5 comments about Conures: Everything About Purchase, Housing, Care, Nutrition, Breeding, and Diseases (Complete Pet Owner's Manual).
- This book is to helpful in your curiosity about the kinds of conures there are & how to house them but hardly any info. is given on how to understand they're personality or on their habits & how to explore them further.
- This book is a good source for those who are looking for information on basic care and breeding of conures. However, it gives little information on keeping Conures as pets. There are almost no training tips given.
- This is not of great value to the average companion bird owner. It is geared mainly to the individual interested in breeding and setting up a breeding avaiary. There is very scant info on personality and characteristics. As most info is for breeding purposes, all cage and care requirements are written for at least 2 birds. Almost all info is provided concerning wild caught, or nearly adult-parent reared offspring. As it is so easy to locate a good breeder that hand rears young, this is of little use. This book did not meet my needs, but would be useful to a perspective breeder of Sun Conures.
- This book is great for those who have just purchased their new conure. There are beautiful illustrations and many colored photos. But the book is mostly about breeding and it contained words that weren't really clear. It should have had more tips on training the bird. But other than those, i would say that it would be a good book to buy.
- I am a pet bird owner looking for info about behavior specfic to conures. I felt this book was primarily adressing those who want to get into breeding of birds. The photos were excellent. I have a green eyed conure, she is delightful and while green, the edges of her feathers are rimmed with a lighter green. She is beautiful and personable, contrary to the book's opinion of this type of conure.

1 comments about Duck Keeping for Beginners.
- The author of this book has clearly had a lot of experience with back-yard ducks. She has written an in depth, but not difficult to understand book on an interesting subject and made it attractive and enjoyable to read. It is divided into 7 informative sections which made it all the more easy to navigate. It also helped in that you are able to skip straight to a section which interests you. Overall i gave this book 4 because it has everything you need to know to get started and have fun with ducks.

3 comments about A Rage for Falcons.
- When I first became interested in falconry, I, like most people, wanted to learn everything I could on the subject. This book covers several aspects of falconry, such as the history and the raptors used in it, and moves on to many personal stories. This is NOT a "how-to" book. Bodio has delivered a wonderfully entertaining and quite creatively written book that I highly recommend to any aspiring or long-time falconer. You won't be disappointed!
--Lauren
- Stephen Bodio is one of my favorite writers--definitely my favorite nature writer--and this books captures the essence of the ancient sport of falconry. This is not a manual; it's an essay that helps to explain why anyone would go through so much effort just to share in the privilege of hunting in partnership with a wild animal. (No other modern sport allows one to do this.)This is a book that can be read and enjoyed by anyone, falconer or not, but the falconer will appreciate some of the insights Bodio has--for instance, when he describes the infamous goshawk. I recommend this to anyone who wants to learn what falconry is, or who is seriously considering taking up hawks. It is fun, it is informative, and it will stay with you for a long time.
- Mr. Bodio has written an outstanding overview of modern falconry. He manages to convey what it is about falconry that makes falconers put up with the heartache of hunting with raptors. As a bonus, Mr. Bodio's writing is a joy to read. It is both funny and informative. This is definitely *not* a how-to book, but instead gives a good overview of what falconry is like, and what a prospective falconer can expect.

1 comments about A Guide to Macaws as Pet and Aviary Birds (A Guide to).
- I had trouble finding this book and finally ordered it off of an Australian website. It took a while to arrive but it was well worth the wait. This book has excellent and complete information on keeping macaws in both aviaries and as companion birds. The last section of the book is dedicated to discussion all species of Macaws including those extinct in the wild - the Lear's Macaw and the Spix's Macaw. It also includes very good information on the dwarf macaw species'. This book is hard to find but if you're new to macaw keeping it is well worth the effort.
