  1. I am owned by three cats, and I am convinced they helped Ed Strnad write this book. Each time I laughed aloud (which was frequently), my cats kept smirking. This is a fun book filled with funny observations about feline-human interactions. Read it, and you might just discover that you're a cat person.

  2. I came accross this book by accident and bought it on a whim as a gift for a friend and co-worker who is always talking about her cat. I read it before giving it to her and found it was very humorous as well as describing most cats I have had contact with. After I gave it to my friend she informed me that almost every line seemed to describe her own cat

I only gave it a 3 star rating because I am not a "Cat Person". Personally I perfer pets that are easier to get along with such as Mountain Gorillas and Kodiak Bears. For cat lovers and others that just want a little humor in their lives I recommend you read this book. As for me I`m going to order one of the other Ed Strnad books and keep it for myself.

5 comments about Cat Gallery Page-a-Day Calendar 2006 (Page a Day Gallery Calendar).

  1. I love reading the stories about the pick of the week or the rescue cats. I just wish it came in a holder with a color other than red. Clear or white would be better.

  2. If you're actually reading this comment then you must, like I do, purchase several cat calendars a year. This year was the first year I stumbled upon this one. It is now officially my MUST HAVE cat calendar. I will order this one every single year it is available and will go to great lengths to track it down. (I arrived here on this site in February, already searching to see if the next year's version was available for pre-order!) Others may come and go in popularity. Many are repeats of artwork done by the artist years ago - recycling calendar artwork is not my idea of a best buy. This calendar is a cut above the rest and a MUST BUY for me.

As other reviewers have remarked, this calendar features photos of real cats, in real-life. No obvious poses. The display stand is a unique acrylic holder that displays the prints beautifully. The calendar itself is probably double the size of the standard, page-a-day easel type. Pages are printed on both sides of photo-quality cardstock - so while the pictures are over-sized from what you'd expect, the calendar's footprint on your desktop or table isn't that much larger than the older, standard size.

At least 3 or 4 times a week someone in our household is shouting out, "You've gotta come see today's picture!", as they reveal the new day's photo.

Buy this calendar no matter what year or month you happen to read this review. You'll be pleased that you did.

  3. Why would Amazon want me to review an order that they didn't fill? I would LOVE to review this item - how can I get it????
I've been waiting since December for it, and was told last week, the back order will not be filled.

  4. This is my 3rd year with this Cat-a-Day calendar. Obviously I am completely in love with it, both because of the high quality and the fact that these pictures are of REAL CATS. Not photo studio cats posing with perfectly positioned blossoms or in strange positions that are more disturbing than cute (because I always wonder, how in the world did the photographer get them to do this? They look drugged!). No, these are real cats, beautifully photographed, doing real cat things. Love it!

  5. I love this calendar! You see beautiful color photos of cats & kittens, a few black & white photos. There is always a comment in the corner pertaining to cats & kittens. So not only do you get to enjoy the pictures, you almost always learn something new. Some pictures will really steal your heart. You'll find yourself saying, "I want that one!" The calendar has big numbers in the upper left hand corner making it easy to read. A different cat or kitten is on each day with the exception of the week-end where they combine Saturday & Sunday. It's a perfect addition to your desk and home.

1 comments about Cat Comfort Cards.

  1. "We've written these cards to guide you, our human companions, in the way of feline wisdom. We know that it's not always easy being human, and we're happy to share our insights with you. We suggest that anytime you feel that you need inspiration, you just curl up in your favorite chair...and pull out one of our cards." - The feline authors

Cat Comfort Cards is a 50-card deck that is absolutely saturated with color. I've reviewed dozens of decks and this one is by far the most colorful! Magenta, fuchsia, chartreuse, lemon yellow, electric orange, violet, cobalt-you get the picture.

It's a straightforward deck, without any guidebook. What you get are 50 vibrant, whimsical cards that feature a feline-related saying one side and some advice on the other. Some examples include:

Technocat - Learn a new skill. It will open up many possibilities.

Bureaucat - Get that paperwork done. You'll feel better.

Scaredy Cat - Face your fears. They will disappear when you confront them.

Cat's Eye - Open that inner eye. You'll see what's really happening.

Angel Cat - Know that you're loved and protected.

Catharsis - Enjoy the freedom that comes with release.

Catacomb - Look deep inside. Take time to meditate or journey within.

As with most decks published by Hay House, Cat Comfort Cards are of sturdy stock with a glossy finish. Fanciful images, bright colors, and a playful font grace each card-both front and back.

These cards are major eye candy. I enjoyed going through each one, soaking in the amazing colors. Some of the cards were downright funny. One of my favorites is Cata-holic, which depicts a passed out cat surrounded by milk cartons. The message is "Curb your excesses. Everything in moderation."

Cat lovers will go wild over this unique deck. But even if you're not overly thrilled with cats, the original artwork and vivid colors will likely pull you in. Although Cat Comfort Cards are not touted to be an oracle, I can certainly see this deck easily filling that role.

  1. I received this book when I was a child, in the 1960s. I would pull it out on a nothing-to-do day and spend hours poring over it. I still have that copy, and still love it. The photos are delightful. This book is a must for any cat lover.
