5 comments about From Worn to Wonderful: A Step-By-Step Guide to Fashion Doll Restoration.

  1. THIS BOOK IS VERY BASIC. IT DOES NOT GO INTO ANY OF THE INTERMEDIATE OR ADVANCED TECHNIQUES. THERE IS NOT A LOT OF INDEPTH DETAIL. FOR THE BEGINNER, THIS IS A GREAT BOOK.

  2. I found this book to be a total waste of time. A good portion of it is pictures of her dolls, which are not by any means noteworthy examples. The instructions she gives are so rudimentary as to be worthless. There are no good "how-to" photos accompanying the text. But what disturbs me the most is that the instructions she gives for removing green ear can severely damage the face paint on vintage Barbies. All in all, a total waste of time and money.

  3. This is a very helpful little guide for getting started with restoring your old childhood favorites. Since my old dolls and toys have been stuffed into cardboard boxes for almost 20 years, this informative book showed me where to begin. It's easy to follow with both practical and creative ideas. A wonderful hobby for those who are children at heart!

  4. This book was excellent for fixing up old dolls found in attics
and at flea markerts. It was not too complicated for basic beginners but the easy to follow steps really made a difference
in the dolls appearance and value. It is not meant to take the
place of a professional doll restoration which takes years of
practice and special materials. It is for using products in every
home that everyone has. GREAT READ FOR EVERYONE !!!!!

  5. I have found "From Worn to Wonderful" an excellent source of restoration information. I had no clue on what to do before I read this book. This book provided helpful hints for the beginner.

1 comments about The Structural Conservation of Panel Paintings: Proceedings of a Symposium at the J. Paul Getty Museum 24-28 April 1995 (Symposium Proceedings, Getty Conservation Institute).

  1. This book collects the proceedings of an important congress organised by the Getty Conservation Institute in 1995. The High level of the invited speaker and the excellent work they made in preparing their intervenctions make this text an unavoidable tool for people and students approaching the conservation of paintings supported by wooden panels.

1 comments about Second-Hand Style: Finding and Renewing Antique Treasures.

  1. Second-Hand Style: Finding And Renewing Antique Treasures by Paris-based professional jewelry designer cRis Dupouy (whose work has been commissioned by such noted patrons as the Musee de l'Opera and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, as well as many Parisian fashion designers) is an unexpectedly beautiful and varied photographic journey of the wonders that can be accomplished by cleaning out one's attic and sprucing up the hidden treasures within. Some directions are included for readers who wish to make similar creations to the wonders depicted within, but the true joy of Second-Hand Style lies in its brilliant, full-color photography of some truly splendid and inspirational creations. Second-Hand Style is a heartily recommended addition to personal, professional, and community library reference collections.
