4 comments about Ninth Garfield Treasury.
- I laughed a lot throughout The Ninth Garfield Treasury, but I wasn't completely satisfied with my purchase. Why? Well, as other reviewers have noted, the logos and very first little box in each strip is missing! This is a problem because I'm sure Jim Davis spends a lot of time thinking up these creative logos and I don't know if he's happy about them being cut out.
Other than that, The Ninth Garfield Treasury is a pretty good buy. I've always thought color was the best way to go with Garfield (check out the funny one that's half black-and-white and half color in this book!), and so I've been purchasing the Treasuries for that one reason. This book is noticeably a lot more bright than the previous few. Red, black, white, green, all sorts of colors show up in this book, and with good detail, too. I think Jim Davis is one of the most talented cartoonists ever (take that, Snoopy!), and his ability to make all his Garfield strips funny and cute (some quite heartwarming, too). I hope Garfield goes for another twenty years (or forty, or sixty!), because I find him constantly inspired. He rarely fails to make me laugh! Keep up the kicking, Garfield! If you like this book, I'd recommend Garfield Treasury, and The Tenth Garfield Treasury.
- The best yet. it is so funny and I don't just say that because I'm a die-hard garfield fan. it was very well written. I'm telling you if you like garfield you like this book.
- Get ready to laugh! This book is the best book of the treasuries!I like this book, because it has lots of color in it.And I agree, this book dosen't have logo boxes like the other books! The bad part of this book is that it is short. But I think Jim Davis should make the tenth treasury!
- The only thing I don't like about the Garfield Treasuries (the recent ones anyway) is that they don't show the Logo-boxes or Drop-panels (as shown as in the "mini-books") with the sunday comics! These things might not show up in all comics sections every week (just like some newspapers still have dailies in b/w) but they're still a major part of the strip and I'd love to see the colors of the logo and drop panels in the Tenth Garfield Treasury. Other than that, this is a great book and a must-have for any Garfield fan.

5 comments about Luxury for Cats.
- While my cats are my kids and I'm a big fan of spoiling them -- this book sends the wrong message. Louis Voitton bags are not needed to keep your cats happy, healthy, and comfortable. The money spent on luxury items and furniture for cats (or humans for that matter) would be much better spent if it would be donated to no-kill shelters and other rescue organizations. Homeless animals are being killed by the thousands in shelters and these animals could use all the help they can get. If you call yourself an animal lover, you should keep this in mind.
- This makes a gorgeous coffee table book. If you or a loved one is a cat lover, this is the perfect book. It is well written with very nice size pictures. Great job!!!
- What a feast for the eyes...and a pleasure to see innovative designs from all over the globe. Feline lovers should delight in finding the unusual in every product that may not be found locally. I highly recommend this book as the perfect gift and reference for high design.

3 comments about Super Nutrition for Dogs n' Cats.
- I have two border collies, ages 13 and 9yrs. The 9 yr old began haveing seizures after her rabies vaccine when she was just 5 yrs old. I found a holistic and homeopathic vet and started making her food from scratch. Treated her with homeopathic remedy, give her vetri science supplements and they both eat what my husband and I do. They are both in great shape, even my regualr vet says she cannot believe what great shape the 13 yr old is in. My dog has been seizure free for 4 yrs now and I read everything I can on making their food and treats as well as no more vaccines. Have had titers done and their antibodies show they are fine and do not need the vaccines so I do not give them. People do not get vaccines every 3 years so why should animals?????

- A friend of mine recommended this book to me because I have ayear and a half old cocker spaniel named Lily that suffered from emotional distress when ever I left her alone. She would whine and cry until I would go back into the house and take her with me. She couldn't be left alone for 5 minutes. Now that I have this book and used it's natural remedies Lily is fine. I purchased a second copy for my sister because her dog suffered from seizures. She was tired of treating him with pills that altered his behavior and made his hair fall out while he continued to suffer through the seizures. Thanks to this book he is healthy and no longer suffers from seizures. He is like a new dog. I recommend this book to everyone that truly loves their animals.
- I have a dog and several cats and was always plagued by fleas. I didn't want to use chemical treatments and a friend told me about this book. The natural approach worked and so far this year we all are flea-free. It also gave me lots of good information on things in my house and yard that can make my animals sick. I will never again let my dog, chomp on the Xmas tree. Anyone who owns a dog or cat will need this book. The information given can keep our animals healthy so we can forget about vet bills for non-emergency illnesses since they won't get sick in the first place. I'm glad the authors wrote a book about illness prevention to complement all those books that tell us what to do after their pet gets sick.

2 comments about The Guide to Owning an Ocicat (Guide to Owning).
- A great -- and belated -- addition to a helpful and informative series of breed books.
Bill McKee is an inspired author choice, bringing new insight into how the Oci was 'created' just three decades ago. Modest as he is, it's fascinating to think that the farsighted breeding choices he (and a handful of others) made, not so very long ago, have defined one of the most popular and distinctive breeds today. Thanks for bringing him back!
- Bill McKee one of the founding breeders of Ocicats, owned the first Ocicat grand in CFA GRC Dalai's Golden Cavalier of Ociville, writes from personal experience with this "wild cat" look alike.
Ocicat owners from all over the world contributed pictures which give the reader a fantastic insite into the numerous colors in this fantastic breed. The history of the Ocicat and it beginnings in the cat show world is well documented by Bill McKee as he was intrumental in getting the Ocicat accepted by CFA which was the first cat organization to fully recognize the Ocicat for Championship status. It was indeed a pleasure to Ocicat breeders everywhere to see Bill McKee's name on the first published Ocicat book.

5 comments about Persian Cats.
- I liked the box, was in good condition, and found the book informative and answered several questions which was my reason for purchasing the book. I was very well satisfied with the book and the quality of the product. Would purchase with that company again.
- This book covers ALL cats in general, it's not specific enough for Persians.
Dissappointing.
- The photos inside are very nice but it doesn't represent the standart of persian cat. Here in Brazil the Persian cat is very diferent. Persian's face (principally Persian's nose) is much more different than it is showing in this book.
- This book is a good book for its size that does covers the basics that you need to know.Shows many variations of the Persians. For me personally finding a book that shows the blue eyed Chinchilla was a bonus.Plenty of colour photos throughout.
If you are thinking of buying a Persian Cat this book will be a good start.Plenty of information here. For its size the book has a lot going for it.The photos are a treat,You're gonna love the photos in this book! This book has a lot to offer and is good value.Overall,a good quality book.
I would suggest that this book be your first book on Persians then consider books on how to look after your kitten(s) and even the Cat encyclopedia type books after.
- I had recently got the cutest little Persian Kitten. As a new cat owner I purchased this book to get information specific to the breed. Outside a few pages of breed information, history and pictures, everything else was just general cat information. I would have expected more on breed care, grooming, and health concerns.

4 comments about A Photographic Atlas of the Human Body: With Selected Cat, Sheep, and Cow Dissections.
- I bought a used book titled "A photographic Atlas of the Human Body" by Gerard Tortora. The book looks almost new, there are no writings or creased pages. I received the book in less than a week just as guaranteed.
The book has excellent photographs and graphics.
- If you have the Tortora book, then you do not need this atlas. I would highly, highly recommend that you do not waste money on this atlas. Spend a few more dollars and get a copy of the Netter's atlas for students. Trying to use this atlas in my human anatomy lab/class (intro) has been nothing but annoying. Many important landmarks are overlooked and I have repeatedly had to refer to Netter's to figure out where landmarks are. Avoid this atlas and save your money and frustration.
- This book is a very good companion if you are using osteology blocks with pictures in black and white. Is just 32 pages and the information is limited, however the pictures are great and allow you to see the little details that escape from black and white photos in other books. Did I mention the price? Is very affordable for struggling students like me.
- I'm a pre-med student, and when I first heard about this book from my professor, I was a bit skeptical that it would help me or anyone that wasn't already in med school. But when I got it, it was clear and easy to follow. The pictures weren't some badly drawn figurines, or a mess of grey, unidentifiable body parts, they were real photographs of the skeleton which were, thank goodness!, easy on the eyes. I might not be in med school yet, but I'm making sure I have this book with me. As a revision and reference book, this one is the greatest!

5 comments about Blue Cats, Cats of the Greek Islands.
- You don't have to be a feline fancier to enjoy the 28 gorgeous photos by Ron Nelson. The cats are, of course, irresistible - a jet black adventurer leaping from a white wall, a covey of the gentle creatures gathered around a blue fence or a black and white watchman perched high atop a pillar looking out to sea.
While the cats are irresistible so are the settings - Santorini and Antiparos. For me, Santorini is one of the most beautiful islands in the world. The result of an enormous volcanic explosion thousands of years ago Santorini is now blessed with astounding natural beauty. Three huge cliffs define the island as it slopes down to the gorgeous Mediterranean, and in the island's center is a magnificent lagoon. Needless to say the view from Santorini is spectacular.
I've not had the pleasure of visiting Antiparos however, if Ron Nelson's photos are any indication, it would be an estimable destination. It boasts a picture postcard harbor, wide sandy beaches, and clear sparkling water.
Cats of the Greek Islands is a delight for armchair travelers, animal lovers, and those who enjoy beautiful scenes.
- Gail Cooke
- If you love cats, you got to love the photos in this book.
- "Blue Cats" is a new offering from renowned photographer Ron Nelson. Nelson specializes in both human and animal imagery, mostly in Europe, and is one of the best photographers working today. Cats are both photogenic but notoriously difficult to photograph due to their individuality and unpredictability, but here Nelson makes it look easy.
Greece has some of the most stunning architecture, landscapes, and waterscapes in the world, and is also known for a large and gregarious cat population. In this book Nelson captures the natural beauty of Greece and the graceful four-footed inhabitants of the coastal areas. The composition of these photographs is delicate and artistic, yet playful and relaxing. I am especially fond of the photographs depicting cats in motion, especially the two photos (numbers 26 and 27) "Jump Across" and "Shadow of a Jump" taken in Oia, Santorini which are exquisitely composed: the study of lighting and shadow is excellent throughout the book, but peaks with "Shadow of a Jump" in my opinion.
This book is excellent for anyone who loves excellent photography, cats, or travel (especially with pristine water backdrops); it is beautifully conceived and printed, and would look great on any coffee table or in any library. I highly recommend this book, and hope to see more from Ron Nelson in the future.
- Ron Nelson's camera captures the soft details of some amazing cats living in the Greek Isles. Their fur seems to be especially healthy and their bright eyes seem to speak of happy days laying out in the sun, a life lived outdoors in the fresh air and a content spirit.
Each picture is framed on a white page to bring out the contrast of the white stone walls and sapphire waters glistening in the distance. Some kittens are found sleeping on windowsills outside windows with lace curtains while others find their home in a café or wandering along sun-drenched stone walls with foliage set against a background of mountains and cooling blue waters.
The photography in this book goes beyond capturing moments and has additional elements of artistic excellence.
My husband has always wanted a pure black cat and the one in this book really captured his interest in a variety of pictures including the one where the cat jumps off the wall and where it looks like it is meditating or observing the view. The tiny black-and-white cat will make you laugh as it seems to have found itself atop a large white stone pillar and is quite happy to sleep the day away far from the crowd.
All of the cats look especially well groomed, very pampered and happy to be living in Greece. Blue Cats is one of the most beautiful books on cats I've ever seen due to the additional artistic flair of the photography and the beyond gorgeous settings.
~The Rebecca Review
- Gorgeous photographs! He catches cats doing fairly ordinary cat things against a breath-takingly beautiful backdrop of Greek scenery.

5 comments about Buffy My Love: A Remembrance in Words and Photographs.
- This little book, the photographer author's tribute in words and photographs to the feline love of his life, shines with gentle love, compassion, and loyalty. Truly a spiritual book, BUFFY MY LOVE illustrates unconditional love and admiration for Creation, the Creator, and one perfect little creature whose love, beauty, gentleness, and loyalty forever changed Dattilo's life.
I can't recommend this book highly enough -- for those who love cats, photography, beauty, love, kindness, and life itself. It would make a beautiful gift for anyone who loves any of the above, as well.
- I ordered this book on a whim because I liked the cover, and I was so surprised to find what a beautiful, meaningful and emotionally powerful little book this is. It is an account of a life with a once in a lifetime cat by a man with the soul of a poet and a heart that belonged to Buffy.
- If you have any friends who love their cats, this is the perfect gift for them. Their are delightful, candid emotions that only cat lovers will understand. This is a very special read.
- You will be as smitten as I was with this captivating cat peering at you through the curtain. A stunning tribute and a deserving one. Every cat should be this loved.
- This wonderful book was a gift to me from a friend who lost her dear cat Buster to cancer two days before I lost my Jolie cat to cancer. You don't think anyone else could or would understand your love for your pet or your grief at the loss of your pet. This book with its beautiful photographs and charming story let me see other people do love their pets as I do. It is a book I have shared with my 94 year old neighbor to my 13 year old niece and everyone has loved it. This is a book your must own if you are a cat or a pet lover.

3 comments about Cats On Quilts.
- Having decided from the beginning that each quilt should have a cat on it somewhere, I ordered this book to see examples of how people in the past have represented cats on quilts. The liveliness of representation of cats is quite amazing, with many of the quilts managing to capture the way a cat looks and behaves - no mean feat, you only have to look at available cat fabrics to see how rare this is.
This is a small book, with each page containing detail from one quilt and I'd recommend it strongly to anyone interested in seeing in close-up detail how cats have been pictured on old quilts. I think it's a wonderful book.
- This is a FANTASTIC book. The quilts that the author chose to include are unique, one-of-a-kind pieces and often display a wonderful sense of humor. (Take, for instance, the quilt which features blocks with the head and front paws of a kitty, and the disappearing hind end of a mouse escaping from the kitty.) The excerpts from different writings about cats are understated and thoughtful, and the author provides a great mini-history of textiles in America. This book moved me into high gear in my own quilting and is an ongoing source of keen pleasure. If you don't quilt, if you just like cats, you'll love the book because of its folk-art depictions of cats; if you like cats AND quilting, this book will make you feel like someone let you loose in the catnip patch.
- This sweet book would make a nice gift - it is full of whimsical and unusual examples of cat motifs on American country quilts. Many cat-related books are a bit saccharine for my taste but this is a refreshing and delightful change of pace
