2 comments about Richard Brown's Replica Watch Report: Volume 1.
- I found the book more than generally helpful. Much of the information can be found on the web, however, you would have to spend a great deal of time hunting for it. It is written well and to the point.
- A let down. Although it had some decent content, nothing you couldn't find on a quick internet search, the overall layout of the book was bad. All pages had the appearance of cheap photo copies, all pictures were black and white grainy copies. If your looking for a reference book or table book on watches this isn't it. It did have a few good tips on identifying replicas on certain makes and models but overall a let down.

1 comments about Wristwatches / Armbanduhren / Montres-Bracelets.
- The book starts showing briefly how the different type of movements work and ends with a photo album of different wristwatches divided in sections (automatic, manual winding, sports, chrono, repeaters, electronic, etc) showing brand names as Omega, Jaegger Le Coultre, Zenith, Rolex, Movado, Girard Perregaux and other big names. Photographs are in B/W mainly, but the few that show the timepieces that open some of the chapters are colour. The comment on each timepiece includes an estimated price, although this information varies through time it can be useful as a reference for the beginner. There is a chapter dedicated to the SWATCH phenomenon, including descriptions and photographs of some timepieces. The book includes very useful tips on how to start collecting, store and keep timepieces; being an excelent introduction at a good price, recomended for who likes wristwatches and might become a collector

5 comments about Wristwatch Annual 2004: The Catalog of Producers, Models, and Specifications (Wristwatch Annual).
- I am new to the hobby of horology and enjoy owning this book. It provides a lot of detail and good photos of all the major brands (the competing buying guides leave out some significant brands). Well done and worth buying BEFORE you spend 30 times its price (or more!) on a watch. See the different styles and open your eyes. Take the TIME to appreciate it!
- This is an excellent tool if your a collector, admirer, in the biz or anyone considering a watch purchase. An incredible reference tool, great in helping one narrow down their likes and dislikes...my 3rd year in a row. There are a couple of others...however this one is the most objective and useful.
- I've bought each issue since I got interested in watches in 2000, even though the contents change very little from year to year. Another shortcoming of the annual is that the price information is neither complete nor accurate - you can usually get significant discounts on many of the watches featured. Nevertheless, it is great fun just to look at, and read about watches that I can only drool over :-P
- This is a great guide to learn your way around the fascinating World of watch collecting! This book includes all the "major" players in the watch industry - but unfortunately, it does not include some of the smaller "houses" (i.e. manufacturers).
I was surprised to read that it included some non-European makers like some from the USA. One thing I noticed is that the book has several errors, just try matching some of the photos with the descriptions provided and you'll see what I mean! For the publishers and editors: get some quality control, pleeeaaasse! I recommend it for the beginner and the advance watch collectors. And yes, I do agree with another reviewer, there's no such thing as too many watches! :-)

1 comments about Antique Trader Clocks Price Guide: Including All Types of Clocks-17th Through 20th Century (Antique Trader Clocks Price Guide).
- A brave title with "ALL Types of Clocks" and it disappointed as it did not include many (if any) small Boudoir Clocks. Few 20th Century clocks only 1 electric clock. Few mentions of swiss clocks of note. NO INDEX - what sort of book dose not have an index.
Like many American authors - if it does not happen in the USA it does not happen.
I would not recommend this book to those who collect clocks from "the world" as the world is greater than the USA.

2 comments about Watch and Clock Making and Repairing.
- If you want to make a handmade watch or clock, this book is a Gold mine of information. Covers making watches and clocks from a European perspective using European methods. It seems to me that it leans a little more towards watchmaking than clock making. Old enough to be a good repository of simple old style techniques but still new enough to be easily understood. Loads of clear illustrations on almost every page will leave you thinking "So that's how they did it" time and time again. I am a watch and clock repairman and Of my collection of over 150 Clock and watch books, This is in my top five favorite books.
- I said it in the title.
If you can get this book- and you are any kind of craftsman- you will love it. I wated a month or so- and it was worth the wait.

3 comments about Grand Complications: High Quality Watchmaking (Grand Complications).
- This volume gives little text but loads of glossy photos of the inner workings (and outer beauty) of fine Swiss mechanical movement watches. These pictures are enough to send most watch afficianados into a frenzy. Take it from me. I'm married to one and he didn't put this book down for about two weeks. It was drooled over every chance he got. If you have one of these (watch nuts) at home, you may want to order this, as it will keep them out of your hair for the next couple of weeks and you can get things done. It also makes them more amenable to your suggestions. Have fun!
- Stunning photography, great close-up detail, and thorough descriptions, makes this book a work of art, and an absolute must for any watch enthusiast.
- it would be perfect. As it is now, its just a (huge) coffee table book of very nice closeup pics of watches.

1 comments about Pocket Watch Handbook.
- This book was first printed in England in 1985, so don't expect any information more current than that. It is not a price handbook either. What it does provide is a high quality history of the development of the watch from the Middle Ages with a fair deal of technical explanation. For one unfamiliar with how watches are made, some of the terminology will be difficult. The book also provides some examples of how to research a watch and how to engage in the business of selling watches. Unfortunately, information on starting a watch shop in England in the 1980s is not very useful for most American readers of today, and the research is only moderately interesting. But as an historical introduction to watches it is a top-notch overview, suitable for the technically inclined beginner. The photos are of high quality.

5 comments about Antique Clocks Identification and Price Guide CD-ROM and Internet Resource.
- limited information . links dont work . company not respond to emails for help.
- When got it found out was for Windows 95/98/NT/2000. Had troubel loading it and even seems only partially loaded. Efforts to e-mail the company was unsuccessful on two occasions. If had to do over probably won't have bought the product.
- Without spending a dime on the book, anyone can access ecollectica.com and have access to everything. You don't need a CD-ROM or anything else in this offer.
- Don't bother it is worthless.
1st review I have ever written and I have ordered from amazon for years
First product that isn't worth even the shipping cost.. oh yeah shipping was free.
- I was surprised when the CD-ROM arrived and I opened it to find only a pdf file.
It was difficult to read. The most annoying feature was NO INDEX. Without the index the CD-ROM is vertually useless as an identification guide. Little information on the history of the companies. Little information about Europen clocks
The Internet Resource is limited.
Do not waste your money on the guide.
