 332, "This is a serious disease that primarily affects dogs (it is rare in cats, despite claims by the preventive manufacturers)." and, "I do not recommend their use (preventives) in cats, as the incidence does not warrant the drug use in my opinion." Overall, I found it's a very professional yet understandable book for those of us who wish to take care of our beloved pets through more natural means.

5 comments about Just Gus: A Rescued Dog and the Woman He Loved.
- Just Gus is basically a picture book for adults. A heavy picture book that's short but powerful. You can read it in 15 minutes but it'll stay with you for long after that. It's the story of a rescued stray and the love he brings to a woman in her final days. Read it and pass it on.
- This was a nice read but was disappointed it was not more story than pictures. Too high a price for no more story.
- This book, although sad, makes you feel so good. The devoted love an an unwanted dog helps a dying woman to get through her last two years of her battle with cancer. Written well and with photographs.
- I absolutely loved this book. It was a quick read, but very moving. Another perfect example of how therapeutic and healing having an animal in your life can be. Bravo!!
- This was a very sweet, compelling story. But I read the book in a metter of 20 minutes, way too short! My fault for not reviewing the number of pages.

5 comments about Gun Dog: Revolutionary Rapid Training Method.
- Here is another book that was written too many years ago and needs to be updated. The rapid training pretty much come from breaking your dogs spirit to get him to do what you want. Bird dog discipline is a must but this guys techniques are poor in general and will not make it fun for the dog. He makes the dog more of a tool than a hunting companion. Thumbs down
- R. A. Wolters' books are so much fun to read, and most of the information is correct and useful. Actually, it is all useful. I recommend this and his other books for anyone preparing to get a dog (hunting or otherwise).
I like the 7 week pup thing personally, but the basis of Wolters' assertions on this matter may be a little dogmatic and are disputed by some experts and researchers. I looked into the study that he uses for this assertion in all of his books, and it seems that he misinterpreted the data and came to a rash decision. I believe getting a pup at exactly 49 days is a good idea, but it is not as necessary as Wolters would indicate.
- It is no news that this is one of the best training books for upland game that has ever been written. You may disagree with Wolters but you can never say his methods dont work. This is my number one resource for training my dogs.
- Succinct, easy instructional read that works. I am 2 weeks in to training a new pup via the book and he is responding positively. It had been 13 years since doing this and the book is helping us both.
- Learn the phases your dog goes through as he ages, and then learn how to use those phases to your own advantage in your training.

5 comments about The Original Dog Bible: The Definitive Source to All Things Dog.
- This book is a excellent souce of information about our canine friends. If you love dogs, and need information regarding their health, and their care, then this a book for you. It has a wealth of "how to's" about everything for our pets.
I recommend this book highly!!
- Whether you own a pure-bred dog, a designer breed, or a rescued pooch this book is for you.
An encyclopedic resource on all things dog; everything from training and behavior tips, over 50 fun activities to enjoy with your dog, grooming helps, over 100 health remedies, pages of emergency solutions, and 50 career profiles with dogs.
There are profiles of over 250 breeds from every place imaginable; from the USA to Burkina Faso. Big dogs, small dogs, hunting, herding, feral, lap, working, show, and companion dogs. They are all in this book.
I've spent hours just leafing through this book a page at a time marveling at the wonders of this creation of God; the diversity of breeds, and their characteristics.
The Dog Bible will bring hours of enjoyment and is highly recommended to the dog lover, and dog owner.
- This is the worst dog book I have ever owned. I've been breeding and showing dogs for 20 years. I picked this book up and thought it might make a good general reference book. I was so disappointed when I got home. I felt like half of the material in it came directly from the Humane Society's web site. Much of the information in the book, which should be factual, is half-researched opinion. I can find better information than this on the Internet. The book hasn't been particularly well proofed or edited, either. Very disappointed.
- This book has everything about dogs. EVERYTHING. Breeds, how to raise a puppy, how to treat a sick dog and such as that. It even has little info boxes throughuot the whole book. It even has 101 activities you can do with your dog. It even has over 200 breeds of dog in the breed section. It even has EVERYTHING. A VERY good resource!
- I am a new dog owner, never had any experience with any dog ever. So naturally I was a tad uninformed about the subject. This book changed all that. This book is an incredible resource. It covers every conceivable thing about dogs. From A to Z. Plenty of color pictures and charts. This is a great resource. So good it's worth it's weight in gold, to me at least. I learned so much. I took the time to read the whole dang thing--iyt took a while--and I know I will return back to it in the future as I need to. This is a great reference if you know nothing about dogs. You won't be disappointed.
