1. As the proud owner of two fat cats, I enjoyed this book. I thought my 20-lb cats were fat until I saw some of the critters featured here. If you are a cat person, you'll like this collection of incredibly fat and funny felines.



2. The book "Fat Cats" by J.C. Suares, is a great book for anyone that has a cat, loves cats, or has friends or family that appreciate this truly unique creature. This book isn't a story but more of a pictorial essay of cats that are, well FAT. They are some really cute pictures in the books of people who love cats that are "weight challenged". The most amazing picture is that of a cat that weighed 43 pounds!!! All the pictures in the book are black and white photos and this book makes a great gift. I leave the book on the coffee table and always have guests picking it up to look at these incredibly beatutiful cats!

1. for your dog's own good, please avoid this book. it is unfortunate that just anybody can and does write books these days. there is flat out misinformation in this book. here is just one example: the author recommends feeding grapes to dogs. grapes are listed on the poison list for dogs. there are others too numerous to list.
   if you want to know the FACTS about canine nutritional needs, i recommend:
   1) 'home prepared dog and cat diets' by donald strombeck, DVM
   2) 'canine nutrition' by lowell ackerman, DVM
   3) 'small animal clinical nutrition' by hand, thatcher, remillard, roudebush (this is a veterinary text book, you can find it used for a good price at amazon)
   these books have good chapters on nutrition:
   1) 'dr pitcairn's complete guide to natural health for dogs & cats' by richard pitcairn, DVM
   2)) 'natural health bible for dogs & cats' by shawn messonnier, DVM
   3) 'dog health & nutrition for dummies' by christine zink, DVM

2. This is the only health and/or nutrition book I've read cover to cover. The topics are fascinating, and the writing style engaging.

   Lazarus provides general information about feline nutrition (or lack thereof) and diet suggestions, as well as sections dedicated to a variety of feline medical problems and both their standard and holistic treatments. She cites numerous holistic veterinarians, but this is not a tirade against conventional medicine. It does offer hope through alternative solutions.
