5 comments about Kid's Statehood Quarters Collectors Folder: With Information on Collecting Other Cool Coins.
- A little over a year ago, my then 5 year old son decided he'd like to collect the state quarters. I did a search on Amazon & found this item for him.
This has been a great purchase. What you get is the coin folder & a small book. The book gives details about each state. The information is clear & concise. It's just enough to hold the interest of a little kid.
This coin collection is one of my son Patrick's most prized possessions. He has diligently searched through change, looking for whichever quarters he's needed. He has refined his reading skills sounding out the states' names as he looks for where each quarter belongs in the folder. He has waited in anxious anticipation for new quarters to be released.
We haven't had trouble getting the quarters into their places in the folder. It just takes a firm, straight push. Once they're in, they're not coming out without a good deal of effort.
I would recommend this item. This, along with a roll of random quarters would make a really good, unique birthday party gift for any kid, aged 4-12.
- My 7 yr old wanted to start a coin collection. I was looking for something inexpensive, yet informative to get started. This set met both those requirements. My child loves it and has been quickly filling in slots with state quarters. The folder is also small enough to store anywhere and can be transported easily to school, etc. when my child wants to show friends the collection. The booklet gives a bit of information about each state and also information concerning coin collecting, i.e. how to care for your coins and other cool coins available to collect. I would recommend this to family or friends.
- My kids love this folder. Yes the quarters are a little difficult to get in, but i rather have them stay then fall out. They love the facts book it comes with. It is a great buy for the money. i have already bought 4 and will probably buy extras for gifts.
- We love these books. We have them for our older children and are ordering 2 more for our little ones. True it is not easy to ge the quarters in, but no need to use tools and the upside is that they don't fall out. We are pleased.
- Folders arrived looking a bit beat up, like they had been in stock too long. Spaces are too small--impossible to put in coins without using a hammer. Positive notes--kids like collecting the quarters and the booklet that comes with the folder is quite informative.

4 comments about Paper Money of the United States : A Complete Illustrated Guide With Valuations (Paper Money of the United States, 16th ed).
- Clearly THE book for the beginner and intermediate collector. It gives an excellent overview of each type of note (Nationals, Silver Certs, etc.) as well brief descriptions of each note within each type. A great way to learn the history associated with the engravings on U.S. paper currency from the Civil War (1861) to the present.
And, of course, the Friedberg numbering scheme is the standard method of referencing notes among collectors and dealers alike. It should be noted however, that the values given for the notes are very rough approximations (very conservative). This is especially true for the UNC grade(MS60-64). There are no values for GEM notes (MS65+). If you're looking for a comprehensive note reference with ball park values, this book is for you.
- This is the standard reference work on United States Currency for the collector. While the prices given are pretty much obsolete in the volatile currency market, the Friedberg Numbering system is universally used by dealers and collectors alike. If you are considering participation in floor or online auctions, you cannot tell what you are bidding on without this book, as all notes will be listed by FR#. Well worth the investment!
- This book is a must-have for the serious US currency collector, along with the Standard Catalog, 17th edition. Together they provide a great catalog and price guide for US Treasury issues. There are good sections on fractionals and Confederate currency, and decent treatment of colonials. No obsoletes or military payment certificates. The black and white photos are quite a bit larger than those in the Standard Catalog. The color pictures in the back are a nice touch, but the printing is not the world's greatest -- many of the reds come out as pinks, the greens look almost fluorescent, etc.
There aren't many anecdotes or interesting bits of trivia, but as a guide and catalog it is top notch.
- I find this is a great book for any collector of U.S. Currency. Crisp photos of just about EVERY diff Note 1861-Current (Very Nice color section in the back) and up-to-date pricing in the fast changing currency market. Also great for keeping track of your own collection. Definately Recommended!
