5 comments about The PDQ (Pretty Darn Quick) Vegetarian Cookbook: 240 Healthy and Easy No-Prep Recipes for Busy Cooks.

  1. I like this cookbook because the ingredients are common and easy to find. Often I can throw something together with what is already in the cupboards. This is a refreshing change from recipes which require a lot of prep work or exotic ingredients. Vegan options are provided if desired. I first checked this out from my local library and liked it so much I bought my own copy.

  2. I received this today and well I'm a little disappointed. It is true that most of the recipes seem easy to make and use packaged, frozen, or canned ingred. It's just well most of these recipes use things I really don't use. There might be a handful that I want to try. Another thing she uses beans in alot of the recipes. I thought it would be better. I bought a cookbook a couple of days ago I like much better called Hungry Girl Recipes. Another thing I really didn't like the layout of the recipes (I don't like 2 recipes on the same page) Just a preferance.

  3. I am thrilled that I purchased The PDQ Vegetarian Cookbook. The recipes are fast, delicious, healthy and easy to understand and prepare. I use my book everyday and enjoy it tremendously. I feel empowered and more in charge of my health and the health of my family. A vegetarian/vegan lifestyle doesn't have to be complicated or overwhelming. This book has boosted my confidence level in my kitchen. My two daughters have already requested copies of their own, when they move out. Thank-you PDQ!

  4. I received this book as a Christmas present and it lives up to its name- PDQ! I am in college and cooking can be difficult with limited time, supplies, and space to cook. The recipes have very few ingredients, are very fast to make, and taste great. Its hard to find a veg cookbook that satisfies all three requirements. Plus there are an assortment of types of recipes like Italian, Mexican, Spanish, Asian, American ect. Plus it tells you what ingredients to substitute to make a recipe vegan and when you shouldn't. Love it!!

  5. I borrowed this book from the library to prepare for a vegan diet (during Lent). It is chock-full of quick recipes that spawn ideas for other fast dishes. If you're looking for fancy dishes with exotic ingredients this is not the book for you. If you shop at the local grocer (not a whole foods market or specialty store) on a 4+ family budget then this is it!

5 comments about Wild Cats of the World.

  1. I would highly recommend this book to any who enjoys learning about felines or any members of Carnivora. The book offers a good base knowledge of Felidae, particularly of individual species. As a reference book, I find it invaluable, with all the basic facts I need. The text is easy to read and written in an organized fashion. The pictures add a very nice touch and every species seems to be included, from lions to Andean mountain cats.

  2. This is the most comprehensive reference on wild cats I've yet seen. This is not just a picture book of cats, although there are wonderful plates of all of the cats discussed (even the elusive golden cat). This is an encyclopedic tome offering information about range, habits, food, etc.

  3. This book is very educational. Has alot of information on wild cats. I would highly recommand this book.

  4. I haven't seen a textbook this big since my college psychology book a few months back. Anyway, this is a great deal. Almost every aspect of almost every wild cat living in this world is here. Even the Appendices help. Highly recommended for those who are interested in lions, tigers, cheetahs, pumas, etc.

  5. It is a very information book giving black and white and color photos. It is a good reference book for people who do work with predators and for anyone who would like to know about relatives of the domestic cat. The format of the book is an encylopdeia format and it is fairly easy to read.

5 comments about Garfield at Large: His First Book (Davis, Jim. Garfield Classics.).

  1. This is one big orange reason to not buy a cat. You are also in danger of never having much pasta in your diet again, as the big, fat, annoying cat eats all your food, sleeps all over the place and wrecks your furniture. He will also do nasty things to the postie and possibly to anyone you decided to bring over. Still, fairly amusing.

  2. "Garfield at Large" is Garfield's first funnies (1978-1979). Lovely to see Jim Davis early ideas. (First strip with Odie, Pookie, first bad Monday...) Beautiful. Garfield's chubbier to begin with. Curious.

  3. This book:

Well, Paws decided to colourize the weekday strips for these new compilations and they look nice. I would have preferred it if they simply left them in black and white and had the Sunday strips in colour, though. The Sunday strips are the same as you would have seen in the newspaper or the "Garfield Treasuries". Except, the colour scheme is modified slightly (not a big deal) and they added the title block (the title "GARFIELD" rising out of the background, with Garfield lying down in front of it) which didn't exist until the early 1980s!

    The later collections:

The problem is with the later collections. I noticed that some of these new colour collections which come after "Garfield at Large" have the funny front pages and end pages from the original collections moved around or missing entirely. This may have been a printing mistake, though.

Here is the big problem. The original black and white collections up to and including the sixteenth were missing the title and drop block from the Sunday strips. That is, the title block and the very first block of the strip. This didn't matter for the first few years as these didn't exist. A few years later, the title block mentioned in my first paragraph was introduced and the drop block simply showcased the four major characters, Garfield, Odie, Jon and Lyman. A little later, unique title blocks and drop blocks related to the strip's story were created.

Unfortunately, the new colour collections have the drop block REMOVED in the later collections, yet the unique title block is included. So the strips aren't complete, if you want to read the complete strips, I guess you have to visit the Garfield website.

Still, for the price, it's a great value. The books are printed on high quality paper as usual. Even the new colour "Fat Cat 3-Packs" are printed in higher quality paper instead of that awful "mass market paperback" paper they used to use for the older ones.

  4. Garfield is a very lazy cute lovable cat that everyone adores. He sits around all day, eats lasagna, sleeps all day, and buggs the crap out of Oddie. He hates any attention. He likes to physically abuse Nermal, and no matter how much he tries he can't make him not cute and loveable.
In this book Garfield tries to do the impossible, LOSE WEIGHT!!! Garfield runs and hides when ANY ONE brings up the word diet. Garfield runs and hides when ANY ONE brings up the word diet. Garfield can be such an idiot (most of the time)!
I like this book because I love to see Garfield do funny things, because I love him SO MUCH!!DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Now, as you can see in this panel, Garfield doesn't like Nermal! But like him or not, Nermal's here to stay! Or is he?! Let's find out.

5 comments about Rest in Pieces (Mrs. Murphy Mysteries).

  1. When you live in a town as small as Crozet, Virginia, everyone is privy to your private affairs. No one knows that better than postmistress Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen. After a bad divorce with resident veterinarian Pharamond "Fair" Haristeen, thanks to the affair he had with Virginia's very own vixen, BoomBoom Craycroft, Harry's life was put on display. But she's a strong woman, determined to prove to the folks of Crozet that she's quite happy without Fair, and doing well on her own. But the appearance of newcomer Blair Bainbridge in town makes her wonder if she's ready to hop back into the relationship boat.

Since being cheated on by her ex-husband, Fair, Harry is taking a sabbatical from men. She's quite content spending her days tending her farm, and working at the post office where she has a bird's eye view of all of her neighbors. When city slicker Blair Bainbridge arrives in town, however, Harry can't help but wonder if, perhaps, something could happen between the two. Blair is handsome and rugged, but he's also a kind soul who needs a lot of help learning the way farm's work. As a courteous neighbor, Harry is more than happy to show him the ropes. But not everyone in Crozet is so trusting of the newcomer. When pieces of a dismembered body begin springing up around Crozet, people begin questioning Blair's arrival. After all, things were always quaint, cozy, carefree, and safe within the Crozet city limits until Blair arrived. Now a dismembered corpse has popped up, and no one knows who it belongs to. With Christmas right around the corner, not many are interested in dwelling on the evil surrounding them. Except for Harry. Harry can't help but feel that something is quite amiss within Crozet, and she's determined to find out what, exactly, is going on - even if just to clear Blair's name. With the terrific tabby, Mrs. Murphy, along with the cuddly Welsh Corgi, Tee Tucker, by her side, Harry feels that the trio is more than enough manpower to finger the culprit. But when another body turns up - this one closer to home - Harry begins to realize that she's treading unsafe waters, and will have to watch her back, or else she may be the next Crozet citizen who ends up dead and buried.

I have been reading Rita Mae Brown's MRS. MURPHY mysteries for over ten years; but, having not started from the beginning, I had never read REST IN PIECES. If only I would have known what I was missing, I would have read it years ago. Harry seems even more fiery, spirited, and brazen within the pages of REST IN PIECES than she does in later additions to the series. She seems so youthful, and, perhaps, more carefree. While Harry's divorce from Fair is much more prevalent in REST IN PIECES, because the wounds of his whole affair are still opened, it never overshadows the story. In fact, it presents a nice bit of history that only makes the reader like Harry more. Mrs. Murphy and Tee Tucker are their usual adorable, bickering, nosy selves; and the inclusion of Simon the opossum is simply delightful, as he is so sweet and cute. The Crozet characters are both humorous and bitter - depending on when you encounter them - but their little town feels like home to the reader, and is a wonderful place to stop by every now and then. A captivating tale - Rita Mae and Sneaky Pie are quite the writing duo!

  2. I have searched far and wide for a good cozy mystery without profanity and failed again. Profanity is reference to religious matters in a frivolous way -- taking the Lord's name in vain.
Otherwise, I liked the writing; it flows well: you do not have to diagram the sentences to make sense of them.
    The book was entertaining.
Some of the minute, boring details of the halloween party and the fox hunt made me think that the author was struggling to get a required number of words or pages. A lot of the animal dialogue seems to serve the same purpose. The story could have been better told in 200 pages.
I will not buy any of her other books because of the profanity which I abhor. I wish she would choose to write without it because I think she is a talented writer.

  3. In the 2nd book in the Mrs. Murphy and Tucker mystery series, the animals once again play a huge role in solving a murder. The main character, Mary Minor Haristeen (aka Harry), along with her two animal friends Mrs. Murphy (a gray tiger cat) and Tucker (a corgi) lead the way. When newcomer, Blair Bainbridge, rolls into town a lot of folks in Crozet, Virginia believe that trouble rolled in with him. The handsome bachelor turns many female heads, and Harry tries to convince herself that she has sworn off men since her divorce. When pieces of a dead body are found on Blair's property, tongues start to wag. And when more pieces of the body are discovered during the Harvest Ball, a tragic event from Blair's past comes back to haunt him. Has this "Yankee" brought murder to this sleepy small-town?

Having just finished reading the first book in the series, I admit it was much easier for me to follow the dialogue between the animals in this second installment. At first, I had a difficult time following the discussions between the animals, as it adds to the already large cast of characters. However, I adore the way the animals speak to one another! Their antics are charming, and I find that it adds a lot to this great series.

The mystery had me guessing until the end. Normally, I am able to figure out the mysteries pretty quickly (as many cozies give a lot of clues), but I was surprised at the ending. This is a great series, and I look forward to reading the extensive collection of books by this author (and Sneaky Pie, of course!).

If you like the KoKo and Yum Yum series by Lilian Jackson Braun, give this book a try.

The first book in the series is called "Wish You Were Here". Enjoy!

  4. I enjoyed this second book in the Mrs. Murphy series much more than the first, and the main reason for that is that the author has painted a true-to-life picture of what it's like to live in the country and in a small town. I certainly could see parallels to my own life in the descriptions of country living and folks helping others. Also, I didn't find the animals as distracting this time (maybe because I knew what to expect this time round). Anyway, the mystery in this book is a good one and it will keep you guessing until the end. In it we get to know Harry a little better, as well as her numerous wonderful friends. Ms. Brown does a good job of characterization for her somewhat eccentric cast of characters. The story starts with various human body parts showing up in very strange places. It certainly puts the citizens of Crozon on the alert and sets the stage for more murder and mayhem. All in all a pretty good read.

  5. Rest in Pieces, the second in the Mrs. Murphy mystery series, begins when Blair Bainbridge, a male model, moves into Crozet. The cast of female characters immediately begin to matchmake, particularly with Mary Minor "Harry" Harristeen, postmistress and recently divorced. But as has become the norm in the small town, murder gets in the way of everyone's plans. It all begins when Tee Tucker, Harry's corgi, finds a body part in the family burial plot on Blair's farm.

As the mystery unfolds, the readers learn more and more about Harry, her neighbors, and their pets. At the top of the pyramid are Marilyn Sanburne and her recently married daughter, Little Marilyn. Although not a marriage of love, at first, she and Fitz-Gilbert have come to care for each other in a short time. But as usual in Crozet, things are not as they appear.

While no one in the small town wants to believe that one of them is a murderer, another body turns up. Each is beginning to believe he or shee may be in danger. But why? The end is surprising and satisfying. This is a good quick read and leads the reader into the next in the series.

  1. This is just a collection of Garfield comics you can get off the Garfield website. There isn't even any of the new stuff with Luz and John ending up together.

  2. I have been a long time Garfield fan. While sometimes the strip seems to fall a little short, by and large it stays consistently funny. What I especially have liked about Garfield in recent years is that Jim Davis seems to have really cultivated his taste for the bizarre, so recent Garfield strips have often had a Far Sidian quality to them. This can especially be seen in the recent books, including this one.

  3. A great book if you like Garfield. I like the cat and the dog too. I didn't like how the man put the collar on the dog, it was cruel of him.

  4. I think this is a good book if you like garfield. I like when the dog and garfield dance. I didn't like when the men put the shock collar on the dog, that was mean of them.

  5. While i don't have this book it still souds delightful!!!! After many years Garfield still puts a smile on your face! In this book it celebrates that as Garfield get older he still probaly the same and with his good and funny attitude. so enjoy as many others will enjoy i too!

5 comments about The Cats' House.

  1. I would love to make over my townhouse with some of the wonderful enhancements this couple has made to their San Diego home to make it a dream house for cats.

Don't make the mistake another reader made - this is not detailed instructions on how to make over your home into a Cat's house. They do, however, include some blueprints in the back, and some cautionary suggestions (like containing the construction area in plastic to minimize the dust in the rest of the house...). It is more the story of how their family grew and their home evolved to delight and accomodate their furry children.

Lots of fun and wonderful photos!

  2. This book helps us to focus on what would be possible. We are now honing our woodworking skills to put up many shelves and ramps. Those without woodworking skills or aptitude might want to get a handyman.

But there are many relatively simple ways to increase your cats' territory and excitement. They love to be up high. All cat owners know that. There are companies you can find online, google cat shelves, that will build them for you and send with installation instructions. We have more time than money, plus enjoy doing these projects.

AS others have written, there are ideas here that I never could have imagined.

Plus it's a beautifully photographed book.

  3. I have ordered this book twice, so far, for 2 other mega-Cat Lovers I have met:

One lady rescued a mom-cat and her 5 kittens; and, instead of splitting up the brood, has kept all 5 kittens as her new family. Another lady shared stories with me, of her 4 cats at home, who are part and parcel of her life. How nice a way, to pay tribute to the Cat Lovers in YOUR life, with a copy of this endlessly entertaining, endearing book.

  4. Could have shown more indeapth on construction and lay out, to simpistic of book

  5. Photographer Bob Walker and his wife, writer Frances Mooney, love cats. So much so that they've turned their San Diego, California home into the cat-friendliest place on the planet! The reader is invited along on a personal tour of this customized feline Paradise, room by room -- and what a colorful, wonderful tour it is! Climb the spiral cat staircase or scratch the floor-to-ceiling pink sisal scratching post; run along the catwalks that connect room to room via special cat doors high in the walls; experience the golden Pyramid of the Sun, feline style! These and much, much more can be found within the multicolored pages of THE CATS' HOUSE -- but be forewarned: once you've visited, you'll want to return again and again! A GREAT gift and a wonderful coffee-table conversation piece, THE CATS' HOUSE is a must for every cat lover.

3 comments about The World Is Your Litter Box: A How-to Manual for Cats.

  1. this debut book by quasi is a must read for any cat lover and for all cats everywhere. so funny that you will laugh till you bring up a hairball. with so many great tips for cats on how to handle their human, no cat will want to be without it and cat lovers will learn some of what makes their cat tick. THE WORLD IS YOUR LITTERBOX is THE CAT'S MEOW.

  2. This book is so much fun to read with a lot of laugh-out-loud moments! What makes this book so different is that it's written BY a cat FOR cats. Quasi is the wise old sage who teaches cats how to get humans to do just about anything they want, as well as getting into lots of fun themselves. He's such a delightfully witty cat that you can't help but love him! Steve and his "female" (that's what Quasi calls Steve's better half!) are just as enamored by Quasi as you will be. I loved it! I can't wait to share it with my friends and family...purrrely delicious!

  3. The World Is Your Litter Box: A How-to Manual for Cats is a very unusual book in that it was written by Quasi, who happens to be a cat. This book is actually an instruction manual for cats who were unfortunate enough to be born without the innate feline abilities possessed by Quasi.

The cats who live in my house, Grace and Bandit, were very interested in the book. Grace, of course, wouldn't read it while I was looking, but she did read it after I was asleep for the night. Grace, the world's most prolific upchucker, learned of a few new places to throw up thanks to Quasi. Bandit thought the book was very flavorful - all four corners now are artfully decorated with fang marks.

Grace and Bandit have a few suggestions in case Quasi is thinking of a sequel. They'd like to teach him the "brush your tail against a candle during a party" trick to liven up social gatherings. Also, to encourage household remodeling and redecorating, there's the "get up into the ceiling and cause the drywall to collapse" trick.

On the whole though, we'd like to congratulate Quasi, and his human co-author, Steve Fisher, on a cute, humorous, and charming book.

5 comments about The Cat Owner's Manual: Operating Instructions, Troubleshooting Tips, and Advice on Lifetime Maintenance (Quirk Books).

  1. My roommate owns a cat so I bought this book as a gift for her birthday. She let me borrow it when she was done and I have to say, I learned a lot of cats! The book is very informative but very easy to read. The witty illustrations that accompanied it was just perfect. I also own the Dog manual and enjoy it greatly myself!

If you are looking for an informative book that is easy to read and comprehend, and enjoyable, this is the one for you. It covers practically everything to owning a Cat!

  2. A funny and great book for the first time cat owner, or anyone who loves cats.

Author of "Hobo Finds A Home" editor "Of A Predatory Heart"

  3. I read the book from cover to cover - it's an easy read for an informational book. I used it for a good overview and also have a more detailed "reference" book that I refer to if specific problems arise with my cat.

  4. I have come accross many cat books, dog books, and dog or cat books that are written in a funny style. This is one of those rare books that actually manages to succeed in everything it aspires to!

Not only is this book recent (2004), inexpensive, and hillariously written and illustrated, but it has all of the basic information a cat owner would need in an extremely USEFUL format. Man, how I wish I had this book when I first got my cat! It covers all of the questions other books could easily overlook, such as how to hold a cat, proper grooming, socialization, etc.... The format is just so... organized, it's easy to get an idea of where everything is, and the funny mechanical manual format is brilliantly integrated so that it does not interfere with either readability or clarity.

The only deficiency of this book is the lack of detailed medical information. This is not a bad thing in itself, though, as it allows for a shorter, clearer book. I would strongly recommend you to also purchase a veterinarian-written guide to cat health that covers all of the common medical problems. This would allow you access to information about vaccinations, what qualifies as an emergency or needs veterinary attention, and at-home solutions to medical problems without constantly questioning your vet. Such books include "Guide to a Healthy Cat" by Elaine Wexler-Mitchell, DVM (great, recent, inexpensive book - the only lack is that it doesn't go into as much depth as it should because it tries to be easy to understand), "Cat Owner's Home Veterinary Handbook" (a classic, in-depth book about almost every problem you might face - but not very up-to-date as it was written over 10 years ago), or "The Doctor's Book of Home Remedies for Dogs and Cats" (excellent in so many ways, but does not go into problems not treatable at home except to tell you when to take the animal to the vet).

  5. I picked this book up because I am a cat lover. When I started reading the book I found myself laughing as well as learning things I never knew about the care and training of my cat. It is formatted to read similiar to a automobile manual, which I thought was very humorous as well as a neat way to organize the information. I think it is a great guide for anybody who wants to learn more about the care and detail of having a feline friend.

4 comments about The Humane Society of the United States Complete Guide to Cat Care.

  1. This guide acquaints the reader with the care of cats from kittenhood to adult cat. It is easy to read and easy to find pertinent information when needed. It is highly recommended.

  2. Not only does this book tell you how to take care of your cat, it is also very interesting to read. Unlike some books, it doesn't have pages of very short descriptions of cat breeds. I find these very boring, as they tend to say the same things from book to book. These have no relevance to actually taking care of your cat. This book has enlightened me on several things about taking care of my cat. Much to my cat's distaste, I no longer feed her mass market pet food, but follow the simple directions found in the book. I also moved my ageing cat indoors, where she seems much less stressed. This book is good as a informative read about cats, and a reference book.

  3. This book does not cover the week by week development of kittens in terms of dietary needs and social and motor control. If you are adopting a young kitten from a private home, this is not the book for you. If you want to breed cats, look for another book.

The index is also undernourished. It is missing the words diet, food, feeding, nursing and weaning. The book does a good job, however, on the politically correct attitude to have toward a cat.

  4. This book tells how to keep your cat healthy, happy, and safe. It also takes animal welfare seriously, telling how you can get involved in helping cats! I highly reccomend it to every cat owner in America!

5 comments about Real Food for Cats: 50 Vet-Approved Recipes to Please the Feline Gastronome.

  1. There are no serving sizes per recipe of by weight of cat. Calories are missing. How can I feed my cats a healthy diet without this vital information?

  2. I bought a copy of this book and haven't seen any recipes that call for onions. Granted, I've only made about half the recipes so far, but I've seen nothing that will harm our cats. Two of the recipes I've made did call for garlic but the amount was so small that it wouldn't have any adverse effect.

I've made the Tuna Cakes and the recipe did not call for onions. The fish chowder recipe makes 5 servings - no mention of onion, and only one clove of garlic was needed.

I'm also pleased about the various safety tips throughout the book. I recommend this book to all.

The Kitten Owner's Manual: Solutions to all your Kitten Quandaries in an easy-to-follow question and answer format

Cat Toys: How to Make Your Home a Feline Paradise (Storey Country Wisdom Bulletin, a-251)

  3. I got a copy of this book, looked at the Tuna Cakes recipe and it did not list onions. Also in the back of the book with the human recipes it informs to leave onions out of the cat's meal. Not sure why there is a difference but just wanted to inform that I didn't find onions in the recipes. ????

  4. Onions can cause Heinz's Anemia in cats. I would not take my cat to any vet that approved feeding onions to a cat. This book has dangerous recipes. Spend your money on better book.

  5. UPDATE 5/14/07: Because there is a mystifying dispute between those readers who see onions (harmful to cats) in these recipes and those who don't, here's an easy way to see for yourself and make an informed decision. Use the excellent Amazon feature "Search Inside This Book." Either key in the word "onion" and click "Go" to see how many pages list onions in the recipes (I find 22) or choose the "Surprise me" option and click it repeatedly -- it took only 4-5 clicks for me to find "Kitty Tacos" with 1/2 cup onion listed as the second ingredient.

    Original April 2007 review:
WARNING: Onions are toxic to cats, and these recipes are full of onions.

While a few recipes in this book may be safe, it's hard to trust that because many recipes specifically for cats contain onion -- and ABBEY, whose review 32 people found helpful, is dead wrong that this is only the "people recipes at the end of the book." (Sorry, ABBEY, but I did read and comprehend the information.)

Don't be swayed by my saying so -- please judge for yourself. With the pet food recall, we all need to watch out for each other and, more importantly, for our precious cats. Below, I have copied page 23 verbatim, and it is NOT one of the "people recipes" at the end of the book:

    "Tuna Cakes
Cats will race even faster to the sound of a whirring can opener if they think you're about to prepare this tasty and nutritious dish.
    2 eggs
1 6-ounce can tuna, drained, and flaked
    1 small ONION, finely chopped
4 slices bread, cubed into kitty size bits
    1/2 teaspoon iodized salt
    1 teaspoon brewer's yeast
    1 teaspoon bonemeal
    2 tablespoons margarine

    1. Beat the eggs lightly in a bowl. Add the tuna, ONION, bread cubes, salt, brewer's yeast, and bonemeal. Mix thoroughly until moistened.
    2. Form into small patties. Melt the margarine in a skillet and fry the patties until golden brown. When cool, crumble each patty and serve.
    Makes 3 to 5 servings."

On page 25, the Fish Chowder specifically for cats calls for 1 glove garlic, minced and 2 tablespoons finely chopped ONION. On page 27, the Boogaloo Shrimp, again, in a recipe supposedly specifically for cats, the first ingredient is 1/2 chopped ONION. Page 32, the recipe for Chicken with Greens, there is a warning about introducing cats gradually to greens because they can be sensitive to it, but no warning about the 1 clove garlic in the recipe or on page 33, the Chicken Salad that calls for 1 tablespoon finely chopped ONION. The "people" recipes ABBEY refers to, called "Tandem Cooking" by the author, do not begin until page 81.

I am extremely disappointed I bought this potentially dangerous book and applaud the reviewer Cordelia Wright who is researching the vet who wrote the preface.

This is not a time to stand on ceremony when pet health is at stake from commercial food -- we need reliable sources of information about safe food, and this book is not it for the reasons previous reviewers have stated. Buyer, please beware.

I have complained to Amazon about continuing to promote and sell this book in the face of the pet food scare (a sick irony that people avoiding tainted commercial food turn to a so-called "vet-approved" recipe book containing recipes that will harm their cats!), and I have written a complaint to the book's publisher. I'm also pursuing getting a journalist involved to warn the public and find out how this book's author can claim these recipes are "vet-approved" when no vet would say giving onions to cats is safe.
