2 comments about Technique: Target Training for a Fat-Free Body.

  1. I have this book and think it shows you exactly how to work out the entire body. It gives a 16 week balanced program and has pictures about every 4 pages. It is black and white and a hard back.

  2. I PURCHASED THIS BOOK AT A SECOND HAND BOOK STORE BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD ABOUT TONY LITTLE. I THINK THE BOOK/INFORMATION IS VALUABLE AND I PLAN ON GOING ON THE PROGRAM TOMORROW. THE ONLY THING I WISHED THE BOOK HAD, WAS, THE DIETS OF THE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE IN THE BOOK. THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE BOOK WHO HAVE LOST TONS OF WEIGHT , BUT THEY LIST THAT THEY FOLLOWED A FAT FREE PROGRAM., WELL, THAT TELLS ME NOTHING ABOUT THE CALORIES THAT THEY CONSUMED. TONY LITTLE LISTS SEVERAL DIET PLANS IN THE BACK OF THE BOOK, BUT I WOULD LIKED TO HAVE HEARD FROM THE ACTUAL PEOPLE WHO FOLLOWED THE PLAN. OTHERWISE, IT WAS A GREAT BOOK FROM A GREAT MOTIVATIONAL MAN.

4 comments about The Denny's Story: How a Company in Crisis Resurrected Its Good Name.

  1. This is a brand new book as mentioned by the seller but the shipping took longer and the seller didn't send me any e-mail regarding the status of the shipment.

  2. This is a great book if your into companies restructuring, or rebuilding.
I always feel the Denny's chain was sort of put through its paces unjustfully. I worked for Denny's off, & on through the eighties, and ninties. I feel that the book does well with the issues that face a dining icon.
Having said this I also feel that it could well be now if your white its harder at Denny's. The Racial issue was a bad omen for the DFO folks.
At one time I was made ineligible for rehire, (may still be) at the corporate stores. Because I stood up for myself this made Denny's make me a blacklisted employee. Have worked for several franchises since. I was treated much better at the franchises than I ever was in the company locations.
The rebuilding of its image has come with a price. Many unknowing people who tout bad things for Denny's should realize that it was one of the first chains to let all walks of life come in and become an employee at different levels. It was also one of the first to let African Americans become more in the front of the house, ie host(ess), waiter(ess).
The book deals with its color diversity quite well --- it does however miss the boat on its other diversities. Meaning contributions to the brand by the GLBT community.
Denny's has closed many locations in my area not because of the issues mentioned in the book. Many are grossly mismanaged, and have had trouble with some franchisees going under.
This is a good book for a read on some of the behind-the-scenes goings on at The Grand Slam Palace. Like most books its good also to read between the lines.

  3. In the early 1990s, the Denny's Restaurant chain was faced with charges of racial discrimination that severely damaged its image. African-American customers were denied service or asked to prepay before eating. When, in 1994, Denny's settled two class-action lawsuits for US$54 million, a permanent shadow had been cast in its doorway.

Then, CEO Jim Adamson came on board. He kept the doors open and, in time, opened the minds of employees to a new way of doing business. He made inclusiveness and diversity central to the company culture. Now, every employee-from waiters to managers-receives specific training that emphasises respect for differences among people. What it took to turn the company around was hours and hours of hard work; thoughtful, innovative, and proactive programs; the willingness to lead and take risks; and most of all, an absolute commitment to do the right thing. Eventually, Fortune magazine ranked Denny's among the top ten companies for minorities in America.

The Denny's Story is the real-life account of how the company pulled itself out of a public relations nightmare and earned back the trust of its customers. Adamson explains the beliefs and strategies necessary for changing the heart of an organisation in serious distress that can be applied to any business. He provides an honest blueprint for dealing with crisis, arming the reader with the tools needed to alter management thinking, build a strong sense of unity, and keep employees happy in the process. Enlightening and instructive, The Denny's Story is a remarkable example of how teamwork, fairness, and keeping the customer satisfied will protect the good name of your company during any crisis you may face in the future.

Since 1995, Jim Adamson has been the chairman and CEO of Advantica, the parent company of Denny's restaurant. Formerly, he was CEO of Burger King. Robert McNatt is an editor of Business Week and a former reporter for Reuters. Rosemary Bray McNatt is an author who has previously worked as editor for the New York Times Book Review.

3 comments about Ersatz in the Confederacy: Shortages and Substitutes on the Southern Homefront (Southern Classics Series).

  1. A refreshing look at a war that has been written about ad nauseum. I AM a Civil War Historian and this book is the book that changed the way the war was studied. Before this book, it was all battles and politics and military. This book opened up studies of the homefront and women's roles in the war.

The book is well written and incredibly researched. It's objective and draws definite conclusions about its subject matter. This was also a new method for historians of Massey's era (1940's).

If you have an interest in the war or women's history-- this book is a must have, must read.

  2. The author does a very good job of bringing out the causes and effects of shortages in the southern states. I would recommend to reenactors or anyone who enjoyes history.

  3. I love reading about Southerners during the Civil War and their lifestyles and this book filled a void. I was afraid it would be really hard to read and very clinical but Ms. Massey made the subject entertaining as well as enlightening. She has a great style for a history and social studies writer.

2 comments about Make A Fortune Buying & Selling Gold Coins! BUY Specific Gold Coins, SIX Gold Coin Rules, When To SELL Your Gold! Mission-Surf.

  1. These reviews were taken from another website to show that this is really a good book.

    Bottom Line:
"How To Make A Fortune Buying And Selling Gold Coins" gives a good history of gold trading, a good comparison of gold vs gold coins. At 35 pages, it's quick and educational ready that just might increase your wealth.
    Reviewer: Kosta Efstathiou

I didn't have the slightest intention to buy and sell gold coins prior to reading this e-book, but the title got me curious nonetheless. I'm not entirely sure if this is indeed the authoritative guide to investing in gold coins, but the whole thing really was rather interesting and educational, and it did make a lot of valid points. Even if you're clueless about the topic, you can easily follow what it is all about since he whole e-book is very simple and easy to understand anyway, despite the occasional occurrence of typographical errors. However, it also makes a good guide if you want to know what kind of coins to invest in. A very entertaining e-book, this one, and sure to pull in curious beginners to this investment strategy. I especially like how this has a disclaimer reminding the reader to consult professionals first before going through with such an undertaking.
    Reviewer: Lynn Lopez

This e-book is fascinating in that it makes you realize that there is potential in buying and selling gold coins and other things made of gold is still profitable. It gives a short background of gold trade, then proceeds to tell you how and why you would profit from investing in gold yourself.

But it's not just ordinary gold, it's gold coins that the author emphasizes, because it's not just gold that some people want to pay for. Oftentimes, it's the coins themselves they want. And to expand that, there are only some coins that people want, because of the percentage of gold in them.

The e-book also states that there is a growing need for gold in the market, because paper money is depreciating. With investing in gold, you not only secure profits, you also secure your finances.

Honestly, I am skeptical at the pitch that gold will be your road to riches, but I do believe that it is sensible to invest in it, because metal trade has always been valuable. I think this e-book could prove useful, nonetheless.
    Reviewer: Lorie Therese Locara

  2. Hopeless report. I would have urged for a refund. Don't spoil your reputation; eliminate such stuff from your domain.

5 comments about Stock Market Investing (Made E-Z Guides).

  1. I am in a women's investment group and we used Ms. King's book as a textbook--it was VERY HELPFUL. I would recommend it highly. After working through the book, we invited her to speak to our investment group (she lives about 150 miles from us). She came and we learned even more through her lecture.
She will return and give us more information and even do a book signing.

  2. This text is a Best Best for investment clubs and individuals who want a clear understanding of stock market investing. My investment group has read several other texts on investing but this one gets our vote as being the most user-friendly and informative of the bunch. We like it so much that it has become a regular part of our Club agenda.

  3. I have read a good number of books on investing and Nancy King's book is one of the best. It is well laid out and easy to understand. It is for new individual investors as well as those of us who have been doing this for a little while. I found the information on how the New York Stock Exchange works very interesting. I never knew exactly what happens after I place a buy or sell order - the author explains the whole process. I am ordering a couple more of Nancy King's book to give as gifts to friends who are interested in investing.

  4. A book which quickly became one of my all-time favorites is Stock Market Investing Made E-Z by Nancy B. King. I bought it last October just as I was, finally, determined to invest in the stock market. (I say "finally" because I graduated from high school 25 years ago.) The book presents all aspects of buying and selling stocks in easy-to-comprehend, bite-sized paragraphs. After reading it, I opened an account with an on-line brokerage and got started early this year..certainly a difficult time for the market, as we all know. But I applied what I had read and did my homework nightly by reading the business sections of a couple of newspapers and various financial websites, and the first-quarter's turbulence and my beginner's exhuberance notwithstanding, I am doing well in the market. And my 401-K is doing much better because I am managing it instead of merely contributing to it. Also, I have taught a couple of friends how to get into the stock market and manage their own retirement accounts. Certainly, this book has motivated me to invest more and consume less. Thanks, Nancy, your book has enriched my life.

  5. Nancy King has done it. I have been looking for an investment book that I could understand and really get some information that I could use. This is the one!!! Now I can investment my money with confidence. Thanks Nancy!

4 comments about Seasonality: Systems, Strategies, and Signals (Wiley Trading).

  1. Most seasonal trading is already factored into the price, right before the season starts. Something like 2 out of 10 seasonal trades work nowadays. Technical Analysis has eliminated many of the seasonal signals.

In fact it is prohibited by the National Futures Association for brokers to even discuss or promote on the basis of seasonal trading. That says a lot to me.

In the past 11 years I have been a futures broker, futures investor, and author of several futures books and I tell all of my clients not to rely on seasonal trades. And if they do follow seasonal trades use tight stops for when the market goes against you.

  2. I was expecting alot more from someone referred to as the foremost authority on seasonality in the futures markets. While I give Jake alot of credit for bringing greater visibility to seasonal trading strategies through his earlier research from the late 70s on, this book was somewhat of a disappointment. My first concern is that a large portion of his data modeling is based off of cash market data. While this often allows one a much greater data pool to tap which in turn can assist in lending statistical significance to apparent patterns, I have to question the validity of this approach since as most traders know, futures prices often diverge significantly from those of the cash market. There are no clear trading rules elucidated for particular seasonals, and individual contract months are not well touched on. In addition, while technical filters are mentioned, there is no clear integration with seasonals. For anyone actually interested in trading seasonals with very clear rules spelled out with specific seasonals based on individual contract months, I would highly recommend John Momsen's "UltraReliable Seasonal Trades." While I haven't traded Momsen's methods long enough to draw a 100% conclusion, I've already made significant profits with his systems. This text didn't add enough workable knowledge to warrant the price IMHO. It does however provide some decent info on performing your own seasonal research by data mining...

  3. Mostly concerned with the commodities and futures markets. Interesting, lots of charts and tables, but the only information on stocks is a table on page 87 showing that from Jan 1897 to Dec 1983 the Dow Jones Industrial Average posted a gain 68.1% of the time the day before an important holiday and 52.2% of the time the day after. Good to know. It was something I had already recognized, but knowing that the day before is significantly better than the day after is worth while. Also Monday is the worse day of the week for stock prices. There's even a book entitled Don't Sell Stocks on Monday(1986) by Yale Hirsch.

  4. Jake Bernstein is the foremost authority on seasonality and this book clearly demonstrates the power of this approach. It is also an easy read for the beginning trader.

5 comments about Trading Spreads and Seasonals.

  1. Unfortunately nothing new at all: Bollinger Bands, RSI and typical chart patterns. Unprofessional lay out, a lot of unused space and many peripatetic explanations. Maybe some ideas for absolute beginners. I will short this book and rather spend the money on a new Harry Potter novel.

  2. I think Joe did an excellent job of describing what seasonal/seasonal spreads are, but gave me little in the way of new ideas for trading them, or new research into spreads that really work. Most traders would be much better off with a subscription to Moore Research if they already know they would like to trade futures in this manner.

  3. "Secrets!"
If you have gotten this far by choice or accident, you have stumbled onto the most profitable way to make a living with the least amount of margin in the field of speculation.

Ross' refers to seasonal spreads as a "closely guarded secret." Many books about trading assume that you are starting out with many thousands of dollars earned somewhere else.

This little known facet of the commodities market is ideal for people who have a steady income and want to earn a second income trading a small amount of capital.

The key here is supplemental income. You have to find a way to keep your day-to-day needs for income separate from your program of wealth building. You have to find a way to keep your spending from increasing just because you are making a bundle trading. Seasonal Spreads are how many new traders build up a large trading account in a short time, starting with a hardly any capital in the commodities market.

In high school you should have become familiar with the "Ten Multiples." Let me refresh your memory. Mony grows geometrically. How much do you have when you double one thousand dollars ten times?

    1. 2,000.00
    2. 4,000.00
    3. 8,000.00 etc.

If you can save $20.00 a week and you will have that first thousand dollars in less than a year.

Now the thing is this. People often talk about a Million dollars as being a lot of Mony. But really, do the math. Let's see what the flow-of-sums returns.

How much income per week will you have if you had one million dollars invested (not in spreads)?

You will find that you can easily exceed a Millionaire's income with a small amount of trading capital, perpetually in seasonal spreads.

Ok what is the minimum trail to your first successful trade. At a minimum

    1. "Reminiscences of a stock Operator," "Reminiscences," gets into the details of Speculation and details you must thoroughly understand if you are considering making a living Speculating in securities.

    2. "Ross's Spreads and Seasonals," for in-depth technical analysis and trading tactics.

With these tools, You should soon be able to enter and exit your first seasonal spread at a profit.

  4. Joe introduces filters and how to use technical indicators. You should update to Lane's %D Stochastics. This is a trading manual not a book about trading.

  5. Here is the thing that makes Ross's book particularly outstanding. When we trade spreads, the only data we can use is the closing price. The exchanges do not report the intraday ranges of spreads.

Ross's book is the best one for explaining how to use close only charts for trading. Its very simple, cuts out tons of useless noise many indicators thrive on.

Ross gives a good introduction to this high profit, low risk Speculation arena.

Ross explains how to use an indicator to filter spread trades, You may find that Stochastics works better. Ross principles are the same.

Assuming you did your homework with Reminiscences, Ross's book and some up to date seasonal Spread charts is all you need to make your first winning trade.

Ross offers an easy-to-read guide teaching traders how to use historically consistent trading patterns to capitalize on the opportunities offered by seasonal spread trading.

Joe covers how to find trades, filter them using technical indicators, how to place orders and manage your spread trade after entry.

When you make some profits, read the rest of the available spread books. Buy books when you are winning!
