1 comments about Feline Behavior.
- As a volunteer at our local Humane Society, I've wanted so bad to help with the cats that are unadoptable. Behavior is the greatest challenge and obstical that cats must prove themselves capable of to reach the goal of somebody to love them. I really want to move into this department to do all I can to ensure all the cats possible get the chance to go home. This book is one great start!! It's very technical however. And I find alot of words (usually anatomical) that I must reference to fully understand. But hey, that's called learning!!!!!!!!!

1 comments about Impressionist Cats.
- Feel like having a bit of whimsy? I bought "Impressionistic Cats" a number of years ago and have thoroughly enjoyed the art, the cats, and the cats in art. Definite whimsy! Might I add, the art is good enough to frame and hang.
(If no image displays for the cover, just click on the product and go to the product page. It will be there.)
This book is an amusing adaptation of Impressionistic art by making all the characters in each painting cats that resemble the characters. However, Susan Herbert has another explanation. She says that Professor Harvey Fishbone, a devout cat lover, collected these paintings and kept them undisclosed, allowing only cats to view them. Now his descendants are releasing these fine paintings for the world to see.
Oh, how I wish you could see the print opposite the title page. It is called "after Edgar Degas Absinthe 1876" and had me belly laughing. If you have seen the painting/print, maybe you remember the abysmal look on the poor woman's face. She has been drinking absinthe, the bane of drink at that time. The artist Susan Herbert, who has several other books with cats in the paintings, is quite talented. Not only does she capture the essence and detail--well, impression, ok, the look of the original painting, she knows her cats. You should see this look of the absinthe-drinking cat! Woe and begone! Come any closer and my claws will have your eyes. Something in that line.
"After Mary Cassatt The Loge c. 1882" is quite the opposite. Instead of stark and dreary, this is all sweetness and light. Two lovely young kitty women sit in the lower balcony, awaiting the opera. Ah, "after Paul Gauguin Tahitian Women 1891." Lovely, lovely cats, solid, earth-bound maidens of Tahiti. Here's "after Vincent Van Gogh, Self-Portrait, 1889," the one with the swirly turquoise background and Vincent's red hair and beard, only this "Vincent" is a marmalade tabby.
One of my favorites: "after Claude Monet The Promenade (Madame Monet and her Son) 1875" showing Mrs. Manet swirling around with her umbrella. Monet/Susan has captured the moment with swirling skirts and puffs of wind made by the twisting umbrella. Ah, the magic of the impression. Lovely Mrs. Cat Monet. Another favorite: "after Berthe Morisot the Cradle 1872" showing a reflective moment of a mother cat after putting down the kitty baby, who has her little paw against her little fur cheek. The sweetness!
And a last print: "after Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec In the Salon at the Rue des Moulins 1894" is a study of night cats waiting for toms, sitting in garish colors and velvets of the waiting area. The moment is everything. I do believe that will do.

1 comments about Cat Behavior and Training: Veterinary Advice for Owners.
- This is one the best books you can find to teach yourself how to train your cat. This book covers most of the problem behaviors that cat owners will face including improper elimination, aggression, scratching on furniture, et. This book goes into why cats behave that way and sets out simple and humane methods to correct problem behaviors.

5 comments about Cats in Love.
- I found this book at a thrift store and am glad I did. It is so sweet and the pictures are very heart-warming. Great for a cat-lover!
- "Cats in Love" displays in photos and stories the love shown by the 'aloof' creatures of the animal kingdom towards other animals (including humans) and especially towards each other. I highly recommend this book to those interested in photography and of course, to those of us who are cat lovers.
- Got this book several years ago, and it is really very sweet.
Anyone who thinks cats don't have emotions, or that they are cold fish, needs to see this book. Full of charming examples of felines and their companions (animal and human), nuzzling up to- gether, sharing a moment of friendship and love. The cover alone is worth the price of the book.Guaranteed to charm, this little book is well-worth purchasing.
- I have bought three books so far and am ordering two more today. This is not just a book for children or adults it shows cats in thier true actions and inactions.
- I was impressed by the lovely and warm photos captured by the photographers! With the stories, I found another wonderful world of anamals!

1 comments about All About Siamese Cats.
- I was heartbroken when my original copy of "All About Siamese Cats" was water damaged years ago. The book had pages that appear laminated (not your ordinary paper) and while the water didn't affect the photos and text, it did cause the pages to wrinkle. This last summer I came across a copy of this book online at Amazon.com. When it arrived, I was pleased to find it was exactly the same copy as the one that was damaged. This is a pretty basic book but I'd recommend it to anyone that loves Siamese!

5 comments about Cats in the Sun.
- Hans Silvester captures not just cats, but the Mediterranean ambience in these gorgeous photos. His years spent photographing and learning about these felines are apparent. The color and composition of his photos is amazing. He has chosen to show us the real cats...not some cute, little, studio-posed furball. These are cats in their natural habitat going about their daily routines. This is a must have for cat lovers.
- This is my second "Cats in the Sun" calendar. The photographs are truly lovely, and not just because I adore cats. I was introduced to this photographer from a book by the same person, by the same title, with many more scenes of cats in the Mediterranean. It's a real treat to see every day.
- Hans Silvester is by far the best photographer of cats you are ever likely to see. Extraordinary. However, the design of the calendars is horrendous - the print unreadable from any distance more than 10 inches. The previous and next month calendar on each page is readable only with a magnifying glass.
- I buy this calendar every year. It's a "must have" for true cat fans. No clothing on the cats, just beautiful cats in sunny Greece.
- The cats and kittens in the sun are everytime so nice to see, you feel happy watching the photos. It's easy to understand that Hans Silvester loves them and you will love them too.

5 comments about PetSpeak: Share Your Pet's Secret Language!.
- As the owner of a 50-pound terrier mix who was not trained correctly and then experienced a period of abuse and neglect, this book has been extremely influential in how I communicate with my dog, and how I recognize what my dog is communicating to me. The book was recommended to me by an excellent trainer from Las Vegas, Nevada, and I have relied on it ever since to help me recognize signs of stress and boredom in my dog, develop a more effective training program, and recognize the true causes and remedies for destructive behaviors. This book should be required reading for all pet owners. There would be many more happy pets and happy owners.
- Not as good as I expected, a lot of it seemed like common sense or for dog owners.
- As a steward for many cats and dogs my whole life, I thought I could read them very well. But "PetSpeak" opened my eyes to many things I was doing wrong, particularly in interpreting the countless nuances of their expressions and activities, and how I responded to them. Anyone who is around cats and dogs should read this. Their lives and those of their animals will be enriched.
- If you are a dog or cat lover you must get this!!! It is so informative and teaches you new thing for communicating with you loved ones,.... I found information that I have not known and It is also enjoyable to read and to know what your loved one means by some action,.... It is also has illustration and brought it in a humour way,... It shows for example the tail meaning of dogs and cats...why dog sometimes eat faeces, why cat wakes up so early,....their vision compare to us,.....and lots other informative thing,.... It lets you take your relationship with your pets to another level,..... It has given me a different perspective on my babies,...
- I found this book extremely informative even though I've been working with animals for the last 25 years. Great book for the beginning pet owner (dog or cat) and good also for trainers. Helped to dispell my confusion of direct eye contact being a form of communication or a direct challenge.

4 comments about What Cats Teach Us...: Life's Lessons Learned from Our Feline Friends.
- This book makes a nice gift for a cat lover....it has nice pictures with inspirational quotes.
- This short book is filled with cute and adorable photos of cats. Each photo is accompanied by a "lesson" -- sometimes wise, sometimes funny, but always put into a fresh context by the photo. A great gift for cat lovers.
- This is a delightful collection of feline photography, each photo accompanied by a small quip or word of wisdom that is sure to bring a smile to the reader's face. The pictures are beautiful and well-executed, and the cats shown in them are equally diverse and attractive. My favorite shot has got to be one of a kitten who has somehow gotten him/herself draped inextricably over the arm of a lamp, and dangles in midair awaiting rescue. The caption reads: "Give in and accept help in an impossible situation." This little book would make an excellent stocking-stuffer, or simply a treat for yourself.
- This little photo book is absolutely wonderful and makes a great addition to any pet lover's library. The photos are so adorable, and the captions of life's lessons are so clever and cute. A great way to showcase the ways cats enrich our lives.
