1 comments about Corporate Interiors No.3.
- Corporate Interiors No. 3 unfolds the highly dynamic interplay of spatial transformation through some very exciting projects, varying from the classically conservative office space to the more blatantly modern conceptions. It highlights the brilliance of the Design firms by focusing on the innovative solutions through each of the 150 projects that comprise it. The photographs add to the visual stimulation, increasing its value far beyond the paper and the ink. A definate must to have around while studying, working or otherwise!

1 comments about Architectural Engineering Design: Structural Systems.
- Do not use this book without an Engineering or Architecture professor to help you through the errors within. The book is full of errors of continuity, strange/bad math, and inconsistency. The errors are so numerous, that it makes you wonder if you can trust any of the formulas to be accurate. For example: a sample problem in beam design gives the formula to use (from a table), defines the variables, gives the values for the known variables; and then in the problem-solving steps, uses different values for the known variables than what was listed in the preceding "Given" section! Furthermore, the answer arrived at cannot be made by the equation provided! There are also errors where a formula is listed in tables and that formula is referred to later and used for a problem, but the formula is not exactly the same as the table; there is no explanation for the difference.
I recommend "Simplified Engineering for Architects and Builders" (Ambrose/Tierney), instead.

2 comments about Bathrooms.
- There is nothing particularly fascinating about this book due to the dryness of the writing. As a "How To Design a Bathroom" book, this one hits all the major points, but it does not inspire a design with the photographs picked. There were not enough bathrooms shown due to the extensive repetition of the same bathrooms throughout the book.
I would definately not recommend this book to other designers due to the lack of new information or ideas. Instead, buy Bathing Spaces by Ali Hanan because of the variety and careful selection of pictures and text.
- Vinny Lee never disappoints! This is an awesome showcase of spectacular design, beautifully illustrated with mouth-watering pictures. Chris Everard (photographer) does a marvelous job. The text is excellent at informing the reader about the different styles and materials available for bathrooms today. It will have you daydreaming for weeks. I can't think of a single bad thing about this book. Worth every penny and then some!!! A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
PS- For those of you who enjoy traditional style decorating be forewarned. This book leans towards the modern end of the decorating spectrtum-but don't let that sway you. This book offers a few excellent examples of traditional bathrooms. Enjoy!!

1 comments about Architecture of the Private Streets of St. Louis: The Architects and the Houses They Designed.
- Really a great book on a most deserving subject. St. Louis was famous at the turn of the century for its Private Steets, New Orleans imitated this with the spectacular Audubon Place and Houston had Courtland Place. This book has wonderful images and the text is scholarly, honestly if you have any interest in beautiful homes or just love first rate books, then you will not be disappointed.

1 comments about The Jekyll Island Cottage Colony.
- A meticulously researched and highly engaging book detailing some of the remaining "cottages" (if you consider a 16 room house with 5 bathrooms a cottage) at the Jekyll Island colony. If you're familiar with the subject, you'll already know that some of the wealthiest men of the late 19th and early 20th century made Jekyll (off the southern coast of Georgia, near the Florida border) their getaway of choice; some going to the extent of building elaborate residences for their brief sojourns South. This book details the histories of some of the remaining houses; who built them, who enjoyed them, and how eventually death and financial decline caught up with just about all of them. It's loaded with photos, and not just boring old architects' shots of the finished products- we are treated to casual snaps of the families having tea outside, playing with the kids in the pool, or going for a ride in the pony cart. Add to this the aforementioned well-researched history of the families and houses themselves, and you have a book that you won't be able to put down. I'm a dedicated remainder-and-used book buyer, but I'm going to gladly play Amazon for a new copy of this. It's absolutely worth it. Enjoy!
