   This is not another book on diets. This is something different that I think can really help me and others.



5. Clearly the guy that wrote about exercising being the only method of losing weight as never tried this book. Its not a diet, but a complete life style change. I have only been on it for a week so I am still in the strict phase, but I have already lost 6 pounds. I feel better about myself and I have more energy. If you are serious about getting healthy, I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

1. This Book is excellent, my mom gave me one 20 yrs ago and i used it so much that the pages were missing or faded, now i have a brand new copy to continue my tradition,



2. Everybody, well almost everybody, loved and remembers with vivid nostaligia the dishes their mother prepared. They may not have all been that great but pleasant memories of days gone by and the passage of time and the realization those days are gone forever sharpens and enhances our memories. Now my mother was indeed a great cook, but don't we all say that?
   
   This book, which should be translated into English, so more can enjoy it, is one of the very best cookbooks of Cuban receipes available. It may be the best.
   
   It will warm the hearts of many a Cuban-American and may even bring a tear to their eyes. It is an opportunity to reconnect. And as importantly it will give them an opportunity to prepare the same dishes their mothers and grandmothers did. Luckily, it is a well-written book, logically presented and easy to understand.
   
   In short, the book is a delight, comprehensive but easy to follow even for non-cooks and a boon to those who love good food. As the saying goes -- "all you have to do is to add love." Enjoy!!



3. My mother told me about the author and how she had a cooking show in Cuba. She made the author sound like the Martha Stewart of Havana when it came to the kitchen. I was so happy to find this book, which contains a number of the recipies that my mother used and I thought were gone forever.



4. It is a small world, when someone who lives in the US and is visiting Spain, is able to buy a book from Amazon to give his cousin's wife. The book is a traditional Cuban recipes cookbook. Nitza Villapol could be considered a Betty Crocker or Julia Childs. I ordered the book in my cousin's house in Madrid and his wife received in less than three weeks. This book is one of the most well known Cuban recipes cookbook (if not the best known) and I was really glad to be able to get it through Amazon in Spain.

1. This is a great cookbook for people learning how to speak spanish/english. On each page, one side is in english and the other side is in spanish. So you can never fail on the recipes. This is one of Betty Crockers excellent Cook Books.



2. Great book. Gave as a gift to our Spanish friends, they loved it. Received it quickly after ordering.

5. We live in Honduras and I have a maid/cook. I was desperate for a cookbook that had American recipes that she could understand. She has made 4 recipes out of this book and they all turned out wonderful. Its perfect because I can buy the ingredients off of the english side and she can cook off of the spanish side. 1. I had this book as a wedding gift and still use it...Now bought it for my son. It is the best for PR recipes.



2. I just bought 3 of the Cocina Criolla books, it is so great to know that we can still find the same great cooking book that I got when I got 25 years ago. The recipes are still excellent and now our daughters, a new generation, continues the tradition.



3. I am currently going to school to become a private chef. I have over 20 years cooking experience, and I wanted to go pro. My roots are of Puertorrican tradition (boricua). All of these recipes are down to the basics just like AUGUSTE ESCOFFIER Complete Guide To The Art of Modern Cookery. You really must understand traditional Puertorrican cooking to appreciate this book. Ask any puertorrican chef and yes they have it.



4. Sin duda un clasico. Este libro no debe faltar en ninguna cocina puertorriquena o en la cocina de alguien que desea cocinar comida puertorriquena. Buen provecho.



5. I may be repeating what others have said ... but I became familiar with this book when I was growing up. I remember making Tembleque using this book as a kid, and it came out wonderful.
   
   My mom used this book as her main cookbook -- and when she gave it away instead of giving it to my sister and I we got really angry (because we wanted the book)! I'm planning to replace it as soon as I get a chance.
   
   The cookbook definitely has traditional puerto rican cooking. The recipes are great.

1. Pense que era mejor... a pesar de que hay 200... parecen muchas... pero al final muchas no me gustaron y no hay ninguna de pasta... incluso de pasta integral, el dice en su libro que se puede comer pero aqui no hay ninguna receta con pasta.
   Varias recetas que, al menos yo, no uso.

1. I wanted to read this book since the first time it was published in 1997 but I think I was to young to have appreciated. Now that I finished it I just can say it was a real feast for the mind and soul, it was just the best meal I ever had. Isabel Allende writes after a terrible moment in her life which was the dead of ther daughter Paula but she does it with so much passion, such zeal for life as if celebrating it together with love and lovemaking, just couldn't help but devouring the book in 3 nights. Is not only a novel (if you can call it that way) but is also a cooking book with so many exquisite recipes that you would like to try with your partner (or on your partner) at once. If you happen to speak spanish native or have a good knowledge of this language I'd recommend you to buy the spanish version to enjoy Isabel Allende at her best.



2. Es inevitable, no arrepentirse de las cosas de las que se arrepiente la autora.
   Las recetas están bastante bien introducidas en el texto, aunque lo veo un poco forzado, no hay una unidad, son historias aisladas que a veces no pegan demasiado bien con la receta en cuestión y te quedas un poco a medias, ( en la receta y en la historia), pero es ameno y original.
   A mi entender éste y los demás libros de Isabel Allende, pecan un poco de "aburguesados" y ésto no me gusta demasiado, tniendo en cuenta que pretende escribir precisamente para un público no burgués.
   Tampoco me gusta la excesiva diferencia entre las ediciones existentes. La calidad del papel y de las ilustraciones es abismal, no así los precios.Que también pecan de "burgueses".



3. Es sobresabido que nosotros los latinos o al menos una gran parte de nosotros TODO lo festejamos alrededor de la comida, y creo que en este libro se hace un honor al ejercicio de convivir en familia
   
   No esperes encontrar la gran historia, pero si una perfecta y maravillosa narracion sobre comida e interesantes recetas
